Definitions
- the invention relates to an extruded seal made of an elastic foam material, with a head section designed for sealing and an adjoining foot section for anchoring the extruded seal in a retaining groove of a frame or sash of a window extending in a depth direction, the head section and the foot section over a back are connected to each other, so that the seal strip has a closed cross-section, and the head section comes to rest on the window on the sash side in the case of anchoring the seal strip in the retaining groove.
- Such an elastic strand seal is, for example, from DE 10 2005 044 421 A1 famous.
- the object of the invention is to provide an extruded seal that can also be used in a corner area without a miter and still achieves the same sealing properties in the corner area as on the continuous length of the extruded seal.
- An extruded seal of the type mentioned at the outset made of foam material which has the head section designed for sealing and the foot section adjoining it.
- the foot section is designed in such a way that it is suitable for anchoring the sealing strip in the depthwise extending retaining groove of the frame or sash of a window.
- the head section and foot section across the back Preferably formed as a profile back
- the seal strip has the closed cross-section.
- the head section is located on the sash side of the window.
- a strip of a material that is harder than the surrounding foam material is formed in the foam material.
- the strip appears as a web and, in the unloaded state, ie along the running length of the strip seal, is tilted away from the head section at its end opposite the foot section. This tilting is related to a perpendicular extending along the direction in which the foot portion is to be inserted for attachment. If the strip seal is deflected around a window corner, the head section lies on the sash-side outer radius and the strip tilts in the corner area towards the head section - again in relation to its end opposite the foot section. Furthermore, the strip seal, viewed in cross section, is made entirely of foam material, at least below an upper edge of the web on the side of the web that faces the head section, ie on the wing side. It therefore has no chambers in the foam material on the side of the strip pointing towards the head section, but is made of solid foam material there.
- the strip seal If the strip seal is laid around the corner, a transverse force is created for geometric reasons, which pulls the head section on the wing side, i.e. on the outer radius, inwards, which means that the head section tends to stand up in the corner area.
- the sloping strip in the strip seal straightens up when folded around the corner and generates a counterforce to the transverse force in the corner area. Since there is only solid foam material on the wing side of the strip, the strip pushes foam material outwards and counteracts or even completely prevents the head section from standing up in the corner area. When installed, the lateral force in the corner area consequently presses the head section inwards and the strip, which rises outwards in the corner area, against it, i.
- the strip is preferably tilted away from the head section by a tilting angle of between 2° and 45° in relation to the said perpendicular, which is arranged parallel to the depth direction. Then setting up the strip is particularly effective.
- the tilting angle is particularly preferably selected in such a way that the strip is vertical in the corner area. When the strip is in the vertical, it pushes the head section outwards with maximum counterforce. The opposing force exerted by the strip outwards then prevents the head section from folding in and standing up almost completely or even completely.
- the strip also makes it easier to install the line seal in the retaining groove, as it also acts as an expansion barrier.
- the foam material In order for the strip to have the desired effect in the corner area, the foam material must not have any chambers at least on the wing side of the strip, i.e. the side facing the head area below the upper edge of the strip (in relation to the foot). These would collapse under the opposing force and nullify the effect of the strip.
- the strip seal preferably has only solid foam material, i.e. no chambers, on the entire side of the plane in which the strip lies, which faces the head region. On the opposite side, however, chambers in the foam material are possible without any problems.
- the foam material preferably has a Shore A hardness of between 21° and 25° ShA and the strip has a Shore A hardness of between 80° and 100° ShA, particularly preferably 90° ShA.
- the web covers at least 2/3 of the head section in full profile along the vertical. More preferably, the web extends in the full profile into the foot section. This enables a particularly large counterforce, so that the head section can be avoided even better in the corner area.
- the strip is preferably designed as a web with a rectangular cross section.
- the web then has a thickness of 0.6 to 1.0, preferably 0.8 mm. This enables easy and quick assembly, since the comparatively stiff strip can be easily bent in the corner area due to its small thickness, without a significant expenditure of force being required. Nevertheless, the undesired deformation of the extruded profile in the corner area is avoided by the strip.
- the head section is located on the window on the sash side; the foot portion extends along the depth direction. A sealing of a gap in the window can be seen from the outside through the head section of the strip seal.
- Retaining grooves of windows or frames usually have an insertion opening that has a narrowed portion at the top and widens in the depth direction perpendicular to the depth direction.
- the root portion of the string seal elastically deforms when pushed into the insertion hole.
