Definitions
- the present invention relates to a soundproof room using sound absorber elements and sound absorber strips made from such elements.
- Sound-absorbing elements to improve room acoustics have been known for a long time.
- Acoustic ceilings made of plasterboard or fiberboard improve room acoustics, reduce reverberation and convert sound energy into heat.
- There are special solutions for sound or recording studios such as corner cabinets, as bass absorbers with long slots and fleece or foam backing.
- acoustic wall coverings are known, such as panels that are attached to the walls at various angles and sizes and serve as low-frequency absorbers for absorbing low sound frequencies. For the absorption of high sound frequencies, the use of perforated panels, which are attached at certain distances from the wall, is common.
- sound-absorbing and sound-insulating materials such as foam or felt, between the panels and the wall.
- the DE 10 2011 105 608 A1 shows a sound absorber arrangement in the manner of an edge absorber for low frequencies.
- the arrangement includes trough-shaped, preferably cuboid-shaped containers with fibrous or porous absorption material located therein, which have a sound-impermeable or sound-permeable covering.
- the containers are placed in the corners or edges of a room on the wall or ceiling.
- the sound absorber arrangement is characterized in that all the sides facing the room are impermeable to sound are trained. Only one side arranged obliquely, preferably perpendicularly, to a wall or the ceiling is designed to be absorbent with a smaller surface.
- the containers used must have a minimum size, for which appropriate space must be reserved locally. For example, a preferred embodiment uses a 400mm x 500mm thick homogeneous fibrous absorber placed on the floor near an edge of the room.
- the DE 10 2015 109 808 A1 describes a sound-absorbing component, in particular for outdoor use, comprising a sound-absorbing cover layer and sound-absorbing elements embedded therein with an increased degree of absorption compared to the cover layer.
- the EP 2 868 826 A1 describes a reinforced concrete element on the surface of which a partially exposed, sound-absorbing, at least partially open-cell foamed material is arranged. The reinforcement is partially enclosed by the foamed material.
- a ceiling element is also shown, which has several absorber strips made of geopolymer. If the concrete element is used as a ceiling slab, the absorber strips used run in the longitudinal direction but not in the corner areas between the wall and ceiling.
- the WO 95/30804 A1 shows a sound absorption system for interior walls and ceilings in buildings and a method for producing such a system.
- the system should be particularly suitable for large buildings such as concert halls and the like.
- the system uses a first layer of mineral wool attached to the wall or ceiling, for example by gluing, screwing or the like, and furthermore a second layer of fibres, in particular cotton fibres, which is attached to the first layer, for example by spraying.
- the DE 200 22 685 U1 describes an acoustically absorptive panel using expanded glass.
- the panel element is used to construct full-surface suspended ceilings or walls that can be placed in front.
- JPH10311105A discloses the features of the preamble of claim 1.
- Sound absorber elements made of sintered expanded glass granules, such as those supplied by Liaver GmbH & Co. KG under the brand name Reapor, are available on the market.
- a product sheet from ABC Acoustic GmbH, Berlin, from 2011 describes a room-acoustic solution for retrofitting in rooms with a floor area of up to 20 m 2 , whereby the opposite sides of the room should not be more than 5 m apart.
- absorbers made of open-cell foam based on melamine resin are attached in the form of a stucco edge in the upper room edges between the ceiling and the wall. The absorbers protrude approx. 14 to 35 cm into the room so that there is an air space between the absorber and the building wall on the back.
- the absorbers must be attached to the ceiling with special hangers.
- the object of the present invention is therefore to provide, based on the prior art, an improved sound absorber arrangement and a living room, work room or recreation room that is acoustically improved over as wide a frequency range as possible.
- the sound absorber arrangement should take up a minimal volume in the room, be barely noticeable visually, and still achieve a significant improvement in the room acoustics over a wide frequency range.
- the sound absorber arrangement should allow the desired absorption results to be achieved in rooms with a floor area >40 m 2 .
- the object is achieved by a soundproof room according to claim 1.
- the sound absorber arrangement comprises a plurality of sound absorber elements which are arranged in a room with a size of 40 m 2 to 130 m 2 , with walls and a ceiling closing off the room at the top.
- Several lined-up sound absorbing elements form one or more absorber strips, which / along a between Wall and ceiling of the room running upper abutting edge, ie in the corner area between wall and ceiling, at least partially extended.
- the absorber strip has a width of 200-400 mm, preferably 250-350 mm, particularly preferably 310 mm.
- the thickness of the absorber strip is 40-65 mm, preferably 50 mm.
- the sound absorbing elements have a length-specific flow resistance in the range of 8-10 kPa*s/m 2 , preferably 8-9 kPa*s/m 2 . Surprisingly, it has been shown that flow resistances outside the range mentioned do not lead to the desired absorption, even if the flow resistances in the sound absorber elements vary greatly and are therefore at least partly outside the range found by the invention.
