Definitions

  • the invention relates to a wired earphone for at least one ear, the connecting cable being removable.
  • Wired earphones are often used, for example on stages, for voice communication systems or for listening to music. Unlike headphones, earphones are attached in or on the ear and have a section that can be inserted at least partially into the ear canal. This is why they are also called in-ear headphones. This section is often also used to attach the earphones to or in the user's ear. However, such an attachment in the ear is often not sufficient, e.g. for artists who move on stage.
  • connection cables of wired earphones are sensitive and often lead to problems such as cable breaks. Therefore, earphones with a removable connection cable are known.
  • the connection cable is connected to the housing of the earphones, in which the sound transducer is located, with a detachable plug connection. This allows the cable to be replaced if the housing and the sound transducer continue to be used. This makes sense because the transducer is usually the most valuable component of the earphone.
  • the housing can also be individually adapted to a user, which also makes it a valuable component.
  • the plug connection is also sensitive and is often damaged after just a few plugging processes. An earphone with a robust and reliable plug-in connection for the connection cable would therefore be desirable.
  • US 2015/104035 A1 shows an earphone with a cable that can be screwed on through a coaxial connector.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a wired earphone that is easy to attach to or in the ear and holds securely.
  • the connection cable should be able to be connected to the earphone housing with a robust and reliable, detachable plug connection.
  • an earphone comprises at least one housing and a removable connecting cable, the connecting cable being detachably attached to the housing via a rotatable plug connection.
  • the plug connection includes a coaxial plug with rotationally symmetrical, electrically conductive (metallic) plug contacts and is surrounded by a plastic coating.
  • the plastic casing forms a first bearing point for absorbing mechanical forces acting laterally on the plug, while at least one of the plug contacts of the coaxial plug forms a second bearing point for absorbing such forces.
  • the mechanical stability is ensured by the fact that a distance from the first to the second bearing point is greater than the diameter of the coaxial connector.
  • the plug connection is more robust and easier to handle than with conventional earphones with a removable connection cable.
  • the earphones can be inserted into the ear more easily because the rotation of the plug connection has been optimized.
  • Fig. 1 shows an exemplary overall view of an earphone 100 according to the invention with a removable cable.
  • the earphone contains an earphone housing 110 (one or more parts) and a connection cable, of which only the cable plug 200 inserted into an opening in the housing 110 is shown here.
  • a sound transducer (not shown), the sound of which can be emitted through a connection 120 for an earmold (not shown).
  • Fig. 2 shows, in a first embodiment, a schematic sectional view of a plug 200 of the connecting cable 250.
  • the plug 200 is a coaxial plug, so that the plug connection is rotatable when plugged in. Therefore, the cable on the earphones can simply be turned into a desired position, as described in more detail below.
  • the coaxial plug has rotationally symmetrical metallic plug contacts 230,240 and is surrounded by a plastic casing 210,220.
  • the plug contacts 230,240 include a central pin 240 and a cylindrical, tube-like external contact 230, which are electrically insulated from each other (not shown).
  • the plastic casing comprises a first, inner plastic casing 220 and a second, outer plastic casing 210.
  • the second plastic casing 210 surrounds at least a section of the first plastic casing 220 and consists of a softer plastic than the first plastic casing 220.
  • the inner, first Plastic casing 220 made of a hard plastic
  • the outer, second plastic casing 210 made of a rubber-like, elastic plastic.
  • Fig. 3 shows a schematic sectional view of the earphone housing 110 of the first embodiment with an electrical (ie electrically conductive) socket 130 and contacts 230, 240 of a cable plug 200 inserted therein.
  • the plug 200 has, accordingly Fig. 2 , a softer, outer plastic jacket 210 and a harder, inner plastic jacket 220.
  • the radial forces are derived from at least two bearing points of the plug as lateral forces F 1 , F 2 onto the housing, namely on the outer plug contact 230 and on the plastic casing 210.
  • the plug is inserted into a housing opening to such an extent that at least one front part of the plastic casing or both plastic casings 210,220 in the opening and the plug 230,240 in the socket 130 is located.
  • the two bearing points are separated from each other by at least the diameter of the plug contacts. Therefore, the inserted plug has less room to move in the earphone socket and does not wear out as easily.
  • practically no torque acts on the inner plug contact 240 according to the invention.
  • first bearing point which is formed by the plastic casing.
  • the outer, soft or elastic plastic casing 210 has a shoulder 211 on which the first bearing point is located.
  • the second bearing point on the plug contacts 230,240 of the coaxial connector The exact position of the first bearing point can be somewhere in the area of the shoulder 211, while the exact position of the other bearing point can be somewhere in the area of the plug contacts 230,240. Therefore, the distance between the two bearing points can vary between a minimum value L min and a maximum value L max .
  • a mean value L can be assumed as a typical value.
  • this distance is always (even in the case of the minimum value L min ) greater than the diameter d of the (outer) plug contact 230 of the coaxial connector at the second bearing point.
