Definitions
- the invention relates to a sectional door panel with a front wall, a rear wall, a space between the front wall and the rear wall, a tooth-shaped projection on an upper side, an indentation on an underside and side end caps which at least partially cover the intermediate space with a side wall.
- the invention also relates to a sectional door which has a sectional door leaf formed from a plurality of sectional door panels, guide means attached to it, and a door frame.
- the invention is based on sectional door panels and sectional doors formed therewith, which are produced and sold by Novoferm GmbH, Isselburg and, in a comparable manner, by competitors. Please refer to the brochure "Sectional Door Systems for Garages, Welcome Home” from Novofermmaschines GmbH as of 2018.
- sectional door leaves are moved between a usually vertical closed position and a usually horizontal open position, for which purpose the door frame has approximately vertical frame sections, approximately horizontal frame sections and arcuate frame sections in between.
- the individual panels When driving through the arched section, the individual panels are angled against each other by joints arranged on the inside of the door leaf, so that a relative movement results between the ends of the sectional door panels.
- the tooth-shaped projections on the top of the panels as well as the associated indentation on the underside of the panels achieve a finger trap protection profile that despite the Bending the successive sectional door panels avoids the intervention of a finger.
- the front side of the tooth-shaped projection is usually curved in an arc or, for manufacturing reasons, shaped like a polygonal line, this arc or polygonal line expediently running roughly along a radius around the axis of rotation of the joints at which the successive panels are connected to one another.
- the indentation is then adapted to this arch shape in such a way that a permissible gap dimension is not exceeded during the pivoting movement described.
- Known sectional door panels are often formed from a front sheet metal shell and a rear sheet metal shell with a plastic foam arranged between them, which connects the sheet metal shells and overall contributes to the high stability of the panels. If these sheet metal shells forming the front wall on the one hand and the rear wall on the other hand are not connected directly but only via the plastic foam in accordance with a customary and preferred embodiment, a good insulation effect with regard to heat conduction in the direction of the thickness of the sectional door panels is achieved even with a simple structure.
- the invention is based on the object of improving the functional properties.
- the subject of the invention and the solution to the problem are a sectional door panel according to patent claim 1 and a sectional door according to patent claim 12.
- the end caps cover the indentation at least partially and preferably completely laterally and that the side walls formed by the end caps on an upper side wall section at least partially covering the tooth-shaped projection compared to an adjoining side wall section below with a horizontal offset in Direction of the adjacent front wall and rear wall are arranged.
- the individual sectional door panels are arranged one behind the other or one on top of the other, the tooth-shaped projection of one, usually lower, sectional door panel is inserted into the indentation of the following, usually upper, sectional door panel at the transitions.
- finger trap protection is thereby implemented against intervention from the outside of the sectional door leaf. Since in the context of the invention the indentation of the sectional door panels are covered by the side wall of the respective end cap and, on the other hand, a horizontal offset is provided for the upper side wall sections, the end caps of successive door panels can be arranged with an overlap.
- the upper side wall section, together with the tooth-shaped projection dips into the indentation of the subsequent sectional door panel, this indentation being laterally covered by the end cap of this sectional door panel.
- the offset is usually arranged so that at a parallel alignment of successive sectional door panels and in particular in the closed position of a sectional door leaf the successive end caps form an almost continuous flat surface without protrusions, protuberances or the like. This results in a particularly advantageous and visually appealing design.
- sectional door panels is based on a customary orientation that, in the case of a vertically closing sectional door, also corresponds to the arrangement in the closed position.
- the front wall and the rear wall then run in the horizontal direction along a width of the sectional door and in the vertical direction along a height of the sectional door.
- the front wall is arranged on the outside of a goal plate, which is also visible from the outside in a conventional arrangement on a garage.
- the rear wall faces the closed interior space, with joints for a pivotable connection of the sectional door panels being arranged in the area of the rear wall.
- the assignment of the tooth-shaped projection to the top and the indentation to the bottom also relates to the usual arrangement of the sectional door panels in the closed position.
- the sectional door panels can also be arranged in other ways.
- laterally closing sectional doors are also known, which can also be constructed from the sectional door panels described.
