Definitions

  • the invention relates to a spacer for keeping a joint on the wall connection side free, as is used, for example, when laying a rigid floor covering, for example when laying a laminate floor.
  • Cuboid spacers are used to form such a spacer joint. These have a thickness that corresponds to the width of the joint to be created. Typically the desired joint width is 10 mm or 15 mm. These block-like spacers are set up with their narrow side on the bottom. Then a panel of the floor covering, for example a laminate panel, is placed in front of these spacers. Thus, the floor covering is laid on the floor side while maintaining a spacing joint in the material thickness of the spacers. After the floor has been laid, the spacers are pulled out of the spacing joint.
  • a multi-part spacer for keeping a joint on the wall connection side free for laying a rigid floor covering is known.
  • This multi-part spacer comprises two wedges that rest against one another with their wedge surfaces. The width of the joint is established by positioning the two wedges in relation to one another. After the floor has been laid, the two wedges can be pulled out of the joint.
  • WO 03/058007 A1 discloses a spacer for floor laying. This spacer is designed in the manner of a bar and remains in place after the floor has been laid. The edge joint is covered by an edge strip.
  • US 2013/0263462 A1 describes a spacer which is designed as a rigid component in the manner of a spacer. Removing this spacer after the rigid floor covering has been laid is not without problems.
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of proposing a spacer which is suitable for use for the aforementioned purposes and whose handling is improved compared to the previously known.
  • This spacer has a spacer element, the thickness of which corresponds to the width of the spacer joint to be kept free.
  • the spacer has a bracket.
  • the bracket itself comprises a strip-shaped retaining leg and a retaining shaft connected to it and protruding from the retaining leg.
  • the spacer element which for this purpose has a bore or shaft receptacle extending in the direction of its height, is mounted on the holding shaft.
  • the spacer element and the bracket are detachable according to a first embodiment of the invention.
  • the retaining leg of the retaining bracket is moved in a direction away from the flat extension of the spacer element, so that the longitudinal axis of the retaining leg of the retaining bracket forms an angle with the longitudinal extension of the spacer element.
  • the spacer element is typically designed in the form of a plate. Such an element is cuboid or roughly cuboid. When it is designed as a spacer plate, the longitudinal extension of the spacer element is longer than the width of the retaining leg. In such a configuration, the holding leg is set up with respect to the holding plate for setting up the spacer in such a way that its longitudinal extent encloses an angle of approximately 90 degrees with the longitudinal extent of the spacer plate.
  • the spacer plate of this spacer can be set up without having to fear that it will fall over even on uneven floors or on soft surfaces. If the spacer is used to lay the floor, the bracket for the spacer plate or spacer element forms a base. Since the spacer joint is regularly formed to form a wall, the spacer plate is secured by the wall from tipping over in the direction pointing away from the retaining leg.
  • the spacer plate can be pulled off the holding shaft of the holding bracket.
  • the bracket itself is also pulled out of the spacing joint by rotating the same, during which rotational movement its holding leg is brought out of its position engaging under the floor covering.
  • the holding shaft has a rotary driving contour, in particular an external rotary driving contour, on its free end section on the upper side. This can be designed differently depending on the design of the spacer.
  • this rotary driving contour is designed as an outer polygonal contour, for example as a hexagonal contour. In many cases, such a contour will be sufficient to be able to rotate the bracket around the axis of its retaining shaft to allow the retaining leg to pivot freely.
  • a rotary driving contour complementary to the rotary driving contour of the holding shaft is introduced into a narrow side of the spacer plate or the spacer element. The spacer element previously removed from the holding shaft can then be used as a tool for pivoting the holding bracket.
  • the hole made in the spacer element to accommodate the retaining shaft extends through the spacer plate in the direction of its height and that the free end portion of the retaining shaft protrudes from this hole when the spacer plate is placed on the retaining shaft.
  • this free end section is angled or that an adjusting handle, which, like the retaining leg, can be designed in the form of a strip, is molded on or attached to this free end section.
  • the spacer plate is typically no longer separable from the holding bracket.
  • the adjusting handle will be designed so that it protrudes from the holding shaft in the same direction as the holding leg. This adjusting handle then also represents an indication of the direction in which the holding leg engaging under the floor covering is currently aligned.
  • the spacer element itself which is typically designed as a spacer plate, can be designed with a uniform material thickness and thus with two spacing surfaces parallel to one another, one of which comes to rest on the wall and the opposite on the end face of the rigid floor covering.
  • a design of the spacer plate whose thickness is wedge-shaped is also entirely possible, or a design in which the spacer plate has two thicknesses, a first material thickness being provided in a lower section and a second material thickness being provided in an upper section. The two different material thicknesses will be provided depending on the two desired spacing joint widths. If such a spacer plate is provided, it can be releasably plugged onto the holding shaft of the holding bracket.
  • the spacer plate with one material thickness or with the other material thickness will be slipped onto the holding shaft as the lower section.
  • Such a design of the spacer plate is useful because then different spacer elements do not have to be used to set up spacer joints in two different widths, but the selection of the width of the spacer joint is made by the orientation of the attachment of the spacer plate onto the holding shaft of the bracket. With such a configuration there is the possibility of providing the two with different colors with regard to their material thickness and thus with regard to the width of the spacing joint to be set up.
  • such a spacer can also be used for other work in which a joint on the wall connection side is to be kept free, such as, for example, also in the case of stucco work on the ceiling side.
