Studies have found that injuries to the abdomen, particularly in the genital area, are increasing sharply among military personnel, but also among the civilian population in crisis areas, especially in regions where terrorist activities regularly occur, for example in Afghanistan. This is due, among other things, to the fact that terrorists use unconventional explosive and incendiary devices, so-called lEDs. These are explosive devices that are usually positioned on the ground and develop their effect upwards from the ground. This creates primary splinters and secondary splinters that injure the abdomen in particular. The explosion also accelerates particles of sand, dust and dirt. Furthermore, a pressure wave and fire emanate from the explosive and incendiary devices.

Furthermore, there is a risk that the protective packages placed in the bags will move unintentionally. In addition, the wearer of the underwear is hindered by the protective packages, for example if he or she has to move while lying on the floor or crawling.

Another disadvantage of known ballistically equipped underpants is that their protective packages are only inadequately tailored to the areas in the abdomen that are actually particularly in need of protection.

The generic document discloses an underwear whose base area is composed of a splinter-inhibiting knitted fabric made of UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) and a different textile material. The different textile materials or the different zones that make up the underwear are sewn together. This invention was based on the idea that not all of the underwear has to be made of a uniform knitted fabric that prevents the penetration of splinters, but essentially only the areas that require special protection. In the context of this invention, it has therefore been assumed that it is sufficient to use the UHMWPE knitted fabric in a first zone of the base area that requires special protection. Furthermore, the invention was based on the idea that, in contrast to the prior art, such as this from the US 6,961,958 B1 It is known to refrain from initially making the underwear entirely from a non-ballistic material and then providing pockets to hold ballistic protection packages. In contrast to this, the generic document reveals that the underwear is assembled by sewing together several different textile materials. This is intended to ensure that the underwear has a comparatively low weight per unit area and still has a good protective effect.

However, it has been shown that the protective effect of underwear that is manufactured in accordance with the disclosure of the generic document still needs improvement. One problem is that the aforementioned LED booby traps release their effect in two waves. First, a pressure wave acts on the textile item of clothing, especially underwear. This causes it to inflate and the seams with which the individual textile surfaces are sewn together can burst open. The surfaces that are intended to ensure a ballistic protective effect remain essentially intact, but are no longer necessarily in the intended locations, since all other surfaces may be destroyed and, in particular, the seams may be torn. If splinters and dirt hit the body with the second wave due to the explosion, ballistic protection is no longer reliably provided. The splinters and dirt can therefore penetrate the body.

It has been shown that the first wave creates excess pressure, which literally inflates or inflates the textile item of clothing. This pressure and inflation causes the protective clothing to burst.

The present invention is based on the object of improving the air circulation and air permeability of the headgear, scarf, headscarf, tube scarf and balaclava with ballistic protective equipment.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the features of claim 1.

The fact that the textile item of clothing has at least one knitted fabric which has several differently protected zones, with at least two different zones being seamlessly connected to one another, and at least one zone is formed from a yarn that inhibits the penetration of splinters, the disadvantages of the textile items of clothing described above are eliminated solved according to the state of the art, in particular the protection against unconventional explosive and incendiary devices positioned near the ground is improved.

The design of the textile garment according to the invention as a knitted fabric or as a knitted fabric and at least one fabric connected to it can have various advantages, in particular application-specific, which are explained in more detail below.

All of the advantages presented below using a textile item of clothing, in which the item of clothing is preferably a knitted fabric, can also be achieved with an item of clothing which is composed of a knitted fabric and at least one fabric connected to the knitted fabric, unless this is explicitly stated otherwise or technically is excluded.

The term “multiple zones” means two or more zones.

Any cuffs present on the textile item of clothing according to the invention are not considered a “zone” within the meaning of the invention.

The part of the textile item of clothing that is formed by the first zone can be formed in one piece or in several pieces. The other zones provided can also be made in one piece or in several pieces, i.e. H. distributed over several areas.

The feature according to the invention that "at least two different zones are seamlessly connected to one another" does not presuppose that if a zone is multi-piece, i.e. H. is divided into several areas of the textile item of clothing, all partial areas of this zone are seamlessly connected to one or more (partial) areas of a different zone. It is sufficient if two (partial) areas of different zones are seamlessly connected to one another. Preferably, however, all surfaces of a zone are seamlessly connected to all surfaces of a different zone.

Two zones are considered to be protected differently within the meaning of the invention if their structure, i.e. H. the yarn used and/or the strength of the yarn and/or the weave and/or the structure of the yarn and/or the strength of the layer and/or the number of layers arranged one above the other results in different ballistic protection.