  • the diameter of the shoulder 211 can be precisely matched to the size of the opening in the housing, so that a press fit is formed when the plug is inserted. However, this can be rotated axially so that the inserted cable can be rotated. This is particularly advantageous if the cable has a specific shape that is adapted to the user's ear (for example if the user has already worn the earphones before). The user can then rotate the earphones relative to the cable so that they sit comfortably in the ear. The cable should not be able to rotate too easily so that it remains in the position set by the user.
  • the press fit is dimensioned such that a torque in the range of 0.7 - 2 Ncm is required to rotate the cable.
  • a value in the range of 1 - 1.5 Ncm is particularly advantageous, for example 1.2 Ncm. At values below 0.5 Ncm it can easily happen that the housing already twisted during insertion. At values above 2 Ncm, both inserting the plug into the housing and turning it into a desired position become difficult.
  • An optimized torque can also be achieved differently, for example by the plastic casing at least on the shoulder 211 (and/or the opening in the housing) not being rotationally symmetrical, but rather slightly oval or provided with a nose, or by the plug connection having one or more preferred positions, which must first be overcome in order to turn. For this purpose, it is particularly advantageous if this part of the plastic casing, in this example the outer plastic casing 210, is soft or elastic.
  • the plastic casing must also stabilize the plug, it is advantageous to provide an inner plastic casing 220 that is made of harder material.
  • the inner plastic coating 220 enables strain relief of the electrical connection between the strands of the cable 250 and the plug contacts 230,240.
  • FIG. 4 shows a schematic sectional view of the earphone housing 110 with the cable plug inserted and the support wire 280 inserted into the connection cable.
  • the wire ensures that the connection cable can be bent individually in an area near the ear and remains in this shape. This allows the user to bend this area of the cable so that it can be placed around the auricle and improves the hold of the earphones on the ear. The individual bend makes the receiver comfortable for the user to wear.
  • the support wire 280 is cast in the plastic casing or at least in the inner, harder plastic casing 220 and is thereby permanently secured.
  • the support wire 280 is a simple wire.
  • the support wire consists of several individual wires. It is particularly advantageous to strand or twist several individual wires together, as in Fig. 5 shown.
  • a stranded support wire is easy to bend and retains its shape, but is more resistant to fatigue failure. Therefore, a stranded wire does not break as easily as a single wire.
  • Fig. 6 shows schematically in a plugging cycle how the plug 200 of the connecting cable is inserted into the housing 110.
  • the plug is often tilted slightly, as in Fig. 6 a) shown.
  • the bottom (or the end) of the housing opening can in principle be funnel-shaped or conical.
  • the outer contact 230 of a coaxial connector is at least as long as the inner contact 240 and therefore engages first.
  • the inner contact of the coaxial connector can be significantly longer than the outer one, so that the funnel-like guide acts on the inner contact.
  • the plastic casing 220 of the plug is also shaped in such a way that it tapers towards the front and therefore forms no or only a very small edge on which the plug could tilt when inserted.
  • a conical guide with straight walls
  • another guide that tapers towards the socket and is suitable for guiding the plug can also be used.
  • Fig. 7 shows a schematic sectional view of a second embodiment of a plug 700 of the connecting cable 750, while in Fig. 8 The bearing points of a plug of the second embodiment inserted into an earphone housing are shown schematically.
  • the plug 700 is also a coaxial plug with rotationally symmetrical metallic plug contacts 730,740, which are surrounded by a two-part plastic casing 710,720.
  • the inner plug contact 740 and the two-part plastic casing 710,720 correspond to the first embodiment described above.
  • the outer, softer plastic casing 710 can form a press fit with the housing 810 when the plug connection is inserted.
  • the outer plug contact 730 is provided with a circumferential groove 735, which serves to engage a spring contact 820, as in Fig. 8 shown.
  • the radial force F 2 acts on the front bearing point, which is located on the front edge of the groove 735 or in front of it.
  • the front bearing point can be located in front of it if, for example, additional bearing is provided in the bushing (not shown).
  • the radial force F 1 at the rear bearing point acts on the shoulder 711 of the outer plastic casing 710, particularly in the rear (cable-side) area of the shoulder.
  • the distance L between the two Bearing points from each other can vary in the range from L min to L max and is at least the diameter d of the outer plug contacts.
  • the plug is inserted up to step 712, which then, as in the first exemplary embodiment, abuts the housing 810 of the earphone, from which in Fig. 8 only one section is shown.
  • the plug 700 is held in this position by the spring contact 820, so that the radial force F 1 always acts in the rear area of the shoulder.
  • the shoulder 711 in this example is not designed all around, but rather as a plurality of lugs. These can also be designed to be slightly conical, ie slightly tapered towards the front. However, the exact shape of the shoulder can vary. It can also, like other features described such as the flexible wire, be applied to the other embodiment, even if such a combination is not expressly mentioned here.
  • the invention can be advantageously used for wired earphones in which the cable is removable.
  • the invention is advantageous if, in addition to fastening the earphones in the ear canal, the connecting cable is fastened lying around the auricle.