- a usually roof-shaped end section of the foot section springs out on both sides in the expanded area of the retaining groove, so that it extends over the side surfaces of the insertion opening extends on both sides in the first, narrower area of the insertion opening. This creates an anchorage that prevents the strip seal from escaping undesirably from the retaining groove.
- the side surfaces of the foot section are designed wider than the insertion opening of the retaining groove in its narrowed area, so that the foot section is always pressed against the side surfaces of the insertion opening by pressure forces, with the extruded seal being held firmly in the retaining groove. These pressure forces prevent the strip seal from being undesirably displaced along the retaining groove.
- the strip seal can be used universally - for both plastic and metal windows, despite the differently designed retaining grooves. Due to the relatively short and compact design of the foot section, it can also be used in a C-groove. It is also possible to use the strip seal as a glazing seal and on the inside edges of a window or frame.
- the foam material has a degree of foaming between 0.5 and 3.5% by volume, particularly preferably between 0.5 and 2% by volume. This degree of foaming makes the full profile particularly soft, which increases the resilience of the foam material, so that the counterforce can compensate for the transverse force particularly well and the head section is prevented from standing up in the corner area particularly well.
- the foam material particularly preferably has a coating on the head section. If the strip seal is inserted into the retaining groove, the head section is on the sash side of the window so that the head section has a visible visible edge.
- This visible edge is particularly preferably coated with a soft material that is as smooth as possible, this coating being made as thin as possible, particularly preferably this coating having a layer thickness of between 0.1 and 0.3 mm, in the corner area around an extension on the wing side allow located outside of the string seal.
- the coating in the head section particularly preferably has a Shore A hardness of at most 60° ShA.
- the foot section has an assignment.
- This occupancy in the footer section is preferably made of the same material as the occupancy in the header section.
- the coating on the foot section particularly preferably has a greater Shore A hardness on than the occupancy at the header section. For manufacturing reasons it is favorable if the same hardness is used as in the strip.
- the assignment of the foot section and the associated smooth surface of the foot section makes it easier to insert the strip seal into the retaining groove. If the occupancy of the foot section in the preferred embodiment is harder than the occupancy of the head section, the resistance to damage when inserting the strip seal into the retaining groove is increased.
- the coating on the foot section also preferably has a thickness of between 0.1 and 0.3 mm.
- the head section is cambered in the shape of a wedge.
- Such a design of the head section increases a compressive stress along the vertical, so that an undesired erection of the head section in the corner region of the window or frame is prevented.
- Further sealing lips are preferably arranged on the back of the profile, so that the sealing properties of the extruded seal are further improved.
- the head area can also be designed as a lip.
- the extruded seal 1 shows a cross section of an extruded seal 1 in a first embodiment.
- the extruded seal 1 has a head section 2 and a foot section 4 with a roof-shaped end section 5, which are connected to one another via a profile back 6, so that the cross section 8 is closed.
- An optional first sealing lip 10 and an optional second sealing lip 12 are arranged on the profile back 6 .
- the strip seal 1 is designed as a full profile made of foam material throughout.
- an internal strip is formed of comparatively stiffer material.
- the strip can be seen as a web 14 when viewed in cross section 8 .
- the web 14 is tilted away from the head section 2 with its end facing away from the foot section. 1 points at an angle ⁇ to a perpendicular S.
- the angle ⁇ is, for example, 2° to 45°, preferably 2° to 10°.
- the perpendicular S is the direction along which the foot portion 4 extends. This is parallel to a depth direction.
- depth direction indicates the depth of a retaining groove for which the foot section is designed to fit and in which the strip seal is to be anchored.
- the perpendicular S is further perpendicular to a sealing plane for which the underside of the head is designed. As a rule, the sealing plane is parallel to the plane of a window glass.
- An assignment 16 is provided on the head section 2 and an assignment 18 is provided on the foot section 4 . Both are optional.
- the strip seal 1 consists of an elastic foam material.
- Thermoplastic elastomers are particularly suitable as foam material.
- the foam material preferably has a Shore A hardness of between 21° and 25° ShA.
- the strip consists of a harder material, in particular plastic with a Shore A hardness of between 80° and 100° ShA, particularly preferably 90° ShA. If the strip, as in the embodiment, is also made of foam material, the extruded seal 1 can be produced particularly easily using an extrusion process.
- the strip seal is formed from a solid profile in cross section.