  • the strip-shaped retaining leg then serves to grip behind an object held on the ceiling side, so that it at the same time forms a suspension hook for the spacer.
  • the spacer element with the bracket is of such a type and Connected in a manner so that the spacer plate does not slip down from the holding shaft of the holding bracket when the latter engages behind a ceiling-side element with its holding leg and the holding shaft is directed downwards.
  • the holding shaft reaches through a hole extending through the spacer plate and is angled at the end or carries an angled adjusting handle, as has already been described above. It is also possible to connect the spacer plate to the retaining leg by means of a latching connection, for example using a snap ring held in the wall of the borehole in a circumferential groove, which engages in a latching groove present at the corresponding point on the holding shaft of the retaining bracket.
  • the spacer element of such a spacer can be made from virtually any material, as long as it has the necessary spacing properties. Typically this will be manufactured as a plastic part.
  • the bracket can also be a plastic part. In many cases, however, you will prefer a design of the bracket as a metal part.
  • a spacer 1 is used to keep a joint on the wall connection side free in connection with the laying of a rigid floor covering.
  • the spacer 1 comprises a cuboid spacer plate 2 as a spacer element, which in the illustrated embodiment is a cuboid plastic block.
  • the width of the spacer plate 2 corresponds to the width of the spacing joint to be kept free of a rigid floor covering with respect to a wall.
  • the width of the in Figure 1 spacer plate shown is 15 mm.
  • the spacer 1 is also assigned a bracket 3, of which due to the in the Figure 1 selected perspective illustration only its retaining leg 4 can be seen.
  • the retaining leg 4 is strip-shaped and has a thickness of about 2 mm.
  • the retaining leg is a sheet steel part. The thickness of the retaining leg can also have a different dimension, in particular the retaining leg 4 can also only have a smaller thickness.
  • the holding leg 4 When using the spacer 1 when laying a rigid floor covering, such as a laminate, the holding leg 4 engages under the edge laminate panel. It is integrally formed on the retaining leg 4 of the retaining bracket 3, as shown in FIG Figure 2 recognizable, a holding shaft 5.
  • the holding shaft 5 is designed as a hexagonal shaft in the illustrated embodiment.
  • Figure 2 shows the spacer 1 in a sectional view in which it is used to keep a spacer joint free.
  • the holding leg 4 of the holding bracket 3 rests on the floor 6.
  • the spacer plate 2 has a bore 7 made in its lower longitudinal narrow side and is placed with this on the holding shaft 5.
  • the rear of the spacer plate 2 is supported on a wall 8 adjoining the base 6, opposite which the spacer joint is to be kept free.
  • a laminate panel 9 is then placed on the holding leg 4 and, with its end face facing the wall 8, is pushed up to the surface of the spacer plate 2 in this regard. In this process, too, due to its safe standing up, there is no risk of the spacer 1 not remaining in position and tipping over.
  • the spacer plate 2 is first pulled off the holding shaft 5 of the respective holding bracket 3.
  • the holding bracket 3 can then be pivoted about the longitudinal axis of its holding shaft 5 in order to rotate the holding leg 4 out of its position engaging under the laminate panel 9 until its longitudinal axis is approximately aligned with the longitudinal axis of the spacer plate 2. Then the bracket 3 can be pulled out of the joint. For this reason, the width of the retaining leg 4 is smaller than the spacing joint to be set up.
  • Figure 3 shows a further spacer plate 2.1 in a section within its longitudinal plane.
  • This is basically constructed like the spacer plate 2, but differs from it in that its bore 7.1 extends through the spacer plate 2.1 as a whole.
  • the spacer plate 2.1 has a contour 10 running parallel to a narrow-sided termination, the spacer plate 2.1 overall penetrating contour 10, which is designed as an inner polygonal contour, complementary to the hexagonal contour of the holding shaft 5 of the holding bracket 3 Section of the holding shaft 5 is attached and the spacer plate 2.1 can be used as a tool for pivoting the holding leg 4 out of its position in which it engages under the laminate panel 9.
  • the spacer plate 2.1 can be plugged onto the holding shaft 5 of the holding bracket 3 with both longitudinal narrow sides pointing downwards due to the penetrating bore 7.1.
  • the clear width of the bore 7 or 7.1 is matched to the outer circumferential surface of the holding shaft 5, so that a certain amount of play remains between these two elements.
  • Figure 4 shows a further embodiment of a spacer 1.1.
  • the spacer 1.1 has a spacer plate 2.1, as described above Figure 3 is described.
  • the bracket 3.1 of the spacer 1.1 differs from the bracket 3 of the embodiment of Figures 1 and 2 in that its holding shaft 5.1 extends through the hole 7.1 as a whole and that an adjusting handle 11 is attached to the free section protruding from the spacer plate 2.1.
  • the adjusting handle 11 protrudes from the holding shaft 5.1 in the same direction as the holding leg 4.1. In this way, on the basis of the position of the adjusting handle 11, the direction in which the holding leg 4.1 engages under a floor covering resting on it can be recognized.
  • the holding leg 4.1 By pivoting the adjusting handle 11, as indicated by the arrow in Figure 4 indicated, the holding leg 4.1 is also pivoted. It goes without saying that for this purpose the adjusting handle 11 and the holding leg 4.1 are connected to the holding shaft 5.1 in a rotationally fixed manner.