- sectional door leaf formed from the sectional door panels according to the invention is cleaned with a high-pressure cleaner. It should be taken into account that the sectional door panels according to the invention are not only suitable for garages but also as closures for trucks or the like.
- a preferred embodiment of the invention provides that at least in the area of the indentation the end caps with a lateral spacing gap to the end faces the front wall and the rear wall are arranged. If, for example, the front wall and the rear wall are cut exactly straight, the upper, laterally inwardly offset side wall section can be placed exactly on the end faces of the front wall and the rear wall. The spacing gap then provided on the side wall section adjoining below enables the overlapping arrangement in the manner described.
- the side wall section adjoining the offset below usually extends evenly to a lower end of the side wall.
- the end caps can also compensate for a slightly inclined cut of the front wall and the rear wall, in which case sufficient free space must always be provided so that the end caps can be arranged overlapping one another in the manner described.
- the end caps encompass the front wall, the rear wall and the space in a horizontal section in an approximately C-shape.
- the end caps cover the end face of the front wall and the rear wall, the end caps each having a front leg arranged on the front wall and a rear leg arranged on the rear wall.
- the fore leg and the hind leg extend in the described vertical alignment of the sectional door panels usually along the width and the height of the sectional door panels or a sectional door leaf formed therewith.
- the length of the fore leg and the rear leg along the width is usually different.
- the fore leg is preferably made relatively short so that the appearance of the front wall is not impaired.
- the length of the fore leg is selected to be at least so great that the provision of a spacing gap and a certain compensation in the case of a slightly inclined cut could be provided in the manner described.
- the fore leg typically has a length between 8 mm and 40 mm, in particular between 12 mm and 25 mm.
- the front leg can also be angled by a little more than 90 ° with respect to the side wall.
- the rear leg runs on the back of the sectional door panel or a sectional door leaf formed therefrom.
- the rear leg is expediently made longer, with joints, guide means, in particular in the form of rollers and other fitting parts, being provided on the inside of the sectional door leaf.
- the rear leg can also contribute to a considerable mechanical stabilization there, whereby certain visual restrictions can be accepted anyway due to the further fitting parts.
- the length of the rear leg along the width is typically between 50 mm and 100 mm.
- the rear leg expediently has bores for fastening screws among the like.
- the end caps can be manufactured in one piece from sheet metal in a particularly simple manner, the sheet metal thickness being, for example, between 0.5 mm and 2 mm, in particular between 0.8 mm and 1.2 mm.
- a one-piece design made of sheet metal is understood to mean, in particular, when each of the end caps is formed from a single sheet metal blank by punching and / or cutting as well as by forming.
- the side walls formed by the end caps can completely cover the gap, the tooth-shaped projection and the indentation from the side.
- the end caps have fastening holes into which screws or other fastening means are usually inserted in the assembled state.
- the front wall and the rear wall can each be formed from a formed sheet metal. In practice, these elements are then also referred to as half-shells. Corresponding profiles can also be produced in an endless process by profile rolling.
- the space is preferably filled with a filler material, in particular plastic foam.
- a filler material in particular plastic foam. If the front wall and the rear wall are then each formed from a sheet metal shell, as described above, then these can preferably only via the plastic foam and optionally also later attached fastening screws be connected to each other, so that a particularly good thermal insulation is achieved. Even if a direct connection of the half-shells formed from sheet metal is dispensed with, sufficient strength can be achieved through the foam structure in the manner of a composite element.
- the fore leg and the rear leg are preferably completely flat.
- the front leg preferably extends from the lower end of the side wall up to the offset or ends shortly before it.
- the offset can be formed in a simple manner only in the side wall by sheet metal forming.
- the offset is to be carried out so that the overlapping arrangement described is possible with the usual material thickness of the end caps.
- the offset between the upper side wall section and the adjacent side wall section below can be, for example, between 1 mm and 5 mm, in particular between 1.5 mm and 3 mm.
- the offset is preferably formed as a step running in a straight line along the thickness direction of the sectional door panels. Such a straight material deformation is also easily possible, the above-described essentially flat surface then being obtained in a closed position of several successive sectional door panels.
