Definitions
- the present invention relates to a clamping ring locking device for a clamping ring with a clamping lever and a one-part or two-part clamping bracket, both of which are pivotably attached to a pivot bearing base on the clamping ring side, the clamping bracket and the clamping lever being pivotably connected to one another by means of a further common pivot bearing .
- the present invention further relates to a clamping ring with the clamping ring locking device.
- clamping rings have a U-shaped or trapezoidal cross-sectional profile, in which a flat or rounded center piece connects an upper and a lower clamping ring leg. At least one of the two clamping ring legs is designed to run obliquely, often both clamping ring legs are also designed to run obliquely, with the distance between the two clamping ring legs increasing inwards towards the center point of the clamping ring.
- a collar-shaped flange edge angled upwards and/or downwards can adjoin the upper and/or lower clamping ring leg.
- the clamping ring locking device bridges the two ends of the clamping ring, with the clamping ring-side pivot bearing base of the clamping lever being firmly welded to one end of the clamping ring and the clamping ring-side pivot bearing base of the tension bracket being firmly welded to the other end of the clamping ring.
- the largest diameter of the opened clamping ring is required when putting on and removing the clamping ring from the lid flange edge and barrel body flange edge. To do this, the clamping lever must be held in the fully opened position by hand. The smallest diameter of the closed clamping ring with the clamping lever folded in is required for the axial clamping and pressing together of the drum lid with the drum lid seal on the barrel body mouth or the barrel body edge.
- Clamping rings with clamping ring closure device for releasably fastening a barrel lid on a lid barrel are known in a wide variety of embodiments, such. B. from the publication DE 20 2013 000 452 U1 (Berger ).
- the clamping lever is fixed in the closed position by structural means in order to prevent the clamping lever or the clamping ring closure from being able to open accidentally or unintentionally.
- the closed clamping lever there are many other proposed solutions in the known prior art.
- the present invention addresses a different set of problems.
- the clamping ring locking device with its two pivot bearing bases must be welded onto the two ends of the clamping ring. Since the clamping lever is only connected to the clamping bracket by means of a pivot bolt, and the clamping lever and clamping bracket are also pivotably mounted on the two pivot bearing bases on the outside by means of pivot bearings, this prefabricated component unit represents a comparatively unstable matter that is difficult to handle.
- the clamping lever of the clamping ring when opening a lidded barrel, the clamping lever of the clamping ring must be brought into a wide open position and held manually in order to be able to lift the open clamping ring from the barrel lid or lidded barrel.
- the clamping lever of the clamping ring When closing the lidded barrel, the clamping lever of the clamping ring must be held in the wide open position with the largest diameter and only then can the opened clamping ring be placed over the edge of the mounted barrel lid and the lidded barrel edge and firmly closed.
- the two components, the clamping lever and the clamping bracket are provided with structural means which are designed in a functionally mutually coordinated mode of action between the two components as a snap-locking device for fixing the clamping ring closure device in the wide open clamping lever position are.
- the clamping lever and/or the tension bracket are provided with a special locking device that fixes the clamping lever in a wide open position with an opening angle of more than 90°.
- the clamping ring closure device By fixing the clamping ring closure device in a wide-open clamping lever position by means of the locking device designed as a snap-locking device, the clamping ring closure device can be handled much better during further processing.
- the clamping ring locking device which consists of four individual components that are connected via pivot bearings so that they can be pivoted, now there is no longer an unstable chain of components, but can be used in a defined rigid position in a storage magazine and then z. B. be fed to a welding machine for welding the pivot bearing base with the clamping ring blank.
- the fully welded clamping ring with fixed clamping ring closing device can be transported in a wide open clamping lever position by an automatic gripping and conveying device to a lidded drum closing machine, where the widely spread clamping ring is automatically placed on a lidded drum with a drum lid and is closed.
- the locking device is designed as a snap-locking device with a snapping element and a locking element, the snapping element being arranged either on the clamping bracket or on the clamping lever and the locking Element is arranged correspondingly opposite to the clamping lever or to the tension bracket.