- chambers are permitted as long as they are not related to the representation of the 1 immediately to the left of the strip. “Immediately on the left” is to be understood as meaning that area of the strip seal 1 which is below an upper edge (top side facing away from the foot) of the web 14 on the left, ie on the head side in the cross section of the strip seal 1 .
- the foam material has no chambers etc.
- chambers such as are known in the prior art for promoting the sealing properties can certainly be provided. This is also above the upper edge of the web 14 is possible, in particular to the left of the web, although it is also preferred to design the head 2 from solid foam material and without chambers.
- the head 2 is cambered wedge-shaped. This is not mandatory, as described below with reference to the second embodiment in connection with Figures 5 and 6 will be explained later.
- the head section 2 shows the strip seal 1 in cross section 8 in the installed state in a retaining groove 20 extending in the depth direction.
- the dashed lines show the cross section 8 in the uninstalled state ( 1 ).
- the head section 2 is intended to be arranged on the sash side of the window; it is located on the side of the strip seal 1 facing away from the window glass, ie on the sash side of the window.
- the strip seal 1 is inserted into the retaining groove 20 of the window or frame. Due to the compact design of the foot section 4, the strip seal 1 is also suitable for use in a C-groove and thus in both plastic and metal windows. It can also be used as a glazing seal or on an inner edge of the window.
- the extruded seal 1 is pressed with its foot section 4 so oriented into the holding groove 20 that the head section 2 is located on the sash side of the window (ie on the side facing away from the window glass).
- the retaining groove has an insertion opening 20 which is initially narrow in a narrowed area 21 so that the foot section 4 is elastically deformed when pressed into the insertion opening and thus in the narrowed area 21 .
- the retaining groove widens in the depth direction, so that the roof-shaped end section 5 of the foot section 4 can spring out on both sides after penetrating the narrowed area 21 .
- This extended state is in 2 shown.
- the roof-shaped end section 5 extends perpendicularly to the depth direction beyond the side faces of the narrowed area 21 , so that an anchorage is created which prevents the strip seal 1 from being undesirably released from the retaining groove 20 .
- the foot section 4 of the cross section 8 is designed to be significantly wider than the narrowed area 21 of the retaining groove 20 (dashed line).
- pressure forces are generated which act from the foot section 4 of the extruded seal 1 on the side surfaces of the narrowed area 21, so that the extruded seal 1 is held firmly in the retaining groove 20. This also prevents the strip seal 1 from slipping along the retaining groove 20 .
- the foot section 4 can preferably (as in Figs Figures 1 and 2 shown) be provided with an assignment 18.
- the occupancy 18 has a smooth surface, whereby the onset of String seal 1 is facilitated in the retaining groove 20.
- the occupancy 18 protects the foot section 4 from damage when the extruded seal 1 is inserted into the retaining groove 20.
- the occupancy on the foot section should be as thin as possible to avoid slight deformation of the foot section 4 when the extruded seal 1 is pressed into the retaining groove 20 and springing of the roof-shaped End section 5 after penetrating the narrowed area 21 not to impede. If the extruded seal 1 is inserted into the retaining groove 20, the head section 2 lies on the window or frame on the sash side.
- the head section 2 fulfills the sealing function of the strip seal 1 and is visible from the outside when installed, so that a visible edge is created.
- This visible edge can preferably be coated with the occupancy 16 .
- the occupancy 16 is made as thin as possible, preferably the occupancy 16 has a thickness of between 0.1 and 0.3 mm. If the strip seal 1 around a corner area 24 (as later in more detail based on the 3 and 4 is explained), such a thin coating ensures that the outside of the strip seal 1 on the wing side is stretched without the pores of the material opening.
- the coating 16 on the head section 2 preferably has a Shore A hardness of at most 70° ShA, particularly preferably at most 60° ShA.
- the coating 18 on the foot section 4 particularly preferably has the same Shore A hardness.
- the Shore A hardness of the covering 18 on the foot section 4 can, however, particularly preferably also be selected to be greater in order to reduce the resistance to damage when the extruded seal 1 is inserted into the retaining groove 20 .
- the extruded seal 1 is designed in such a way that it can be guided over a corner area 24 without a miter and that the sealing properties in the corner area 24 nevertheless do not change significantly.
- the strand seal 1 in the corner area 24 show the 3 and 4 .
- Figure 3A shows the string seal 1 running around a corner.
- Figure 3B shows a detailed view A of the strip 22 in the corner area 24.
