Abstract

Catalyst for reducing nitrogen oxides from the gases at 250-500, pref. 300-400 degrees C, is obtd. by dispersing 1 to 40 pts. wt. of a mixed oxide of rare earth and other metals in 100 pts. wt. of Al2O3, moulding the dispersion and calcining it at 600-940, pref. 750-940 degrees C. Catalyst is highly active and is not deactivated by S oxides, O2 or high temps. It has a long life and is unaffected by intermittent use, resisting acid solns. as found in boiler flue gases. Support has good compressive strength.
