Definitions
- the invention deals with ammunition or with a grenade.
- the invention specifically relates to a distance ignition for a particular 40mm ammunition or grenade.
- Such munitions may consist of a warhead or projectile, an explosive charge, and a high/low pressure propulsion system.
- the grenade projectile can be removed.
- the grenade projectile has an active part on the front, consisting of a specially shaped stand-off hood, eg made of aluminum or plastic, a cylindrical, possibly pre-fragmented projectile casing, eg made of steel or heavy metal, with an explosive charge stored therein.
- a ground fuse is provided as the impact fuse.
- a grenade with a base fuse designed as a self-destructive and impact fuse is known.
- the grenade is equipped with the largest possible explosive charge in a thin-walled projectile jacket and is characterized by the fact that a needle riveted in the head of the projectile jacket, penetrating the projectile centrally and acting on the detonator capsule, which also serves for the base detonator, is provided for the instantaneous impact ignition.
- the U.S. 8,800,448 B2 shows a spacer device.
- a projectile has a protruding nose that shifts as the projectile hits a target.
- the nose has a semicircular geometric shape.
- the system uses a delay detonation element. The delay time of the delay detonator and the speed at which the spacer bounces off the door determine the distance at which the spacer will detonate the projectile. In doing so, the spacer device is designed so that the projectile rebounds to the effectively desired distance and explodes, explosively loading the door with sufficient force to open the door.
- the detonation delay here can be in the range of 75 to 100ms, the distance in the range of 8 to 14 inches.
- the U.S. 8,413,586 B2 discloses a modified 40mm grenade capable of smashing open a door.
- the grenade comprises a projectile having a spacer device on the nose.
- the standoff serves to detonate the explosive in the projectile before the nose of the projectile strikes a target, ie the standoff device detonates the explosive charge within the projectile before the nose of the projectile actually strikes the target. This creates a shock wave that impacts the target.
- the spacer device comprises a tube and a contactor that has circumferential grooves that lock the contactor in the tube, allowing different nose-to-target distances to be set.
- the object of the invention is to specify ammunition that takes account of the aforementioned concerns and meets the new requirements.
- the invention is based on the idea of demonstrating ammunition according to claim 1 or claim 4 with a high explosive effect, which does not achieve its effect on or in the target via the formation of splinters but via pressure.
- the present invention provides a mechanical ignition point shift similar to that U.S. 8,431,586 B2 before. This shift in the ignition point is achieved by providing mechanical distance ignition. This distance ignition serves in particular to increase the area on the target medium that is subjected to detonation pressure. A splintering effect on the target is minimized. Due to the mechanical distance ignition delayed ignition initiated.
- a spacer is provided for the distance ignition function. This spacer causes a certain distance to the target when the projectile hits. Through the spacer, the projectile can be lengthened compared to conventional projectiles. The ignition process is initiated as soon as the spacer hits a target, although the projectile itself has not yet hit the target.
- the energy of the detonation is always the same with the same explosive in the projectile. The further away from the target this blast is triggered, the lower the power at the target.
- the correct distance to the target is therefore an important component, which is reflected in the choice of the length of the spacer. The correct distance determines the pressure wave.
- spacers of different lengths can also have different geometric shapes.
- the spacer can be designed, for example, in the form of a cylindrical spike. Alternative forms are known.
- the spacers can also consist of different or different materials and combinations thereof. This can be plastics, aluminum, rubber or the like.
- the different lengths and/or materials can be determined experimentally, among other things.
- at least one pressure sensor can record the pressure at a target, which each spacer releases at the target depending on its length and/or its material.
- the length and, if applicable, the material of a spacer and the pressure achieved at the target with this spacer are then stored. This data can then be accessed in the event of an operation in order to obtain a desired pressure wave at the target.
- tables can also be prepared that provide information about the optimal length, also in conjunction with the optimal material of the spacer.
- the spacer changes the pressure effect on reinforced targets, barricades or cover.
- the projectile can create different pressure conditions.
- a maximum pressure effect can be set and thus predetermined on/in the target.
- the spacer is preferably designed as an independent, modular assembly.
- the spacer can be integrated into a projectile and/or extendable.
- the spacer is interchangeable with another spacer. If the spacer is integrated into the projectile so that it can be extended, the length of the spacer can be adjusted by extending and retracting it.
- the extension can be done manually or automatically. An automatic exit can be initiated with the launch energy of the projectile. It is known that the projectile is impacted at a high speed. Thus, it can be provided that a safety device of the projectile's launching holder is removed and the extension is regulated via the spin. Detents within the projectile can then assist in setting and locking the length of the spacer.
- the spacer can be located in front of the projectile.
- the modular mechanical attachment or spacer can be attached to the ammunition or projectile without tools, i.e. without tools. In the simplest way, this has, for example, a thread for screwing the spacer in or onto the ammunition.
- Alternative detachable connections, such as clips, bayonet, etc., are known and can also be used.
- the spacer can advantageously be exchanged for another spacer on site and attached to the ammunition or the projectile. It is also possible to deactivate the spacer on site.
- the ammunition consists of a warhead or projectile with a preferably mechanical base fuse.
- the projectile here is a warhead.
