LOS OXIDOS NITROSOS PUEDEN SER ELIMINADOS DE LOS ESCAPES DE LAS TURBINAS, POR UNA REDUCCION CATALITICA SELECTIVA (SCR) CON AMONIA, CON EFICIENCIA MAS GRANDE QUE POR LA TECNICA ANTERIOR SI LA AMONIA NECESITADA PARA LA REDUCCION DE LOS OXIDOS NITROSOS ES AÑADIDA ANTES DE LA TURBINA, PREFERIBLEMENTE EN UN EXCESO ESTOIQUIOMETRICO COMPARADO A LOS CONTENIDOS DE OXIDOS NITROSOS EN LOS GASES DE ESCAPE. UNO PUEDE EMPLEAR CATALIZADORES SCR BIEN CONOCIDOS Y VENTAJOSAMENTE LOS GASES DE ESCAPE DESPUES DE LA TURBINA SON PASADOS A TRAVES DE UNA CAPA DEL CATALIZADOR SCR, SEGUIDO POR UNA CAPA DE UN CATALIZADOR DE COMBUSTION. EL ULTIMO CONSISTE EN OXIDOS DE METAL, PREFERIBLEMENTE SELECCIONADOS DE OXIDO DE COBRE, OXIDO DE MANGANESO Y OXIDO DE CROMO, DEPOSITADOS EN OXIDO DE ALUMINIO, OXIDO DE SILICIO O SUS MEZCLAS.