- the upper side wall sections at their upper end in the direction of the one below Tooth-shaped projection have a bevel, that is to say in particular a bend at an angle between 10 ° and 45 ° with respect to the vertical.
- the invention also relates to a sectional door with a sectional door leaf formed from a plurality of sectional door panels connected to one another in an articulated manner.
- Guide means in particular rollers, are attached to the sectional door leaf, the sectional door furthermore also comprising a door frame, which in particular can accommodate the aforementioned guide means.
- the sectional door can also be equipped with an electric drive in a known manner.
- the Fig. 1 shows a sectional door with a sectional door leaf 2 formed from a plurality of sectional door panels 1 connected to one another in an articulated manner.
- the successive sectional door panels 1 are provided with joints 3 connected with each other.
- guide means 4 in the form of rollers, the guide means 4 being received by a door frame 5.
- the door frame 5 has essentially vertical sections 5a, adjoining arcuate sections 5b and horizontal sections 5c.
- the sectional door leaf 2 In the closed position, the sectional door leaf 2 is arranged along the vertical sections 5a and closes the in the Fig. 1 building opening 6 shown. In the open position, the sectional door leaf 2 is located essentially between the horizontal sections 5c of the door frame 5.
- the Fig. 1 the sectional door leaf during an opening or closing movement or in a partially opened state, the sectional door leaf then also extending along the arcuate section 5b.
- the successive sectional door panels 2 are angled at the joints 3 so that the sectional door panels 2 move away from each other to a certain extent on the outside of the door leaf due to the rotary movement.
- the sectional door panels 1 have a known finger trap protection formation.
- the sectional door panels 1 have a tooth-shaped projection 7 on their upper side and an indentation 8 on their underside (see in particular Fig. 3 ).
- the assignment of a top side and a bottom side relates to the closed position of the sectional door leaf 2 and is essentially only used for a conceptual assignment of the individual parts or sections.
- the Fig. 2 shows a single sectional door panel based on this. It can be seen that an end cap 9 is provided on each of the two lateral ends, which end cap 9 can be manufactured from sheet metal in a particularly simple manner. According to the invention, it is provided that the end caps 9 laterally at least partially cover the associated indentation 8, with side walls 10 of the sectional door panels 1 formed by the end caps 9 on an upper side wall section 10a that at least partially covers the tooth-shaped projection 7 compared to an adjoining side wall section 10b with a horizontal offset 14 in the direction of an adjacent front wall 11 and rear wall 12 is arranged. Further details of this configuration emerge from the figures described below.
- Fig. 3 shows Fig. 3 with a parallel alignment of successive sectional door panels 1 (corresponding to the closed position) a vertical section through the transition area.
- the individual sectional door panels 1 have an intermediate space 13 between the front wall 11 and the rear wall 12, which is filled with plastic foam.
- the front wall 11 and the rear wall 12 are each formed from shaped metal sheets, which are also referred to as half-shells. These half-shells are connected by the plastic foam arranged in the space 13, the sheet metal profiles according to FIG Fig. 3 are not connected to one another directly but only via the plastic foam. Correspondingly, this results in good sound and heat insulation along the thickness direction y.
- the end caps 9 of successive sectional door panels 1 are arranged with an overlap so that an opening gap that would allow a finger to intervene is avoided even during an opening and closing movement on the sides of the sectional door panels.
- the transition area of successive sectional door panels 1 is also very well protected against drafts, driving rain or even water from a high-pressure cleaner.
- the successive end caps 9 each form an almost flat surface. This is achieved in that an offset is provided between the upper side wall section 10a and an adjoining side wall section 10b below, the upper side wall section 10b being offset in the direction of the adjacent front wall 11 and rear wall 12.
- the sectional door panel has a slightly reduced width along the width direction x of the sectional door leaf 2 in the region of the upper side wall sections 10 a due to the offset 14.
- the offset 14 is chosen so that the upper side wall section 10a can be arranged behind the side wall 10 of the sectional door panel 1 connected above without jamming and thus dips into the indentation 8 of the upper sectional door panel 1 together with the tooth-shaped projection 7.
