ART ANTERIEURPRIOR ART

Date mechanisms conforming to the definition given in the preamble are already known. The patent document CH 685 585 , in particular, describes an annual calendar mechanism which has all the characteristics listed above. In particular, this mechanism comprises a driving wheel set which carries two fingers offset both angularly and in height and which are arranged to drive the date wheel set. It is also important to note that, according to the aforementioned patent document, the first and the second finger are not rigidly fixed to the driving wheel set, but on the contrary are integral with a disc which is itself adjusted freely on the wheel set. coach. Finally, a pin is still fixed on the driving mobile to drive the disc in rotation. With this feature, the first and second finger are free to pivot forward away from the pin. The choice of this particular construction is motivated by safety considerations. Indeed, it is known that, in a usual calendar watch, it is important not to try to manually correct the date when the time indicated by the hands approaches midnight. Otherwise, there is a risk of breaking a component by forcing the teeth of the date wheel set against the finger of the driving wheel set. It will therefore be understood that the particular construction which has just been described constitutes a form of security system making it possible to avoid mishandling. It will be understood that thanks to this security system, if by chance the wearer of the watch decides to manually advance the date of the calendar around midnight, the teeth of the date wheel set will be able to push the two fingers forward effortlessly of the mobile trainer.

However, the security system which has just been described has certain drawbacks. For example, when the hands indicate a time which is early in the morning, and the wearer of the watch then manually moves the hands back until they indicate a time which is the previous evening, this change of displayed time is not accompanied by a corresponding change in date. In fact, the safety system prevents the fingers of the driving wheel set from driving the date wheel set backwards. A solution to this problem could be to do without the security system. However, as we will now see, this expedient does not solve all the problems.

As has already been said, the annual calendar mechanism described in the aforementioned prior document has all the characteristics listed in the definition given in the preamble. In particular, its date wheel carries a rocker arranged in an off-centre position. This rocker is equipped with a single tooth. The rocker is arranged to selectively occupy one or the other of two positions, one for which the rocker tooth is on the trajectory of the second finger of the drive wheel set, so that the second finger can cause the date wheel set to pivot by one step , and the other for which the tooth is outside the trajectory of the second finger. At the end of a 30-day month, the angular position of the month cam is such that the rocker tooth is on the path of the second finger of the drive wheel set. Under these conditions, the passage of the second finger has the effect of driving the rocker and causing the calendar wheel to advance by one step, which thus passes from the position corresponding to the 30 th day of the month to that corresponding to the 31 st . A few minutes or tens of minutes later, it is the first finger which drives one of the 31 teeth of the date mobile by one step every day, thus causing it to pass from the position corresponding to the 31st day of the month to that corresponding on the 1st day of the following month.

It will be understood from the foregoing that at the end of a 30-day month, the calendar wheel must precisely occupy the angular position corresponding to the 30th day of the month so that the rocker tooth is on the trajectory of the second finger of the trainer mobile. Then, as soon as the calendar wheel has moved to the position corresponding to the 31 st day of the month, the rocker tooth is located away from the trajectory of the second finger. The second finger therefore only serves to drive the rocker finger at the end of the 30-day month to cause the date wheel set to pass from the angular position corresponding to the 30 th day of the month to that corresponding to the 31 st . Under these conditions, if the date display indicates the first day of the month, and the wearer of the watch manually moves the hands backwards until they indicate a time situated the day before, the calendar mobile cannot move back. only one step. The date display therefore indicates the 31st day of the month, even when it is a 30-day month. Indeed, the second finger does not have the possibility of driving the rocker tooth backwards when the date wheel set occupies the angular position corresponding to the 31st day of the month. In In fact, the rocker tooth is not in the path of the second finger when the date wheel is in the position corresponding to the 31st day of the month.

DESCRIPTION DETAILLEE D'UN MODE DE REALISATIONDETAILED DESCRIPTION OF AN EMBODIMENT

The figure 1 is a partial plan view of an annual calendar mechanism corresponding to a particular embodiment of the invention. According to the invention, the date mechanism is arranged in a timepiece so as to be driven by the movement of the timepiece.

