AL GAS A DESULFURAR, QUE CONTIENE H2S Y VAPOR DE AGUA, SE LE AÑADE OXIGENO DE MANERA QUE EL GAS CONTENGA POR MOL DE H2S DE 1 A 20 MOLES DE O2. CON UNAS TEMPERATURAS ENTRE 50 Y 180 (GRADOS) C SE CONDUCE EL GAS A TRAVES DE CARBON ACTIVO, CARGANDOSE ESTE CON AZUFRE ELEMENTAL Y TAMBIEN, AL MENOS, CON UN 3% EN PESO DE ACIDO SULFURICO. ES CONVENIENTE QUE EL GAS A DESULFURAR, CUYO CONTENIDO EN H2S + SO2 ES DE 1000 PPM COMO MINIMO, SE PASE A TRAVES DE UNA DEPURACION CATALITICA PREVIA A TEMPERATURAS ENTRE 100 Y 180 (GRADOS) C, ADSORBIENDO EL AZUFRE ELEMENTAL EN UN CATALIZADOR RICO EN OXIDOS METALICOS. AL GAS PROCEDENTE DE LA DEPURACION PREVIA SE LE AGREGA OXIGENO Y SE HACE PASAR EL GAS A UNAS TEMPERATURA ENTRE 50 Y 180 (GRADOS) C A TRAVES DE CARBON ACTIVO PARA SU DESULFURACION RESTANTE.