- FIGS 5A to 5C show further details of the two end caps 9, which are usually mirror-symmetrical to one another in a sectional door panel, wherein due to the mirror symmetry in the Figures 5A to 5C only one of the two end caps 9 is shown as an example.
- the end caps 9 in a horizontal section are essentially C-shaped, the end caps 9 covering the end faces of the front wall 11 and the rear wall 12 and each having a front leg 15 arranged on the front wall 11 and a rear leg 16 arranged on the rear wall 12.
- the fore leg 15 and the rear leg 16 are completely flat and closed apart from individual fastening holes 17 in the rear leg 16.
- the fore leg 15 and the rear leg 16 have a significantly different length along the width direction x.
- the front leg 15 should not unduly impair the appearance of the sectional door leaf 2 on the outside.
- the fore leg 15 is therefore made comparatively short, but on the other hand certain dimensional deviations during the assembly of the end cap 9 should also be compensated for.
- the upper side wall section 10a overlaps with the side wall section of an end cap 9 adjoining above (see FIG Fig. 4 ) can be arranged.
- the length l 1 of the fore leg in the exemplary embodiment is 17.5 mm, for example, with the fore leg 15 being angled slightly more than 90 ° relative to the side wall 10 in order to also achieve a certain clamping effect relative to the front wall 11.
- the rear leg 16 is made wider (see also Fig. 1 ) wherein the length l 2 of the rear leg 16 along the width direction x can be, for example, 73 mm.
- the rear leg 17 is expediently made so wide that the joints 3 can also be fastened to the sectional door panels 1 through the fastening holes 17 of the rear leg 16.
- the end caps 9 have a comparatively simple structure and can be formed particularly easily from sheet metal with a thickness d of 1 mm, for example.
- the offset 14 is to be selected such that, despite the described thickness d of the sheet metal, the successive end caps 9 can be arranged in the described manner with an overlap on the tooth-shaped projection 7 or the indentation 8.
- the offset 14 can be, for example, x 2 mm along the width direction.
- the upper side wall sections 10a have a bevel 18 at their upper end in the direction of the tooth-shaped projection 7 below.
- a bend can be provided as a bevel 18 which, with respect to the vertical direction z, includes an angle between typically 10 ° and 45 °.
- the panel thickness D can be selected differently within the scope of the invention. Panel thicknesses between 18 mm and 80 mm are typical. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the panel thickness D measured at the end caps 9 is approximately 70 mm, for example.
- the fore leg 15 extends from a lower end of the end caps 9 to just before the offset 14, while the rear leg 16 is made shorter.
- the shorter version of the rear leg 16 is also provided in particular to arrange the joints 3 with their axis of rotation offset into the sectional door leaf 2.
- both the rear leg 16 and the fore leg 15 end in front of the offset 14, this can be formed in a particularly simple manner alone in the otherwise essentially flat side wall 10 by sheet metal forming.

Description
The invention relates to a sectional door panel with a front wall, a rear wall, a space between the front wall and the rear wall, a tooth-shaped projection on an upper side, an indentation on an underside and side end caps which at least partially cover the intermediate space with a side wall. The invention also relates to a sectional door which has a sectional door leaf formed from a plurality of sectional door panels, guide means attached to it, and a door frame.
The invention is based on sectional door panels and sectional doors formed therewith, which are produced and sold by Novoferm GmbH, Isselburg and, in a comparable manner, by competitors. Please refer to the brochure "Sectional Door Systems for Garages, Welcome Home" from Novoferm Vertriebs GmbH as of 2018.
During the opening and closing movement, sectional door leaves are moved between a usually vertical closed position and a usually horizontal open position, for which purpose the door frame has approximately vertical frame sections, approximately horizontal frame sections and arcuate frame sections in between.
When driving through the arched section, the individual panels are angled against each other by joints arranged on the inside of the door leaf, so that a relative movement results between the ends of the sectional door panels. The tooth-shaped projections on the top of the panels as well as the associated indentation on the underside of the panels achieve a finger trap protection profile that despite the Bending the successive sectional door panels avoids the intervention of a finger.
