- A method of applying an adhesive film portion (45) separated from a strip-shaped adhesive foil (29) onto a book case (28),- in which a book case (28) is put onto a pressure-absorbing surface (53) of a matrix (54) of a pressure-exerting device (50) and is aligned in its position with respect to said pressure-absorbing surface (53) by means of an aligning device (71),- in which a gripping device (38) is associated, when in an initial position in a gripping station (36), with a pressure-exerting surface (37) and said gripping device (38) grips the adhesive film portion (45) of the strip-shaped adhesive foil (29), with at least one guiding device (48) for laterally aligning the adhesive film portion (45, 47) in the gripping station (36) being provided in and/or upstream from said gripping station (36),- in which the adhesive film portion (45) is transferred to said pressure-exerting device (50), which is disposed adjacent thereto, and is transmitted to a pressure-exerting die (51) of said pressing-exerting device (50),- in which subsequent to the transmittal of the adhesive film portion (45) to the pressure-exerting die (51) the adhesive film portion (45) is released from the gripping device and the gripping device (38) is returned to the gripping station (36) and a further adhesive film portion (47) disposed in the gripping station (36) is gripped by said gripping device (38),- subsequently, said first and said further adhesive film portions (45, 47) are separated using a cutting device (60),- in which the pressure-exerting die (51) and the pressure-absorbing surface (53) of the pressure-exerting device (50) are joined together and the adhesive film portion (45) is applied onto, and adhered to, the book case (28), and- in which subsequently to the adhering of the adhesive film portion (45) onto the book case (28), the pressure-exerting die (51) and the pressure-absorbing surface (53) are moved apart from each other and the pre-laminated book case (28) is removed.
- The method as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the pressure-exerting die (51) is moved towards the pressure-absorbing surface (53), which is fixedly disposed on a base frame (32) of the device (31), and in that it is activated using a given amount of contact pressure and a given duration of pressure exposure.
- The method as claimed in claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the gripping device (38) has at least one suction apparatus (44) and a vacuum is applied for gripping the adhesive film portion (45, 47) of the strip-shaped adhesive foil (29), and in that the pressure-exerting die (51) has at least one suction apparatus (55), a vacuum being applied for gripping the adhesive film portion (45, 47), and in that preferably upon transmittal of the adhesive film portion (45) from the gripping device (38) to the pressure-exerting die (51) the vacuum of the gripping device (38) is released once the vacuum has been applied to the pressure-exerting die (51).
- The method as claimed in any of the preceding claims, characterised in that a cutting device (60) is provided between the gripping station (36) and the pressure-exerting device (50), and in that preferably one cutting element (61) of the cutting device (60) is provided on the gripping device (38) and a further cutting element (62) of said cutting device is provided on a drive mechanism (63) present in a base frame (32), and in that in particular said cutting device (60) is activated so as to form a separating cut once said adhesive film portion (45) has been gripped by the pressure-exerting die (51) and said further adhesive film portion (47) has been gripped by the gripping device.
- The method as claimed in any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the pressure-exerting die (51) has a flap (65) including a land (67) provided thereon which is activated subsequent to the cut separating the adhesive film portions (45, 47) and prior to applying the pressure-exerting die (51) onto the pressure-absorbing surface (53), in such a manner that the land (67) is moved to join the plane of the pressure-exerting die (51).
- The method as claimed in any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the pressure-absorbing surface of the matrix (54) is heated to a temperature ranging between 20 and 80 °C.
- The method as claimed in any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the adhesive foil (29), preferably in the form of a hotmelt adhesive foil provided with a separating layer made, in particular, of silicone paper, or in the form of a thermoreactive adhesive film, is provided on a roll and is preferably applied onto the book case (28).
- The method as claimed in any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the tension in the strip of the adhesive foil (29) is controlled via a braking device.
- A device for applying an adhesive film portion (45) separated from a strip-shaped adhesive foil (29) onto a book case (28), including:- a base frame (32) and a housing (33) at least partially enclosing said base frame (32),- a winding spool (34),- a gripping station (36) to which the adhesive film portion (45, 47) of the strip-shaped adhesive foil (29) is supplied from the winding spool (34),- at least one guiding device (48) provided in and/or before the gripping station (36) for laterally aligning the adhesive film portion (45, 47) in said gripping station (36),- a pressure-exerting device (50) to which a gripping device (38) may be transferred from the gripping station (36) for the purpose of transmitting the adhesive film portion (45, 47), and which has a pressure-exerting die (51) for receiving the adhesive film portion (45, 47) from the gripping device (38),- a cutting device (60) by means of which the adhesive film portion inserted into the pressure-exerting device (50) may be separated from the adjacent, further adhesive film portion (47) present in the gripping station (36), and- a pressure-absorbing surface (53) which is provided on a matrix (54) of the pressure-exerting device (50) and has an aligning device (71) thereon and on which a book case may be positioned, with the pressure-exerting die (51) and the pressure-absorbing surface (53) being positionable with respect to each other, while exposed to pressure, in a manner permitting the adhesive film portion (45) to be positioned on the book case (28), wherein once the gripping device (38) has been returned to the gripping station (36), the cutting device (60) is located between the gripping station (36) and the pressure-exerting device (50) and in this position may perform a separating cut between the adhesive film portions (45, 47).
- The device as claimed in claim 9, characterised in that the gripping station (36) has a pressure-exerting plate (37) with a pressure-exerting surface which is fixedly disposed on a base frame (32) and in that, associable therewith, a gripping device (38) with at least one suction apparatus (44) is provided, and in that preferably the gripping device is displaceable by means of a linear axial drive (39) comprising at least one linear axis (41) movable in an X direction and at least one linear axis (42) movable in a Z direction.
- The device as claimed in claim 9 or 10, characterised in that the guiding device (47) is formed by the guide surface provided at the entrance side of the pressure-exerting plate (37) or in that the guiding device (47) is formed by guide discs provided on at least one deflection pulley (35) arranged upstream from the gripping station (36).
- The device as claimed in any one of claims 9 to 11, characterised in that a cutting element (61) of the cutting device (60) is provided on an end face of the gripping device (38) facing towards the pressure-exerting device (50).
- The device as claimed in any one of claims 9 to 12, characterised in that the pressure-exerting device (50) has a linear drive (52) and the pressure-exerting die (51) is activated to be movable towards the pressure-absorbing surface (53), and in that preferably the pressure-exerting die (51) of the pressure-exerting device (50) has at least one suction apparatus (55), and preferably the pressure-exerting surface of the pressure-exerting die (51) may be enlarged by means of a flap (65).
- The apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 9 to 13, characterised in that the housing (33) has a zone of access to the pressure-absorbing surface (53) of the pressure-exerting device (50) for the purpose of positioning a book case (28).
- The apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 9 to 14, characterised in that the pressure-absorbing surface (53) of the matrix (54) is heatable and/or the pressure-absorbing surface (53) of the matrix (50) has an ejector device (72).