By referring to the figure 1 , we can see first of all an hour wheel (referenced 11) forming part of the aforementioned watch movement (not shown) and a driving wheel set 13 which, in the present example, is arranged to be driven from the hour wheel 11 via a gear (not shown) ratio 1/2. It can also be seen that the mobile driver 13 carries a first finger 15 and a second finger 17 which are rigidly fixed to the mobile 13 in offset positions both angularly and in height. At each turn of the driving wheel set 13, the first finger 15 advances a date wheel 19 by one step, which is designed to complete a full turn in thirty-one steps. The figure 1 again shows a month 25 cam which is mounted free to pivot concentrically to the date wheel. The month cam profile 25 has alternating dips and dips, and as will be seen in more detail below, dips correspond to months with 31 days and dips correspond to months with less than 31 days. It can also be seen that a lever 27 is pivotally mounted on the plate of the date wheel 19. The lever 27 has two teeth 29, 31 which are contiguous and together form a toothing portion. It can be observed that, in the example illustrated, the spacing between the teeth 29 and 31 is substantially the same as the spacing between the teeth of the toothing 21 of the date wheel. We can also see a mobile of the months which includes a star of the months 33 provided with twelve teeth and a reference 35 fixed rigidly in a coaxial position on the star of the months. The transmission 35 is provided with a toothing which meshes with the toothing of a month wheel 37 which is integral and coaxial with the month cam 25.

As the gear ratio of the gear train connecting the hour wheel 11 to the driving wheel 13 is equal to ½, the driving wheel completes one complete revolution while the hour wheel completes two. The drive wheel set is therefore arranged to be driven by the movement of the timepiece at the rate of one revolution in 24 hours. In a manner known per se, the timepiece is also equipped with a time-setting device making it possible to manually control the position of the minute and hour hands from outside the timepiece. In the present example, the time setting is meshed with the minute gear train, so that it respectively activates the two hands via the roadway and the hour wheel 11. Like the mobile of drive 13 is kinematically connected to the hour wheel, it will be understood that the time setting of the timepiece also controls the drive wheel set and the date mechanism as a whole.

Lorsqu'en suivant sa trajectoire circulaire, le deuxième doigt rencontre l'une des dents 29 ou 31, il la pousse devant lui de manière à faire pivoter d'un pas la roue de quantième 19.The date wheel 19 is provided with a toothing comprising thirty-one teeth 21, and the first finger 15 is arranged to cause one of the teeth 21 of the toothing to advance by one step at each turn of the driving wheel set 13. will understand that, as the first finger is integral in rotation with the driving wheel 13, and that the latter can be actuated in one direction or the other, it allows the driving of the date wheel backwards as well as forwards . On the other hand, as already mentioned, rocker 27 is provided with a portion of teeth formed by two teeth 29 and 31. Rocker 27 also includes a cam follower 32 which is permanently biased against cam 25. Thus, when the month cam rotates relative to the date wheel 19, the cam follower changes from a dip to a lift of the cam, or vice versa, so that the rocker is caused to pivot between one and the other of two extreme positions depending on whether the current month has 30 or 31 days. When the cam follower presses against a lifting of the month cam, the toothing portion formed by the two teeth 29, 31 is, in the active position, superimposed on the toothing of the date wheel 19, whereas when the follower cam is located in a hollow of the cam, the tooth portion is retracted. As will be seen in greater detail below, the two teeth 29 and 31 are respectively a forward driving tooth and a rearward driving tooth. When the portion of rocker teeth 27 is not in the retracted position, the forward drive tooth 29 is on the path of the second finger 17 of the drive wheel set 13 when the date wheel 19 is in the position corresponding to the date 30, and the rearward drive tooth 31 is on this trajectory when the date wheel is in the angular position corresponding to the date 31. When following its circular trajectory, the second finger meets the one of the teeth 29 or 31, he pushes it in front of him so as to cause the date wheel 19 to pivot by one step.

The date wheel 19 further comprises a finger 23 arranged to cooperate with one of the twelve teeth of the month star 33 so as to drive it one step at each revolution of the date wheel set. In other words, the month wheel set and its star wheel 33 are arranged to be driven by one twelfth of a turn for each complete turn performed by the date wheel 19. As already mentioned, the month wheel set also includes a reference 35 which is fixed rigidly in a coaxial position on the month star. The toothing of the transmission 35 meshes with the toothing of a month wheel 37, itself integral with and coaxial with the month cam 25. The gear ratio is equal to 1 so that the month wheel 37 and the cam 25 months are rotated at the same speed as the 35 return and the 33 month star.