According to the invention, it can be provided that the ballistic protection that the textile item of clothing should offer only results from the fact that the knitted fabric has differently protected zones, without the need for additional protective packages, which are inserted into pockets according to the prior art.

In contrast to the teaching of the generic scripture, namely the DE 10 2012 110 104 A1 , the zones made from different materials are not sewn together, but rather seamlessly connected to each other.

The inventor recognized that the protective effect of the textile item of clothing can be significantly improved by seamlessly connecting the zones. This avoids a previous problem, namely the seams bursting due to the pressure wave of an explosion and the resulting no longer protective effect of the ballistically protected zones.

Because the textile garment according to the invention no longer bursts due to the pressure wave due to the seamless connection, the textile garment also remains in place the pressure wave is still in the intended position, so that the first zone, which is formed from a yarn that inhibits the penetration of splinters, can develop its protective effect at the intended location and protect the wearer of the item of clothing.

The inventor has further recognized that it is very advantageous if the textile item of clothing fits closely to the wearer's body, especially if the textile item of clothing is underwear, which prevents the textile item of clothing from being affected by the first pressure wave bloats.

It is particularly advantageous if the textile item of clothing is designed in such a way that it not only fits closely to the body of the wearer of the item of clothing with any cuffs provided, but the item of clothing is designed in such a way that it fits closely to the wearer of the item of clothing overall.

The inventor has also recognized and solved another problem with ballistically protected textiles from the prior art, in particular according to the generic document. If the individual zones are knitted independently of each other and then put together to form a textile item of clothing, open edges or predetermined breaking points inevitably arise. These open edges prevent the forces acting from being distributed in the best possible way, as the filaments are cut off directly at the edge and the force can only be absorbed by the filaments up to this intersection point. However, the way soft ballistics works is based on the absorption and distribution of the kinetic energy that occurs. The threads of the garment that are directly hit are destroyed and/or stretched by the penetration of the bullet, thus distributing the energy to the surrounding threads. Because fabrics and scrims are generally manufactured at right angles, this energy distribution occurs primarily in the longitudinal and transverse directions. The force is further distributed to the surrounding threads via the crossing points of the fibers, which leads to a kind of chain reaction. The energy thus spreads further and further to the individual threads until the bullet has released its kinetic energy when attempting to penetrate the textile layer and gets stuck.

When ballistic clothing is cut, artificial "predetermined breaking points" are created so that the force acting on the threads can only be absorbed up to the intersection point can. The present invention solves this problem. The individual zones are seamlessly connected to one another, preferably knitted together. It is advantageous if the zones of the textile item of clothing each consist of endless yarns that are not cut off at the edge. Each zone is preferably formed by only one thread. In this way, the goal can be achieved to transmit the force of the projectile over the entire textile surface, instead of just over the directly affected area. The thread would therefore (theoretically) dissipate the force almost endlessly, leading to a reduction in the number of layers, an associated weight reduction and improved trauma values. In addition, manufacturing from one thread is cheaper and more environmentally friendly as there is no waste and there are no additional costs for making up the layers.

The composition of the textile item of clothing from several zones has the advantage that the zones that provide ballistic protection can be concentrated on the areas that should be protected accordingly. Appropriate materials can be installed in the other zones, which, for example, ensure thermoregulation or ensure advantageous elasticity of the item of clothing.

According to the invention, it can be provided that the textile item of clothing is designed as underwear, underpants, undershirt, T-shirt, headscarf, scarf, balaclava, tube scarf, combat shirt or long-sleeved shirt.

It can also be provided that the textile item of clothing is designed as a glove, as an inner glove, as a sock, as a knee-high stocking, as a brassiere, as a T-shirt or underwear with female shapes, as a shirt or as a long-sleeved shirt, in particular as a combat shirt.

The textile item of clothing is preferably worn directly on the skin in all possible configurations, that is, the textile item of clothing also serves as underwear or replaces underwear.

In an embodiment as underwear, it can be advantageous if a first zone extends in one piece from a front to the back and in particular also protects the perineum and the anal region, in particular from splinters that shoot up from the floor. The ballistic protection packages from the prior art, which are simply inserted into pockets, have almost no protective effect here.

When designing the textile item of clothing as underpants, it can be advantageous, as already described above, if a part located on the front and the Area of the perineum and the anal region and a section formed on the back are formed in one piece from the first zone. In this case, it is advantageous if the trouser legs, preferably at least the laterally outer surfaces of the trouser legs, are not formed from the first zone, but rather represent a zone that deviates from it and is seamlessly connected to the first zone. Preferably, the trouser legs can represent a comfort zone, particularly preferably breathable and elastic, and possibly also flame-retardant. Preferably, the trouser legs fit closely to the wearer's body.

