Proceso para la producción de compuestos trifluorometilados de arilo o de heteroarilo sustituidos o no sustituidos que comprende la reacción de un haluro de arilo o de heteroarilo sustituido o no sustituido con un trifluoroacetato de fórmulas (I) o (II),**Fórmula** en las que R1 es hidrógeno o un grupo alquilo C1-C5 y M es un metal alcalino o un ion de amonio, en presencia de una sal de halogenuro inorgánica o una sal de trifluoroacetoácido como compuesto activante y una combinación catalítica de una sal de cobre con un ligando alifático o aromático de amina o de pirimidina monodentado, bidentado o tridentado.