- the length-specific flow resistance of the sound absorber elements used according to the invention preferably varies by less than 0.5 kPa*s/m 2 , preferably less than 0.3 kPa*s/m 2 , based on the area of such an element.
- This low scattering of the length-specific flow resistance particularly preferably applies over the entire absorber strip, with the length-specific flow resistance being considered on an area of the absorber strip ⁇ 0.5 m 2 , preferably ⁇ 0.3 m 2 , particularly preferably ⁇ 0.1 m 2 .
- the soundproof room according to the invention is used by people for living, working or other purposes. It has at least one absorber strip arranged on an upper edge of the room. It is essential to the invention that several sound absorbing elements are designed as absorber strips and extend along the upper edge of the room at least extend in sections.
- the sound absorber elements have the properties mentioned above in relation to the sound absorber arrangement.
- An essential advantage of the soundproof room realized according to the invention is that by arranging the absorber strip on the upper edge (abutting edge) of the room, a particularly high level of sound absorption can be achieved. This high absorption effect is achieved by the reflections of the sound waves occurring in this area both on the wall and on the ceiling.
- the absorber strip designed as an absorber strip can be retrofitted into existing rooms with little effort and requires little installation space. By arranging the absorber strip at the upper edge of the room, the areas and volumes available for other uses in the room are only minimally restricted.
- sound absorber elements with a length-specific flow resistance in the range of 8 - 10 kPa*s/m 2 , preferably 8 - 9 kPa*s/m 2 makes it possible for the first time to achieve very efficient sound absorption with only small volumes of the sound-absorbing material and the of the space occupied by the sound absorber arrangement in a wide frequency range.
- relatively thin sound absorbing elements can be attached directly to acoustically highly reflective building walls without leaving a significant air space in between. The building walls reflect the sound waves, which have already passed through the sound absorbing element, diffusely back into it, where further absorption can then take place.
- the length-specific flow resistance in the mentioned range is set, e.g.
- the sound absorbing elements consist of expanded glass granulate with a particle size of 0.25 - 4 mm, whereby the granulate is sintered in plate form or is connected with an added binding agent.
- the invention is thus based on a combination of the named properties of the sound absorbing elements and their named arrangement in space.
- the absorber strip extends all the way around the upper edges of the room.
- a surrounding absorber strip very good sound absorption is achieved. If, for example for structural reasons, it is not possible for the absorber strip to run all the way round, the absorber strip can also be interrupted in certain areas, in which case good soundproofing can also be achieved in this case.
- An advantageous embodiment uses several absorber strips. Each absorber strip in turn extends at least in sections on an upper edge of the space.
- the absorber strips can be designed, for example, in the form of narrow plates that are easy to handle and that preferably connect continuously to one another. However, gaps can also exist between individual absorber strips if this is necessary.
- the absorber strip is preferably attached to a wall or ceiling of the room. It extends to the top edge of the room, i.e. to the corner formed between the wall and the ceiling.
- the attachment can take place, for example, by means of a suitable adhesive.
- the absorber strip can also be fixed to the wall or ceiling using clamps or other suitable mechanical fasteners. It is also conceivable to use a carrier profile in which the absorber strip is clamped or fastened in some other way.
- the absorber strip consists of an acoustically effective, sound-absorbing, non-ductile foam.
- This is preferably a mineral material that forms a rigid foam.
- Glass-based, acoustically effective and diffusion-open foam has proven to be a particularly suitable material for the absorber strip preferably includes expanded glass granules.
- individual glass particles are connected to one another by sintering or a binding agent, which may contain fibers.
- the material used for the absorber strips is appropriately suitable for damp rooms, frost-proof, flame-retardant and very light and can therefore be used in a wide variety of rooms. It can also be easily cropped.
- the length-specific flow resistance of the sound absorber element required according to the invention can be set particularly easily by the grain sizes used, i.e. the grain size distribution in the preferably plate-shaped sound absorber element and/or the proportion of binder that is added to the expanding gas granules during production.
- the absorber strip has a width of 250 mm to 500 mm. Furthermore, a thickness of 25 mm to 60 mm has proven to be useful. An absorber strip designed in this way can be easily integrated and requires comparatively little installation space.
- a particularly good and unobtrusive integration of the absorber strip can be achieved by embedding it in the ceiling or wall.
- a corresponding recess is preferably made in the wall and ceiling.
- the absorber strip is preferably flush with the ceiling or the wall.
- This installation variant is particularly suitable for new buildings if the recesses are already taken into account in the planning phase, or for pending, fundamental renovation work.
- the recesses can, for example, in reinforced concrete ceilings, masonry walls or drywall constructions provided and then equipped with sound absorbing elements.