- the mutual fixation of the clamping lever and the clamping bracket causes the clamping ring locking device to spread wide or open wide, thus creating the possibility of storing and transporting this component group in a defined, stable arrangement and of handling a clamping ring provided with the clamping ring locking device according to the invention generally to simplify and facilitate.
- the tension bracket has two parallel, opposite outer flanks, each of which is provided on its inner side with at least one protruding projection directed towards the opposite outer flank, which when the clamping lever is positioned wide open in a corresponding manner snaps into a matching recess or recess in both outer sides of the side walls of the clamping lever.
- the two parallel, opposite outer edges of the clamping bracket are connected via a common center piece and are designed as a one-piece component. This results in greater stability of the entire clamping ring closure device.
- the snap-locking device arranged between the clamping bracket and the clamping lever is designed in such a way that when the clamping lever is positioned wide open, the snapping element engages with the locking element, with the clamping lever having an opening angle of greater than 160° is fixed against the tension bracket.
- the clamping bracket is extended on both sides by a short distance beyond the pivot bearing C that is common to the clamping lever, and these extensions each have an indentation on the outside and, correspondingly, an inward-pointing projection (locking cam) on the inside.
- an inward-pointing projection locking cam
- the projection is designed to be snapped and latched in a fixing manner oppositely (vis a vis) when the clamping lever is positioned wide open.
- the clamping lever When considering a clamping ring with a closed clamping ring lock, the clamping lever rests on the clamping ring and the opening angle is zero. When the clamping ring lock is open, the clamping lever usually protrudes at a right angle from the clamping ring, i. H. the opening angle is about 90 degrees. The clamping ring is no longer under tension, but must be opened further by hand and held to place it on the barrel lid and to remove it from the edge of the lid. By fixing the clamping ring locking device in a wide open position with an opening angle of the clamping lever of more than 160°, the clamping ring can be easily removed from the rim of the barrel or the edge of the lid without having to constantly hold the clamping lever by hand. It is now also possible to automatically place and close clamping rings with a fixation of the clamping ring closure device in a fully open position and with the largest possible diameter in automatic lidded drum closing systems on drum lids of lidded drums.
- the clamping lever on its side opposite the pivot bearing C - at the same distance as the inward-pointing projections (locking cams) on the extension of the tension bracket from the pivot bearing C - is equipped on both sides with corresponding depressions in its side walls in such a way that the Projections on the extension of the clamping bracket when the clamping lever is fully closed are designed to be snapped and latched into the corresponding depressions in the side walls of the clamping lever, fixing them as a locking device for the clamping lever.
- the indentations can also be in the form of oblong holes, like the oblong holes already present in the clamping lever for the known locking device by means of a seal with a clamping ring eyelet.
- the reference number 10 designates a clamping ring closure device according to the invention for a clamping ring 12 .
- the main elements of the clamping ring locking device 10 are a clamping lever 14 and a clamping bracket 16 .
- clamping rings are z. B. used to close lidded drums.
- the barrel lids are mostly made of plastic or metal, the lid barrel bodies can also be made of plastic, metal or unwrapped kraft paper (fiber drum, cardboard drums).
- the clamping rings are made of galvanized sheet steel profile and can have diameters from 80 mm to 2000 mm with material thicknesses between 0.5 mm and 2.5 mm. By default, the diameter is between 100 mm and 800 mm. When viewed in cross-section, the clamping rings have an expanded U-shaped or trapezoidal profile with or without a collar-shaped flange edge.
- the collet rings may be formed below the collet closure device with a short overlap, long overlap, or no overlap.
- the clamping lever 14 and the clamping lever 16 are both fastened pivotably by means of pivot bearings 18 (B), 20 (A) on a pivot bearing base 22, 24 on the side of the clamping ring, with the clamping bracket 16 and the clamping lever 14 being connected by means of a further common pivot bearing 26 ( C) are pivotally connected to each other.
- the clamping ring closure device 10 as a prefabricated component unit consists of four individual components 14, 16, 22, 24 which are movably connected to one another via three pivot bearings 18 (B), 20 (A), 26 (C).