The front side of the tooth-shaped projection is usually curved in an arc or, for manufacturing reasons, shaped like a polygonal line, this arc or polygonal line expediently running roughly along a radius around the axis of rotation of the joints at which the successive panels are connected to one another. The indentation is then adapted to this arch shape in such a way that a permissible gap dimension is not exceeded during the pivoting movement described.
Known sectional door panels are often formed from a front sheet metal shell and a rear sheet metal shell with a plastic foam arranged between them, which connects the sheet metal shells and overall contributes to the high stability of the panels.
Starting from a generic sectional door panel with a front wall, a rear wall and an intermediate space formed between them, the invention is based on the object of improving the functional properties.
The subject of the invention and the solution to the problem are a sectional door panel according to patent claim 1 and a sectional door according to
If, in the formation of a sectional door leaf from several of these sectional door panels, the individual sectional door panels are arranged one behind the other or one on top of the other, the tooth-shaped projection of one, usually lower, sectional door panel is inserted into the indentation of the following, usually upper, sectional door panel at the transitions.
As already described in relation to the state of the art, finger trap protection is thereby implemented against intervention from the outside of the sectional door leaf. Since in the context of the invention the indentation of the sectional door panels are covered by the side wall of the respective end cap and, on the other hand, a horizontal offset is provided for the upper side wall sections, the end caps of successive door panels can be arranged with an overlap.
With a parallel alignment of successive sectional door panels, the upper side wall section, together with the tooth-shaped projection, dips into the indentation of the subsequent sectional door panel, this indentation being laterally covered by the end cap of this sectional door panel. The offset is usually arranged so that at a parallel alignment of successive sectional door panels and in particular in the closed position of a sectional door leaf the successive end caps form an almost continuous flat surface without protrusions, protuberances or the like. This results in a particularly advantageous and visually appealing design.
The description of the sectional door panels is based on a customary orientation that, in the case of a vertically closing sectional door, also corresponds to the arrangement in the closed position. Correspondingly, the front wall and the rear wall then run in the horizontal direction along a width of the sectional door and in the vertical direction along a height of the sectional door. The front wall is arranged on the outside of a goal plate, which is also visible from the outside in a conventional arrangement on a garage. The rear wall, on the other hand, faces the closed interior space, with joints for a pivotable connection of the sectional door panels being arranged in the area of the rear wall.
The assignment of the tooth-shaped projection to the top and the indentation to the bottom also relates to the usual arrangement of the sectional door panels in the closed position. It goes without saying that the sectional door panels can also be arranged in other ways. For example, laterally closing sectional doors are also known, which can also be constructed from the sectional door panels described. For the sake of better readability, however, reference is essentially made below to the customary, previously described arrangement, without thereby limiting the possible uses.
If the successive sectional door panels are angled against each other during the opening or closing movement during the movement of a sectional door leaf, they move out of the associated indentations through the tooth-shaped projections. Due to the above-described overlap of the end caps, however, a cover is also ensured on the side and thus also a certain finger trap protection on the side, which cannot be implemented in this way according to the prior art.
In addition, however, there are also a number of other advantages, in particular when a door leaf formed from several of the sectional door panels described is closed. In the case of sectional door leaves or sectional door panels according to the state of the art, sealing against drafts and moisture is often insufficient despite the usual sealing arrangements, because relatively large gaps and cracks cannot be avoided with the known design, especially at the lateral ends of the sectional door panels. The overlap on the successive end caps provided according to the invention now effectively closes this area. An improved seal against the passage of drafts can thus be achieved. The overlap also provides improved protection against driving rain and soiling.
In addition, a good seal can even be ensured if a sectional door leaf formed from the sectional door panels according to the invention is cleaned with a high-pressure cleaner. It should be taken into account that the sectional door panels according to the invention are not only suitable for garages but also as closures for trucks or the like.
So that the upper side wall section of the end caps can be arranged with a horizontal offset in the direction of the adjacent front and rear walls with respect to the adjacent side wall section below, a preferred embodiment of the invention provides that at least in the area of the indentation the end caps with a lateral spacing gap to the end faces the front wall and the rear wall are arranged.