The picture 3 is an overall plan view of the same annual calendar mechanism. The sight of the picture 3 shows in particular the date display which, in a manner known per se, comprises a crown 41 divided into 31 sectors each bearing the indication of one of the numbers from 1 to 31. The crown is arranged to turn step by step under the dial of the timepiece so that the numbers from 1 to 31 are successively visible through a window (not shown). Crown 41 also has internal toothing 43 formed of 31 teeth. The step-by-step drive of crown 41 is ensured by a display driving mobile (reference 45). The display driving mobile is itself actuated from the date wheel 19 via a reduction gear train 47. It will be understood that, thanks to the arrangement which has just been described, the displayed number in the aperture is incremented by one unit each time the date wheel 19 advances by one step.

In accordance with the embodiment which is the subject of the present example, the display also includes a month disk 51 divided into 12 sectors which each bear the indication of one of the twelve months of the year. As shown in picture 3 , the month disk 51 is fixed rigidly to the month wheel so that it is driven step by step with the month star 33. It will therefore be understood that the display of the month passes from the indication of one month to that of the following month each time the finger 23 of the date wheel 19 returns to advance one of the teeth of the month star 33 by one step.

The operation of the date mechanism of the present example will now be described so as to illustrate certain advantages and characteristics of the invention. In accordance with the invention, rocker 27 is provided with a forward drive tooth 29 and a rearward drive tooth 31. Apart from time-setting and date, the forward drive tooth 29 fulfills exactly the same function as the rocker tooth of the annual calendar mechanism of the prior art described above. In particular, when the angular position of the month cam 25 is such that the toothing portion of the rocker 27 is in the active position (corresponding to a month of 30 days) and the calendar wheel occupies the angular position corresponding to the 30th day of the month, the forward drive tooth 29 is on the trajectory of the second finger 17 of the drive mobile 13.

On the other hand, as already mentioned, the forward 29 and rearward 31 drive teeth are separated from each other by an angle equal to one pitch of the date wheel 19. , rearward drive tooth 31 is arranged one step behind forward drive tooth 29. Thus, when the angular position of month cam 25 is such that rocker tooth portion 27 is in the active position (corresponding to a month of 30 days), the date wheel 19 must occupy the angular position corresponding to the 31st day of the month so that the rearward drive tooth 31 is on the trajectory of the second finger 17.

The second finger is integral with the mobile drive, and it traverses its circular trajectory at the rate of one revolution in 24 hours. Thus, when the display indicates the 30th day of a 30-day month, the passage of the second finger 17 has the effect of advancing the date wheel 19 by one step, which thus passes from the position corresponding to the 30th day of the month to that corresponding to the 31st. Then, if the drive wheel rotates a few more degrees, the passage of the first finger 15 will have the effect, as every day, of driving one of the 31 teeth of the date wheel set by one more step. The calendar wheel thus moves from the position corresponding to the 31st day of the month to that corresponding to the 1st day of the following month. It can be noted that, during this process, the rear drive tooth 31 was not stressed. It briefly found itself in the path of the second finger 17, but since this only passes once a day, the rearward drive tooth 31 did not have the opportunity to meet it before that the date mobile 19 still advances by one step to the position corresponding to the 1st day of the month.

When the mobile drive 13 is rotated backwards, things happen a little differently. At each turn of the driving wheel set 13, the passage of the first finger 15 has the effect of dragging a of the 31 teeth of the date mobile 19. When the date mobile thus comes to occupy the position corresponding to the 31st day of the month, and the month in question has 30 days, the rearward drive tooth is on the trajectory of the second finger 17 of the mobile drive 13. Under these conditions, if the mobile drive 13 still rotates a few degrees backwards, the passage of the second finger 17 will have the effect of driving a step backwards the rearward drive tooth 31, thus causing the date wheel 19 to pass from the position corresponding to the 31st day of the month to that corresponding to the 30th. Then, if the drive mobile 13 still rotates a little less than one revolution towards the rear, the passage of the first finger 15 will have the effect of driving one of the 31 teeth of the mobile date 19. It can be noted that, during this retrograde process, the forward drive tooth 29 was not stressed. It was on the path of the second finger 17 for almost one revolution of the mobile drive 13, but as the latter rotates backwards, the passage of the first finger 15 takes place before the passage of the second 17, the tooth of rearward drive 31 has therefore not had the opportunity to encounter the second finger 17 before the date wheel 19 moves back another step to the position corresponding to the 29th day of the month.

It will also be understood that various modifications and/or improvements obvious to a person skilled in the art can be made to the date mechanism which is the subject of the present description without departing from the scope of the present invention defined by the appended claims.