- the outer edge 22.a and the inner edge 22.i as well as a neutral axis F of the strip 22 are shown.
- 4 shows the cross section in the corner area 24, ie the cross section of the strip seal 1 when it is placed around the corner of a window or frame.
- the other reference symbols are analogous to 1 and are therefore not explained further below.
- a transverse force Q and a counterforce G are shown.
- cross-section 8 in 2 it can be seen that the web 14 with its upper edge (based on the illustration in 2 ) is tilted away from the head section 2.
- the stiffener 22 stands up in the corner area 24 because the most favorable energetic state corresponds to the course of the neutral fiber F in a bending process, which experiences neither compression nor elongation in the strip 22 .
- the distance between the edges 22.i and 22.a in the projection ideally corresponds to the thickness of the strip 22 of the web 12.
- the strip rotates in the corner area 24 and thus moves towards the head section 2 with its upper edge (the section far from the foot). As a result, it generates a counterforce G, which counteracts the erection of the head area 2 .
- the tilting angle of the strip 22 is preferably selected in such a way that the cross-section of the web in the corner region 28 is in the vertical S (see FIG Figure 3B and Fig.4 ), since the maximum counterforce G is then generated in the corner area 24.
- the counterforce G which is produced by the erection of the strip 22 in the corner region 24, counteracts the transverse force Q.
- the head section 2 is pushed outwards by the opposing force, ie in the direction of the wing. Folding in of the head section 2 is avoided, and only a fold 26 remains (see FIG Figure 3A ), but no thickening of the extruded profile in the corner area 24.
- the elastic foam material of the extruded seal 1 preferably has a degree of foaming between 0.5 and 3.5% by volume, particularly preferably between 0.5 and 2% by volume, so that it is particularly soft with the resilience that promotes the sealing properties and also the counterforce is designed.
- the strip 22 of the extruded seal 1 is preferably also made of foam material, but with a lower degree of foaming, which is preferred from a manufacturing point of view, since the extruded seal can then be produced in one foaming and extrusion process.
- the head portion 2 as in the Figures 1 to 4 shown, are wedge-shaped cambered.
- the head portion 2 in the assembled state, as in 2 shown (dashed line), the head portion 2 is slightly depressed, so that the head portion exerts a compressive force in the direction of the perpendicular S on the surface of the retaining groove. This compressive force prevents the string seal 1 from standing up when it is placed around the corner area 24 .
- the strip 22 consists of a harder material than the foam material, it preferably has a Shore A hardness of between 80° and 100° ShA, particularly preferably 90° ShA, so that the strip seal 1, despite the strip 22, is made of a harder material , can be bent without significant additional effort.
- the strip seal 1 is laid, the strip 22 made of harder material stands up around the corner area 24 and reliably generates the desired counterforce G.
- the web 14 can cover at least 2/3 of the head section 2 in cross section along the perpendicular S. Furthermore, the strip 22 can extend along the perpendicular S into the foot section 4 . This achieves a high counterforce, so that the folding in of the head area in the corner area 24 is prevented or reduced even better.
- the web 14 can have a thickness of 0.6 to 1.0 mm, preferably 0.8 mm. On the one hand, this enables quick and easy assembly, since the web 14 can be bent perpendicularly to its surface due to its small thickness without a significant expenditure of force being required. On the other hand, the strip is not yet too thin to act as intended in the corner area 24 .
- a further sealing lip 10 and/or an insertion limiting lip 12 are particularly preferably provided on the profile back 6 in order to further improve the sealing effect of the extruded seal 1 .
- Figures 5 and 6 show representations similar to that Figures 1 and 2 , but for a second embodiment, which differs from the embodiment of FIG Figures 1 and 2 differs.
- the head portion is formed as a multi-piece lip 28 having three portions 30, 32 and 34 extending around a recess 36 in a U-shape.
- a strip 38 is additionally provided, which prevents stretching in the area of the lip 28 or an undesired tearing or tearing of the lip 28 during the insertion process.
- the second embodiment further shows that a chamber 40 is provided to the right of the strip 22, which improves the insulating properties.
- a chamber 40 can of course also be used in the first embodiment.
Abstract
Description

Fig. 1 unmittelbar links des Streifens liegen.
Fig. 2 dargestellt.
Fig. 3 und4 . -
Fig. 3B zeigt eine Detailansicht A des Streifens 22 im Eckenbereich 24.
Fig. 1 bis 4 gezeigt, keilförmig bombiert ausgeführt werden.