The side wall section adjoining the offset below usually extends evenly to a lower end of the side wall.
The end caps can also compensate for a slightly inclined cut of the front wall and the rear wall, in which case sufficient free space must always be provided so that the end caps can be arranged overlapping one another in the manner described.
As is also known in principle from the prior art, the end caps encompass the front wall, the rear wall and the space in a horizontal section in an approximately C-shape. In the context of such an embodiment, the end caps cover the end face of the front wall and the rear wall, the end caps each having a front leg arranged on the front wall and a rear leg arranged on the rear wall. The fore leg and the hind leg extend in the described vertical alignment of the sectional door panels usually along the width and the height of the sectional door panels or a sectional door leaf formed therewith.
The length of the fore leg and the rear leg along the width is usually different. The fore leg is preferably made relatively short so that the appearance of the front wall is not impaired. On the other hand, the length of the fore leg is selected to be at least so great that the provision of a spacing gap and a certain compensation in the case of a slightly inclined cut could be provided in the manner described.
The fore leg typically has a length between 8 mm and 40 mm, in particular between 12 mm and 25 mm. In order to achieve a clamping lock, the front leg can also be angled by a little more than 90 ° with respect to the side wall.
The rear leg, on the other hand, runs on the back of the sectional door panel or a sectional door leaf formed therefrom. For functional reasons, the rear leg is expediently made longer, with joints, guide means, in particular in the form of rollers and other fitting parts, being provided on the inside of the sectional door leaf. Correspondingly, the rear leg can also contribute to a considerable mechanical stabilization there, whereby certain visual restrictions can be accepted anyway due to the further fitting parts.
Against this background, the length of the rear leg along the width is typically between 50 mm and 100 mm.
While the fore leg is preferably continuously closed, the rear leg expediently has bores for fastening screws among the like.
The end caps can be manufactured in one piece from sheet metal in a particularly simple manner, the sheet metal thickness being, for example, between 0.5 mm and 2 mm, in particular between 0.8 mm and 1.2 mm. A one-piece design made of sheet metal is understood to mean, in particular, when each of the end caps is formed from a single sheet metal blank by punching and / or cutting as well as by forming.
In order to optimally protect the end faces of the front wall and rear wall as well as the gap, according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the side walls formed by the end caps can completely cover the gap, the tooth-shaped projection and the indentation from the side. However, it should not be ruled out that the end caps have fastening holes into which screws or other fastening means are usually inserted in the assembled state.
The front wall and the rear wall can each be formed from a formed sheet metal. In practice, these elements are then also referred to as half-shells. Corresponding profiles can also be produced in an endless process by profile rolling.
The space is preferably filled with a filler material, in particular plastic foam.
The fore leg and the rear leg are preferably completely flat. The front leg preferably extends from the lower end of the side wall up to the offset or ends shortly before it. Thus, the offset can be formed in a simple manner only in the side wall by sheet metal forming.
The offset is to be carried out so that the overlapping arrangement described is possible with the usual material thickness of the end caps. Taking into account the typical sheet metal thicknesses for the end caps, the offset between the upper side wall section and the adjacent side wall section below can be, for example, between 1 mm and 5 mm, in particular between 1.5 mm and 3 mm.
The offset is preferably formed as a step running in a straight line along the thickness direction of the sectional door panels. Such a straight material deformation is also easily possible, the above-described essentially flat surface then being obtained in a closed position of several successive sectional door panels.
In order to enable easy insertion during the assembly of the sectional door panels and also to avoid jamming later during operation, a development of the invention provides that the upper side wall sections at their upper end in the direction of the one below Tooth-shaped projection have a bevel, that is to say in particular a bend at an angle between 10 ° and 45 ° with respect to the vertical.
The invention also relates to a sectional door with a sectional door leaf formed from a plurality of sectional door panels connected to one another in an articulated manner. Guide means, in particular rollers, are attached to the sectional door leaf, the sectional door furthermore also comprising a door frame, which in particular can accommodate the aforementioned guide means. The sectional door can also be equipped with an electric drive in a known manner.