It is advantageous if a second zone is formed which has a higher ballistic protective effect than the first zone. The second zone, which can also be formed in one piece or in several pieces, i.e. H. which is realized by a contiguous surface or by several individual surfaces, can in turn be seamlessly connected to the other zones, preferably knitted with them.

It is advantageous if the second zone, which has a higher ballistic protective effect than the first zone, protects the particularly vulnerable areas of the wearer. It is advantageous if the second zone is formed from a yarn that inhibits the penetration of splinters, whereby the yarn is coarser and/or the weight per unit area is higher and/or denser bonds are provided than in the yarn of the first zone. This makes it easy to achieve a higher protective effect. It is advantageous if the first zone has a single layer and the second zone has two or more layers. Alternatively, it can also be provided that the first zone is designed in two layers and the second zone in three, four or more layers.

It is advantageous if the second zone is designed as a spacer fabric. This makes it easy to realize a double layer or, if necessary, a multiple layer. A spacer fabric has proven to be advantageous, especially with regard to of breathability. Despite the multi-layered spacing, it is not too stiff for the wearer.

According to the invention it can be provided that the first zone is designed as a spacer fabric.

According to the invention, it can be provided that the yarn which inhibits the penetration of splinters has or is a UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) or aramid or ^Vectran® .

Aramid is the abbreviation for "aromatic polyamide", a special form of polyamides. They are divided into para- and meta-aramids. Para-aramids are well suited for protective clothing due to their mechanical properties, i.e. H. for ballistic as well as puncture and cut protection. Meta-aramids are used specifically for heat protection. In para-aramid polymers, the amide groups are located on opposite sides of a benzene ring and thus create a straight structure of the molecular chains.

The use of UHMWPE has proven to be very suitable in ballistics and is already suggested in the generic document.

In principle it is also possible to use PBO. PBO is an isotropic, crystalline polymer fiber and is a polybenzazolene. Due to its linear structure and aromatic heterocyclic groups, PBO is a rigid rod-shaped macromolecule (similar to para-aramid). However, the assembly of PBO is very difficult.

The use of Vectran ^® has proven to be suitable. This is a high-performance multifilament yarn spun from liquid crystal polymers.

It is preferable to assign several, particularly preferably all, of the aforementioned areas to the first and/or the second zone.

It is advantageous if the textile item of clothing is designed as underpants. However, the invention is not limited to this.

In an embodiment of the textile item of clothing as underpants, it is advantageous if it is designed in such a way that the underpants, when worn correctly by the wearer, reach so high that they also cover the belly button - and run around in a ring at this height. This has the advantage that the underwear overlaps with any additional protective vest that may be worn. In particular, the kidneys on the back of the person wearing the underwear can also be completely protected by the underwear and, if necessary, the protective vest.

It is also advantageous if the underwear, in an embodiment as underpants, extends to the knee of a wearer, preferably ending immediately above the knee when the wearer wears the underpants correctly.

It is advantageous if a further zone has an elastic yarn or is formed by an elastic yarn.

The further zone can be defined as a zone that requires less protection and in which other properties, such as the creation of air circulation and elasticity in order to achieve a good fit, are in the foreground. The further zone can be designed as a comfort zone, possibly as a so-called mesh, ie as an air-permeable textile mesh. The yarn selected for the further zone can also be designed in such a way that it enables or supports thermoregulation and/or the removal of sweat from the body.

It can be advantageous if the further zone is designed to be flame-retardant and/or breathable.

The part of the textile item of clothing that is formed by the further zone can be formed in one piece or in several pieces. In the case of a multi-piece design, the further zone can also have different properties, in particular, as described below, can be designed with and without ballistic protection.

It can also be advantageous if the further zone has a yarn that inhibits the penetration of splinters. A yarn can be used for this that was already mentioned above, in particular UHMWPE, Aramid or ^Vectran® .

The inventor recognized that a wrapping yarn is particularly suitable for the further zone. The further zone can have a wrapping yarn or can be formed by a wrapping yarn, which preferably has a core made of the elastic yarn, which is wrapped by the yarn that inhibits the penetration of splinters.

This solution has proven to be particularly suitable because, on the one hand, it creates a comfort zone with the desired properties, in particular the desired elasticity and comfortable wearing behavior, and this also results in the technical advantage that the textile item of clothing fits closely to the wearer's body. Furthermore, this solution offers a certain minimum ballistic protection by wrapping the core of the elastic yarn with a yarn that inhibits the penetration of splinters. This has proven to be particularly suitable. The yarn that inhibits the penetration of splinters can in turn be one of the aforementioned yarns.

