Claims (14)

  1. An apparatus for producing packs (10) for cigarettes, having a preferably continuously driven conveying means (32), in particular a transporting belt (42) with drivers (43), for the purpose of transporting the packs (10) in a predetermined conveying direction (44), and having a device for applying printing carriers, such as revenue stamps (26), labels, coupons or the like, to a side surface of the packs (10), wherein the device has a holder (49) for at least one pack (10), characterized in that the device is designed to move the at least one pack (10) in the holder (49) into a relative position suitable for a printing carrier to be applied, in that the device for applying printing carriers can apply the printing carrier to a first side surface (23) of the pack (10), said first side surface being oriented counter to the conveying direction (44) of the packs (10) on the conveying means (32), such that a portion (54) of the printing carrier projects laterally beyond the first side surface (23) of the pack (10), and in that the apparatus is designed so that, once the printing carrier has been applied, it sets down the pack (10) again on the conveying means (32) in the original relative position, and in that the projecting portion (54) can be folded, by means of a folding mechanism (55) of the device, against another, second side surface (14) of the pack (10), said second side surface being arranged adjacent to the first side surface (23) of the pack (10).
  2. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the holder (49) is bounded by walls (63, 64, 65, 66) for the purpose of forming a pocket for the at least one pack (10), wherein the apparatus is designed such that the pack (10) is exposed, and is not concealed by walls (63, 64, 65, 66) of the holder, in the region of the printing carrier which is to be applied.
  3. The apparatus as claimed in claim 2, characterized in that the holder (49) for the at least one pack (10) is open in the region of a side which is oriented counter to the conveying direction (44) of the packs (10) on the conveying means (32), and therefore the at least one pack (10) can be fed via the corresponding opening in the holder (49).
  4. The apparatus as claimed in claim 2 or 3, characterized in that the holder (49) for the at least one pack (10) has at least to some extent no wall (63, 64, 65, 66) in the region of a further side surface (14) of the pack (10), and therefore a region of a corresponding side surface (14) of the at least one pack (10) is exposed for the purpose of the projecting portion (54) of the printing carrier being applied by means of the folding mechanism (55).
  5. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1 or one of the other preceding claims, characterized in that the folding mechanism (55) is arranged in a movable manner, in particular a pivotable and/or rotatable manner, alongside the holder (49).
  6. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1 or one of the other preceding claims, characterized in that the folding mechanism (55) is designed to serve as a lateral guide for the at least one pack (10) when the latter is being fed to the holder (49).
  7. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1 or one of the other preceding claims, characterized in that it is designed for a pack whose two side surfaces (14, 23) of the pack (10) to which the printing carrier is applied are arranged at an angle, in particular transversely, preferably at an angle of 90°, to one another.
  8. A method for producing packs for cigarettes (10), having a preferably continuously driven conveying means (32), in particular a transporting belt (42) which has drivers (43) and by means of which the packs (10) are transported in a predetermined conveying direction (44), and wherein a side surface of the packs (10) is provided with printing carriers, such as revenue stamps (26), labels, coupons or the like, wherein the packs (10) are raised up from the conveying means (32) for the purpose of the printing carrier being applied and are moved into a suitable relative position for the purpose of the printing carrier being applied and are then set down again on the conveying means (32), wherein the printing carrier is applied to a first side surface (23) of the pack (10), said first side surface being oriented counter to the conveying direction (44) of the packs (10) on the conveying means (32), such that a portion (54) of the printing carrier projects laterally beyond the first side surface (23), wherein the pack (10) is introduced into a holder (49) and, by way of said holder, is raised up from the conveying means (32) and rotated such that the side surface (23), which is oriented counter to the conveying direction (44) on the conveying means (32), is directed toward the device for applying the printing carrier, for the purpose of the printing carrier being applied to the pack (10), and that, once the printing carrier has been applied, the pack (10) is set down again on the conveying means (32) in the original relative position, wherein, while the pack (10) is being guided back to the conveying means (32), the projecting portion (54) is folded, by means of a folding mechanism (55) of the device, against another, second side surface (14) of the pack (10), said second side surface being arranged adjacent to the first side surface (23) of the pack (10).
  9. The method as claimed in claim 8, characterized in that the projecting portion (54) of the printing carrier is folded, by means of the folding mechanism (55), against the other side surface (14) of the pack (10) before the pack (10) is set down again on the conveying means (32).
  10. The method as claimed in claim 8 or 9, characterized in that the folding mechanism (55) is arranged in a movable manner, in particular a pivotable and/or rotatable manner, in the region of the conveying means (32).
  11. The method as claimed in claim 10, characterized in that the folding mechanism (55) is moved into a first position, in which the folding mechanism (55) serves as a lateral guide for the pack (10) when the latter is being fed to the holder (49).
  12. The method as claimed in claim 10 or 11, characterized in that the folding mechanism (55) is moved, in particular is pivoted and/or rotated, into a second position for the purpose of the projecting portion (54) of the printing carrier being folded against the second side surface (14) of the pack (10).
  13. The method as claimed in any one of the claims 8 to 12, characterized in that the pack (10) is transported on the conveying means (32) in a state in which it lies flat on the latter and has a longitudinal axis in a direction transverse to the conveying direction (44) of said conveying means, and therefore the first side surface (23) is oriented counter to the conveying direction (44).
  14. The method as claimed in any one of the claims 8 to 13, characterized in that the pack (10) is transported on the conveying means (32) in a state in which it lies flat on the latter and has the second side surface (14) oriented parallel to the conveying direction (44).