- a floor area of between 80 m 2 and 130 m 2 with a wall height of 2 to 3 m has proven advantageous for the soundproof room. Particularly good results in terms of sound absorption can be achieved in this area with the sound-absorbing absorber strip used.
- the room In order to achieve the best acoustic absorption effects in rooms with a floor area well over 120 m 2 , the room must be acoustically divided into several cells. This can be achieved by attaching further sound absorber elements which preferably have the same properties as the sound absorber elements used in the sound absorber arrangement according to the invention. The other sound absorbing elements are attached to the ceiling and thus divide the room into the cells mentioned. Alternatively, known acoustic baffles can also be used for this.
- reverberation times in the range from 0.6 s to 0.9 s can be achieved in furnished rooms, which corresponds to the desired value in communication rooms.
- the reverberation time is reduced from 2-4 s to 0.8 to 1.2 s by using the sound absorber arrangement.
- the sound absorber arrangement is particularly suitable for damping in the frequency range from 250 Hz to 4 kHz.
- absorber strips are attached both to the wall and to the ceiling of the room, each extending to the upper edge of the Room extend, ie collide in the corner between wall and ceiling.
- corner profiles made of absorber strips can also be used, which are attached directly in the corner area of the room.
- An embodiment is advantageous in which the surface of the absorber strip facing the room has a structured surface.
- the structuring can further improve the absorption properties and at the same time serve an aesthetic design, so that the absorber strip appears in the manner of a border or a frieze, for example.
- FIG. 1 shows a not-to-scale ceiling underside view of a soundproof room 01 according to the invention, which shows the upper edge area of the room 01.
- the floor area of the room is 40 - 130 m 2 .
- the room is equipped with a sound absorber arrangement according to the invention.
- a sound-absorbing absorber strip 03 extending along the abutting edges 02 is arranged circumferentially on the upper abutting edges 02 of the room 01 .
- the absorber strip 03 can be located either on the ceiling or on the wall of the room 01 and extends into the corner formed between the wall and the ceiling (butting edge).
- the wall or ceiling can have a recess for accommodating the absorber strip 03 completely or partially in cross section.
- the recess is particularly preferably designed in such a way that the absorber strip 03 can be inserted completely and is thus flush with the ceiling or wall.
- the absorber strip 03 consists of one or preferably several sound absorber elements made of a non-ductile foam, preferably a glass-based foam with a proportion of expanded glass granules. This material is well suited for soundproofing and is easy to process.
- the sound absorbing elements have a length-specific flow resistance in the range of 8-10 kPa*s/m 2 , preferably 8-9 kPa*s/m 2 .
- the absorber strip preferably has a width of between 250 mm and 500 mm and a thickness of 25 mm to 60 mm.
- the absorber strip 03 is preferably designed in the form of a plate. To form a circumferential absorber strip 03, several sound absorber elements are lined up continuously without a gap. In alternative embodiments the absorber strips 03 only partially extend to the upper abutting edges of the room 01.
- FIG. 2 shows an absorber strip 03 arranged on an upper edge 02 of the room 01 according to the invention.
- the reflections of diffuse sound waves occurring in this edge area are shown in a greatly simplified manner by means of arrows.
- the incident sound waves are mainly reflected in the area of the upper edge of the room on the wall and ceiling, which means that a particularly good absorption effect can be achieved using absorber strips03.
- FIG. 3 shows several measured value curves for the reverberation time over a wide frequency range in a diagram.
- the individual curves were recorded in the same room with a floor area of 10 x 20 m, with the walls and ceiling being made of standard reinforced concrete.
- Curve 1 shows the course of the reverberation time in the original room, i.e. without installing the sound absorber arrangement.
- Curve 2 shows the reverberation time after installing the absorber strips, attached to the ceiling all around the room, each running up to the upper abutting edge.
- the reverberation time decreases evenly across all frequencies by around 0.3 - 0.4 s. This result is not yet satisfactory and is due to the fact that the room has a floor area of significantly more than 120 m 2 .
- Curves 3), 4) and 5) show the reverberation times in the room if it was divided into acoustic cells with ⁇ 120 m 2 . This subdivision was achieved by attaching the same sound absorbing elements to the ceiling in the interior area straight lines along the room, resulting in a grid with areas of 1 x 200, 2 x 100 and 4 x 50 m 2 . Noticeably, the reverberation times are drastically reduced, by more than 1 s over the entire frequency range. The surprising effect occurs in acoustic room sizes from less than 100 m 2 . The acoustic absorption capacity can only be improved disproportionately by installing more than the described sound absorber arrangement. The absorber construction according to the invention thus shows an optimum in relation to the installed amount of absorber and the absorption capacity achieved.