- the clamping ring locking device 10 bridges the two ends of the clamping ring 12, with the one end of the clamping ring 12 of the clamping ring-side pivot bearing base 22 of the Clamping lever 14 and on the other end of the clamping ring 12 of the clamping ring-side pivot bearing base 24 of the tension bracket 16 are firmly welded.
- the clamping ring locking device 10 When the clamping ring locking device 10 is closed, the clamping lever 14 lies flat on the clamping ring 12 .
- a sealing eyelet 46 arranged on the clamping ring 12 is covered by a slot 44 arranged in the side walls 38 of the clamping lever. To ensure originality, a sealing tongue or a sealing wire can be guided through the oblong holes 44 on both sides and the sealing eyelet 46, the intactness of which indicates an originally closed cover.
- the clamping ring closure 10 shown is in the normally open position, in which the clamping lever 14 usually remains in a 90° position without tension and protrudes from the clamping ring 12 at an approximately right angle.
- the clamping ring closure 10 is provided in the vicinity of the common pivot bearing 26 of the clamping lever 14 and the clamping bracket 16 with a locking device 28, which in the present embodiment as a snap-locking device with a locking element 42 and a snap -Element 44 is formed between the clamping bracket 16 and the clamping lever 14.
- the latching element 42 can be arranged either on the tensioning lever 16 or on the tensioning lever 14 and the snap-in element 44 can be arranged correspondingly opposite one another on the tensioning lever 14 or on the tensioning lever 16 .
- the elongated hole 44 mentioned serves at the same time as a snap-in element in the open position of the clamping lever 14.
- As a latching element 42 two round indentations arranged next to one another are pressed into the outer flanks of the clamping yoke 16 from the outside Locking cams are formed.
- the special design feature of this clamping ring closure 10 is that the snap-locking device engages in a wide open position of the clamping lever 14 in a coordinated functional mode of action between the clamping lever 14 and the clamping bracket 16 and the clamping lever 14 - in relation to the clamping lever-side pivot bearing base 22 - fixed in wide open position with an opening angle greater than 90°.
- the locking cam locking elements 42 snap into the elongated hole snap-in elements 44 .
- FIG. 3 This wide open positioning of the clamping ring closure 10 with the latching cam latching elements 42 snapped into the slotted hole snapping elements 44 (not visible) is in figure 3 shown.
- Another elongated hole 48 is provided in the clamping lever 14 between the common pivot bearing 26 and the pivot bearing 20 on the clamping ring side. This slot 48 is only important when the clamping lever 14 is closed. When the clamping lever 14 is closed, the locking cam locking elements 42 snap into this slot 48 or snap-in element and advantageously provide an additional fixation for the clamping lever 14 in closed state.
- the latching elements 42 have the same distance from the pivot bearing 26 as the snap-in elements 44.
- the closure device 10 is a stable component unit that is significantly easier to handle in the production of the clamping ring.
- the prefabricated closure device is now used as a stable component unit in a defined, spread-out form for storage and transport in large numbers in a corresponding grid-like holding frame. These holding frames are then transported to an automatic welding machine and fed there to a storage magazine, so that a spread or wide open closure device that is individually removed from it by a gripper of the automatic welding machine is automatically placed on a clamping ring blank fed from another side and automatically welded to it.
- the finished clamping rings with the sealing device welded on are then stored in another frame in a wide open state and transported to a designated place of use with an automatic lidded drum sealing machine. There, a barrel lid is mechanically placed on each lid barrel body and a finished, wide-open clamping ring is placed over the edge of the barrel lid and clamped, and the lid barrel is thus automatically closed.
- FIG 4 shows, in an enlarged representation, another clamping bracket 16 of a clamping ring locking device 10 according to the invention, in which the outer flanks 30, 32 are connected via a center piece 40.
- two elongated depressions 36 are formed from the outside, which are formed on the inside of the clamping bracket flanks 30, 32 as projecting rib-like latching cams 34.