- Preferred explosives are those which are instantaneously converted, typically from a solid state to a gaseous state. This can be a specially modified explosive with a pressure level over a longer period of time. Highly explosive blast enhanced charges are known which fulfill this task.
- the ammunition can also be used as an offensive grenade as a "room cleaner".
- the ammunition forms a highly effective special solution for various access techniques (Methods of Entry, MOE).
- MOE Metals of Entry
- the ground detonator as an impact detonator contains a pyrotechnic self-destruct mechanism, which ensures a safe detonation in the event of a soft impact, e.g. an impact against snow, moss, mud, etc., or if it does not function on the first impact.
- the mechanical attachment or the spacer itself can contain agents such as pyrotechnics, explosives, irritants, etc.
- the projectile is carried by a cartridge case to which the projectile is attached in a known manner.
- a high/low pressure chamber system in the cartridge case ensures constant internal ballistics and leads to constant muzzle velocity and excellent aiming accuracy.
- the cartridge design ensures resistance to various environmental influences, such as temperature and humidity. Vibration, water, salt spray, etc. It seals the ammunition.
- the proposed solution concerns an offensive ammunition, with selection and setting of a maximum pressure effect on the target with minimum fragmentation.
- the ammunition ensures excellent aiming accuracy.
- the ammunition meets the highest safety standards and includes a possible self-destruct.
- the 1 shows ammunition 1 consisting of a projectile 2 with a base fuse 3.
- the base fuse 3 preferably works mechanically.
- the projectile 2 is also equipped with a hood 4 .
- the hood 4 has a means 5 on the front.
- the projectile 2 consists of a warhead 2.1, here preferably with a high-explosive blast enhanced charge.
- the projectile 2 is functionally connected to a cartridge case 7 in a known manner.
- the connection 8 can be a clamp or clip connection, for example. Alternative connections are known.
- the cartridge case 7 comprises a high/low pressure drive system which is formed by a high pressure chamber 9 and a low pressure chamber 10 .
- the spacer 6 is designed as an independent assembly. In the simplest embodiment, the spacer 6 can be screwed onto the projectile.
- the spacer 6 can consist of different materials and combinations thereof. Materials that can be used include plastics, rubber or aluminum.
- the ignition chain is formed by the base fuse 3 and the explosive of the warhead of the projectile 2 .
- spacers 6 can be functionally connected to a projectile 2 .
- the spacers 6 can be exchanged or replaced with one another.
- spacers 6, 6', 6" of different lengths and/or different shapes can be used.
- the different spacers 6, 6', 6" it is possible to calculate different impact times and, associated with this, different time or to initiate offset ignitions.
- the triggering of the ignition chain is influenced ( Fig.3 ).
- the spacer 6, 6', 6" is preferably designed as a spike. Geometric shapes of the spacer 6, 6', 6" or spike can be cylindrical, conical, truncated, square, etc.
- the spacer 6, 6′, 6′′ can be integrated and/or extendable in the projectile 2 in a further embodiment that is not shown in detail. In the integrated variant, the spacer 6, 6′, 6′′ can be exchanged for another one. The spacer 6, 6', 6'' can be extended and retracted manually or automatically.
- the spacer 6, 6′, 6′′ can also contain active agents 12, such as pyrotechnics, explosives, irritants, etc.
- the base fuze 3 on the projectile 2 as an impact fuze is designed to contain a pyrotechnic self-destruct charge to ensure a safe detonation in the event of a soft impact or failure on first impact.
- the operation of the ammunition 1 with a projectile 2 from a warhead with a high-explosive blast-enhanced charge is as follows: After an igniter 11 has been acted upon and a propellant charge has burned up in the high-pressure chamber 9 (not shown in more detail), the pressure in the high-pressure chamber 9 increases. These propellant charge gases reach the low-pressure chamber 10 via bores etc. that are not shown in detail.
- the projectile 2 is separated from the cartridge case 7, ie pushed out of the cartridge case 7 uniformly and without adverse pressure fluctuations, and accelerated.
- safety elements of the base fuse 3 are switched into an armed functional position (not shown in more detail) until the muzzle is reached.
- the projectile 2 flies towards a target and hits the spacer 6 (6 ', 6 ") on a target not shown.
- the focused ground fuse 3 is the impact of the Spacers 6, 6', 6" are activated and thus the ignition chain is initiated.
- a pressure wave is built up by the converted explosive of the projectile 2, which acts on the target.
- the size of the pressure wave is determined by the selected spacer 6, 6', 6" of the projectile 2 from the target.
- the distance of the projectile 2 from the target is thus determined by the length I, I', I" of the selected spacer 6, 6', 6" ( 3 ).
- This distance function is freely selectable by the user. This is how the distance function can be activated or deactivated. With a spacer 6, 6′, 6′′ integrated in the projectile 2, this can be implemented by retracting (deactivating) or extending (activating) the spacer 6, 6′, 6′′. If the spacer 6, 6′, 6′′ can be placed on the projectile 2, it can be deactivated, for example, by removing the spacer 6, 6′, 6′′. In this case, the firing chain is triggered when the projectile 2 hits the hood 4 .

Description
US 8,800,448 B2 zeigt eine Abstandshaltereinrichtung.
US 8,431,586 B2 vor.

Fig.3 ).
Fig. 3 ).
