Abstract
1478093 Exhaust gas catalyst HOECHST AG 27 Feb 1975 [14 March 1974] 8257/75 Heading B1E [Also in Division Cl] A supported-catalyst suitable for oxidation of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in I.C. engine exhaust gases consists of 0.2-10% wt, based on the weight of support of cerium in oxide form and a support which is a mixture of delta-alumina and alpha-alumina having an alkali content of up to 0.2% wt. The catalyst may be formed by compressing hydrous alumina, e.g. boehmite, or an anhydrous alumina other than alpha-alumina, e.g. delta-alumina, to form shaped bodies; calcining at 1000- 1250C for 10-20 hours; impregnating with a decomposable cerium salt; drying at 130- 150C; calcining at 200-300C; calcining at 450-550C; and calcining at 700-900C.