According to the invention, the textile item of clothing can have cuffs, which are preferably seamlessly connected to adjacent zones. The cuffs can have an elastic yarn or be formed by an elastic yarn. The cuffs can also be designed to be flame-retardant and/or breathable. It is also possible to produce the additional zone from a wrapping yarn, preferably again providing an elastic core, for example made of a material called elastane, which is wrapped by another yarn, for example again a yarn that prevents the penetration of splinters inhibits (UHMWPE, Aramid or Vectran ^® ).

The cuffs are also preferably knitted with the adjacent other zones. The cuffs do not necessarily have to be present on the textile item of clothing and/or be seamlessly connected to the adjacent zones.

Within the scope of the invention, the term “cuffs” also includes an embodiment of the textile item of clothing with only one waistband.

An antibacterial finish in at least the first or second zone, preferably all zones, can be advantageous.

It is advantageous if at least the first and/or the second zone, preferably all zones, have hydrophilic properties.

It is advantageous if the first zone and/or the second zone are designed as a close-meshed knitted fabric.

It is advantageous if, when designing the first and/or second zone with UHMWPE, a plastic fiber with the name Dyneema ^® , developed by the identical company Royal DSM NV, or a plastic fiber with the name Spectra ^® from Honeywell International Inc. is used.

It can be advantageous if the knitted fabric is knitted from UHMWPE using a double yarn.

If the textile item of clothing is designed as an undershirt, a carrying strap can be incorporated, preferably knitted in. The carrying strap can be provided so that, for example if the wearer of the undershirt or T-shirt is injured, the carrying strap, which can be designed as a rescue handle, can be lifted or at least the wearer can be helped to stand up, for example.

The carrying strap can preferably be guided from the back over the chest and/or from the back under the armpits up to the shoulder and around the back of the wearer's neck when the undershirt or T-shirt is worn correctly.

Such a design of the headgear, the tube scarf, the scarf, the balaclava or the headscarf (hereinafter collectively referred to as headgear) has proven to be particularly suitable, since emergency services in particular usually wear a helmet due to the special need for protection, so it is not necessary that the headgear takes on a ballistic protective function in this area of the head. In this area of the head it is particularly important that the headgear is comfortable to wear and is breathable and elastic. A wrapping yarn with the design already described can also be used here, for example.

According to the invention, it can be provided that partial areas and/or individual zones have an outside that is knitted from a different material than their inside. How this can be achieved is basically known from the prior art and is referred to there as plating technology.

The aforementioned seam can, for example, be designed as a “medical release” in order to be able to quickly remove it from the body in the event of an injury to the wearer of the textile item of clothing. A design of the seam as a “medical release” can be particularly suitable if the textile item of clothing is designed as an inner glove or glove.

The textile garment is preferably produced on a flat knitting machine.

The cuffs are made from an elastic and skin-friendly material. The cuffs are preferably without seams with the rest of the textile item of clothing, in particular the underwear, the underpants, the undershirt, the T-shirt, the headgear, the sock, the knee-high, the bra, the inner glove, the glove or the long-sleeved shirt, tied together.

Instead of synthetic materials in the net, jersey and cuffs, viscose or cotton or other well-known skin-friendly materials can also be used. For the additional flame-retardant property (FR property), a special yarn, which is preferably also skin-friendly, can be used.

All variants described in detail above using UHMWPE can also be realized using aramid as a ballistic material. This is particularly useful due to its flame-retardant properties. The use of a yarn with 420 dtex to 550 dtex can be advantageous.

When designing the textile item of clothing as underpants according to the invention, it can be provided that they are worn directly on the skin or over tight-fitting conventional underpants.

Areas that should preferably be at least partially protected or where it may be advantageous to form the first zone or the second zone are arteries and veins, internal organs - abdomen and urinary tract, external and internal genital organs, perineum and anal region as well as the inner thigh. Zones where a reduced level of protection is recommended, i.e. the comfort area, are particularly the areas of the muscles and bones. The further zone can preferably be formed here.

When designing the textile item of clothing as a headgear, as a scarf, as a tube scarf, as a balaclava or as a headscarf, it has proven to be advantageous if the first zone and/or the second zone are designed in such a way that they cover the mouth and/or the neck area protect when the textile clothing items mentioned are worn correctly. The area that is typically protected by a helmet for emergency services does not have to be separately protected by the headgear according to the invention, which is why the formation of a comfort zone, preferably the further zone, can be recommended in this area. The first and second zones can preferably be at least partially produced in the headgear, preferably using a plating technique. It is advantageous if the inside is made of UHMWPE or Aramid or Vectran ^® and the outside is knitted from a flame-retardant material and, if necessary, printed with a camouflage print.
