EL PROCESO CONSISTE EN LA FORMACION DE OXIDOS DE CERIO Y DE ZIRCONIO, DE OXIDOS MEZCLADOS Y DE SOLUCIONES SOLIDAS POR UNOS PROCEDIMIENTOS COMO, POR EJEMPLO, LA COTERMOHIDROLISIS Y LA COPRECIPITACION, SEGUIDOS DE UN LAVADO O DE UNA IMPREGNACION CON UN COMPUESTO ALCOXILADO QUE TIENE MAS DE DOS ATOMOS DE CARBONO. DESPUES DE LA FASE DE LAVADO O IMPREGNACION, LA MEZCLA SE CALCINA PARA FORMAR UNOS OXIDOS QUE TIENEN UN AREA DE SUPERFICIE MUY GRANDE Y UNA CAPACIDAD DE ALMACENAMIENTO MUY GRANDE DE OXIGENO.
