Abstract
Un método para lubricar una pieza de trabajo de metal para un proceso metalúrgico, comprendiendo el procedimiento: distribuir dióxido de carbono supercrítico a una boquilla (N); y pulverizar expandiendo rápidamente el dióxido de carbono de la boquilla sobre la pieza de trabajo de metal (P) durante el proceso metalúrgico.
Description
comercial. Los MWF se produjeron en primer lugar de forma concentrada, y después se diluyeron hasta una concentración de trabajo en agua desionizada. Este procedimiento de formulación es coherente con la manera en la que los MWF acuoso se preparan y se utilizan en la práctica. Las composiciones usadas para cada una de las formulaciones acuosas, así como las formulaciones de acuerdo con las presentes realizaciones, se presentan en la Tabla 1.

Ambas formulaciones a base de agua se hicieron con un tensioactivo aniónico y/o no iónico, pero la
10 estructura y la cantidad de tensioactivo se modificó ligeramente entre aceites para conseguir una emulsión estable. Ambas formulaciones a base de agua contenían acoplador como emulsionante secundario.
La formulación a base de scCO2 se hizo inyectando aceite de soja en un recipiente de alta presión H a concentraciones comparables a las de los fluidos a base de agua. El contenido del recipiente H se agitó 15 usando una barra de agitación, y la presión y la temperatura se mantuvieron por encima de los valores supercríticos para CO2. Todos los componentes de fluido se usaron como se entregaron por el fabricante y se sometieron a las mismas condiciones de manipulación y almacenamiento. Los aceites base usados en las formulaciones eran un aceite nafténico a base de petróleo y un aceite de soja (aceite de soja refinado alcalino, Cargill Inc., Minneapolis, MN). Los tensioactivos para las formulaciones acuosas eran
20 Tagat V20 (un tensioactivo a base de ésteres de ácidos grasos de glicerol disponible en el mercado en Degussa-Goldschmidt Chemical Corporation, Hopewell, VA), Dowfax 3B2 (in tensioactivo de disulfonato disponible en el mercado en Dow Chemical, Midland, MI), y Tomadol 91-6 (un tensioactivo de alcohol etoxilato disponible en el mercado en Tomah Corporation, Milton, WI).
25 Aunque no se muestra en la figura 3, también se realizaron pruebas de acuerdo con el "Método de la prueba de esfuerzo de torsión de aterrajado" descrito en el presente documento en acero 1018 de alta velocidad (HSS) usando agua desionizada en solitario como el lubricante. Los resultados de esta prueba mostraron una eficiencia del esfuerzo de torsión de aterrajado de aproximadamente el 50 %.
Haciendo referencia ahora a la figura 3, los resultados de los estudios de esfuerzo de torsión de aterrajado muestran que una dispersión de aceite de soja en scCO2 (como se representa en 3E) rinde aproximadamente un 20 % mejor que una microemulsión de MWF de aceite de soja (como se representa 35 en 3C) en cuanto a la eficiencia del esfuerzo de torsión de aterrajado. El CO2 supercrítico en solitario (como se representa en 3A) rinde aproximadamente como un MWF de aceite mineral en agua semisintético convencional (como se representa en 3B), y mejor que agua en solitario. Una microemulsión de MWF de aceite de soja (en una concentración en aceite de MWF semi-sintético al 0,75 %) rinde también como un aceite mineral al mismo nivel de un aceite soluble convencional (3,4 % de aceite) (no mostrado).
40 El aceite de soja directo, como se representa en 3D, produjo un mejor rendimiento de aterrajado hasta aproximadamente el 12 % sobre el fluido de referencia (el fluido de referencia es un aceite a base de aceite mineral soluble usado en la industria, con cera añadida para una lubricación adicional). El fluido de referencia no se muestra en las figuras, pero da como resultado una eficiencia del esfuerzo de torsión de aterrajado del 100 %.
45 Si se distribuye aceite de soja en la zona de corta usando scCO2 como vehículo, el rendimiento del fluido aumenta drásticamente. El rendimiento del fluido de aceite de soja en scCO2 es significativamente mejor que el aceite de soja emulsionado en agua o incluso el aceite de soja directo. Esto sugiere que, además de aplicar el lubricante y enfriar la región de corte, el scCO2 tiene beneficios tribológicos que hacen al
50 proceso de corte más eficiente. Con el fin de investigar este fenómeno de propiedades de lubricación mejoradas ofrecidas por los MWF a base de aceite de soja en scCO2, se tomaron imágenes por

microscopio electrónico de barrido de las virutas producidas durante el proceso de aterrajado.
Haciendo referencia ahora a la figura 4, generalmente hablando, las figuras 4a-4e muestran que las virutas producidas en presencia de aceite de soja directo y aceite de soja en scCO2 tienen menos contacto con las superficies de metal a la salida de la pieza. La similitud de la morfología superficial entre las figuras 4d y 4e sugiere que la dispersión en aceite en el fluido de scCO2 sale disparada de la boquilla, penetrando la zona de salida de viruta y llenando los espacios vacíos en la parte posterior de la viruta para transportar eficazmente la carga e impedir el contacto de la herramienta con la viruta.
