Abstract

Procedimiento para la producción de gamma- butirolactona y de tetrahidrofurano mediante hidrogenación del anhídrido maleico recuperado de un proceso de conversión de n-butano mediante oxidación catalítica en fase vapor, que consiste esencialmente en las siguientes etapas: a) convertir n-butano a anhídrido maleico por oxidación catalítica en fase vapor; b) recuperar anhídrido maleico de los gases efluentes de la oxidación de butano mediante absorción selectiva en una corriente rica en gamma-butirolactona, para formar una mezcla de anhídrido maleico/gamma-butirolactona; c) separar agua de la mezcla de anhídrido maleico/gamma- butirolactona en una columna de rectificación bajo la acción de un gas, para producir una mezcla de anhídrido maleico/gamma-butirolactona con un contenido mínimo en agua y ácido maleico; d) recuperar gamma-butirolactona en los gases de salida que abandonan el absorbedor de anhídrido maleico, por absorción en agua; e) deshidratar la gamma-butirolactona recuperada y reciclarla al absorbedor de anhídrido maleico; f) hidrogenar la mezcla deshidratada de anhídrido maleico/gamma-butirolactona sobre uno o más catalizadores adecuados, bajo condiciones que favorecen la formación de gamma-butirolactona y tetrahidrofurano; g) separar, por destilación, tetrahidrofurano, gamma- butirolactona y los subproductos de la mezcla de hidrogenación resultante; h) reciclar una corriente rica en gamma-butirolactona a la absorción selectiva de anhídrido maleico.