- These rib-like latching cams 34 represent the latching elements of the snap-in latching device for the clamping ring closure device 10.
- the rib-like latching cams 34 snap into the corresponding elongated holes 44 or snap-in elements in the side walls 38 of the Clamping lever 14 and fix the two components against each other.
- the clamping lever 14 is shown again in an enlarged side view with the two elongated holes 44, 48 and the two pivot bearings 18 and 26.
- the latching elements or latching cams 34 snap into the snapping elements or slots 44 when the clamping lever 14 is fully open and into the snapping elements or slots 48 when the clamping lever 14 is fully closed.
- the clamping ring locking devices 10 are no longer provided with two separate metal strip-like clamping brackets, but with a one-piece clamping bracket 16 in which the two parallel, opposite metal strip-shaped outer flanks 30, 32 are connected to one another via the common center piece 40 .
- the following detailed descriptions of Structural design for a one-piece clamping bracket 16 should of course also apply to two-piece clamping brackets.
- This short piece of extension 54 is about as long as the outer flanks 30, 32 of the yoke 16 are high, i. H. in this specific case, the extension 54 has a length of between 8 mm and 36 mm, preferably 12 mm. The length of the extension should be designed just long enough to ensure elastic behavior of the snap-lock device and plastic bending of the extension is excluded.
- FIG 6 shows an example of such a tension bracket 16, in which the outer flanks 30, 32 behind the pivot bearing 26 are each provided with the extension 54.
- an indentation 50 which is formed on the inside of the extension 54 as a protrusion 52 pointing inwards.
- this inside projection 52 is designed as a round locking cam and represents the locking element for a snap-on element (round hole, slot) arranged on the outside of the clamping lever 14.
- FIG. 7 Another clamping ring closure 10 in fully open position is in figure 7 shown.
- the locking device 28 required for this is designed as a snap-lock device between the extension 54 of the tension bracket 16 and the tensioning lever 14, with the locking element being formed as a rib-like projection in the extension 54 and in the on the outside of the tensioning lever 14 as a Snap element provided slot 44 snaps.
- the rib-like projection (not visible here) is formed by the rib-like indentation 50 .
- the clamping lever 14 has an opening angle to the end of the clamping ring on the clamping lever side of between 90° and 180°, preferably approximately 160°.
- the articulated connection between the clamping lever 14 and the clamping bracket 16 is provided by the common pivot bearing 26 .
- the pivot bearing 20 on the clamping ring side with the associated pivot bearing base 24 of the tension bracket 16 is arranged on the side of the tension bracket 16 facing away from the clamping lever 14 .
- the pivot bearing on the side of the clamping ring and the associated pivot bearing base of the clamping lever 14 is arranged under the tension bracket 16 and is not visible here.
- the extension 54 is formed, in which the here round indentation 50 with an inside projection 52 (not visible here) is stamped or embossed.
- the elongated hole 48 for inserting a seal of the clamping ring closure in the closed position can be seen.
- a narrowing 58 of the clamping ring 14 extending up to the pivot bearing 18 on the clamping ring side can be seen.
- FIG 9 the clamping ring closure is shown in plan view.
- the extension 54 of the clamping bracket 16 beyond the pivot bearing 26 in the direction of the clamping lever 14 can be seen here.
- the indentations 50 are embossed at the end of each extension 54 and snap into the corresponding snap-in elements or round holes 56 with their inside projections 52 .
- a total of four such round holes 56 are expediently made in the side walls of the clamping lever 14 on both sides of the pivot bearing 26, as shown in figure 10 can be seen in the clamping ring lock with half-open clamping lever 14.
- the round holes 56 in the clamping lever 14 are arranged at the same distance from the pivot bearing 26 as the distance between the indentation 50 and the inside projections 52 in the extension 54 of the tension bracket 16.
- this clamping ring 12 with clamping ring closure device 10 is characterized in that the clamping ring 12, when the clamping ring closure device 10 is fully open and fixed in position - compared to the closed position - has a diameter that is at least 5% larger and remains rigid without manually holding the clamping lever 14 has.