Como se ha indicado anteriormente, cada una de las figuras 4a-4e corresponde con una de 3A-3E, respectivamente. Las imágenes por microscopía electrónica de barrido representativas proporcionadas en la figura 4 muestran claramente que hay mucho más contacto metal-metal en los experimentos de aterrajado caracterizados por valores inferiores de eficiencia del esfuerzo de torsión de aterrajado (por ejemplo, microemulsión de MWF de petróleo, como se muestra en la figura, y microemulsión de aceite de soja, como se muestra en la figura 4c) con respecto a los experimentos caracterizados por valores mayores de eficiencia del esfuerzo de torsión de aterrajado (por ejemplo, mezcla de scCO2 y aceite de soja, como se muestra en la figura 4e). Por ejemplo, las microemulsiones a base de petróleo muestran marcas de desgaste del proceso de corte que se han triturado planas a la superficie de la viruta, como se muestra en la figura 4b. La imagen también indica estrías y marcas de arañazos que son indicativas de una deficiente lubricación y un contacto metal-metal. Esta fricción significa que ha de suministrarse más torsión para realizar la operación de aterrajado, dando como resultado un valor inferior de la eficiencia del esfuerzo de torsión de aterrajado como se representa en 3B. Por el contrario, el MWF de scCO2/aceite de soja muestra mucho menos contacto entre la viruta y la pieza de trabajo, como se muestra en la figura 4e. En este caso, el área de contacto se aísla a algunas zonas de relieve elevadas en la superficie de la viruta que no se han triturado debido a la presencia de una lubricación eficaz. Dado que estos resultados se distinguen claramente del uso de aceite de soja en solitario, como se representa en la figura 4d, se cree que la presión del scCO2 y su capacidad para transportar el aceite de soja disuelto previamente profundamente hasta el proceso de corte, pueden servir para minimizar el contacto entre la viruta y la pieza de trabajo. Esto da como resultado ventajosamente en una fricción inferior y una torsión observada en la operación de aterrajado.
Una de muchas conclusiones extraídas de los experimentos analizados en el presente documento es que los fluidos metalúrgicos hechos a partir de aceite de soja y distribuidos en scCO2 rinden significativamente mejor que las emulsiones de aceite en agua tradicionales y los MWF de aceite directo.
Aunque se analizaron algunas formulaciones en el presente documento para fines ilustrativos, se entenderá que la novedad demostrada y/o la sinergia obtenida a partir de la utilización de scCO2 en combinación con lubricantes en mezclas disueltas, dispersas y/o emulsionadas pueden extenderse a numerosas clases de aceites, ésteres, polímeros, ceros y jabones que incluye, pero sin limitación, los siguientes ejemplos: aceites minerales, incluyendo al menos uno de aceites nafténicos, aceites parafínicos, y mezclas de los mismos; aceites vegetales, incluyendo al menos uno de aceite de soja, aceite de colza, aceite de canola, aceite de maíz, aceite de girasol, y mezclas de los mismos; ésteres, polímeros y/o glicoles, incluyendo al menos uno de ésteres de trimetilpropano, polialquilenglicoles, ésteres polimerizados (por ejemplo, ácido monobásico/dibásico, a base de aminas grasas, sulfurado), copolímeros de óxido de etileno/óxido de propileno, polímeros sintéticos y naturales (hidrocarburo, fluorado, clorado), y mezclas de los mismos; así como combinaciones de cualquiera de los anteriores.
Además, el sistema de lubricación de scCO2 puede incluir aditivos de presión extrema para una lubricación adicional en aplicaciones de conformación y corte de metal con o sin lubricantes primarios que incluyen, pero sin limitación, parafinas cloradas, ceras cloradas, ésteres clorados, ácidos grasos clorados; grasas sulfuradas, olefinas sulfuradas, polisulfuros, compuestos clorados de azufre, sulfonatos sulfurados, ésteres de fosfato, ácidos grasos de fosfato, aminas de fosfato (por ejemplo, alquilo o aromático), y/o combinaciones de los mismos.
Las realizaciones del presente método o métodos y/o composición o composiciones que usan dióxido de carbono supercrítico (scCO2) están adaptadas para distribuir lubricantes de aceite, lubricantes de contorno, y lubricantes de presión extrema en aplicaciones metalúrgicas. El uso de CO2 como un lubricante y/o como un sistema de distribución de lubricante ofrece las siguientes ventajas no limitantes: mejor eficiencia y recuperación de metalurgia, reducción de la cantidad de materias primas necesarias para fabricar productos; eliminación sustancial de muchos, si no todos, los inconvenientes asociados a los fluidos metalúrgicos tradicionales (un ejemplo de los cuales incluye su potencial para la contaminación microbiana); eliminación sustancial de la necesidad de biocidas que pueden convertirse en un problema debido a los potenciales peligros de la eliminación de residuos y laborales asociados a la exposición a biocidas en el ámbito de fabricación; eliminación sustancial de los aditivos de fluidos metalúrgicos auxiliares tales como agentes quelantes, que pueden causar problemas de eliminación de residuos; compatibilidad con una amplia diversidad de aceites base tradicionales y no tradicionales tales como aceites fluorados y tensioactivos con alta estabilidad oxidativa, durabilidad y potencial de reutilización,
