Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device having the features of the preamble of claim 1.
- the invention is in the technical field of the graphics industry and especially in the field of industrial inkjet printing (inkjet) on flat substrates, i. the application of liquid ink on sheet or web-shaped substrates, preferably of paper, cardboard, cardboard or plastic.
- liquid ink is carried out in the known DOD inkjet printing method (drop-on-demand) by a print image is produced on a flat substrate, with an ink print head (short: head) with individually controllable nozzles to the image to be printed according to finest ink droplets preferred in the picoliter range, generates and transmits these non-contact as pressure points on the substrate.
- the control of the nozzles can be done by means of piezo actuators.
- the printheads of industrial inkjet printing machines are connected to a device of the ink supply machine.
- a device of the ink supply machine has a reservoir for each color to be printed.
- the ink from the reservoir by means of a pump and through a line to the print head or to a series of printheads promoted (flow or inlet).
- Industrial ink printing machines usually have a circulating ink supply, ie unprinted ink is fed back to the reservoir (return), possibly with another pump.
- the ink supply can also be a filter, a degasser and a Have temperature, as well as a sensor for measuring the pressure of the ink liquid.
- the substrate and the inkjet print head are allowed to print while printing, i. during their relative movement to each other, do not touch, otherwise the highly sensitive nozzle surface of the head, which is usually made of silicon and similar filigree as a computer chip is designed to damage. It is therefore essential to maintain a minimum distance between the nozzle surface and the substrate or its surface facing the head. A disturbance of this distance can be e.g. a folded corner of the substrate (so-called "dog's ear") or a wave in the substrate. It can therefore be a monitoring device, e.g. with an optical sensor, to detect and eliminate such potential disturbances in a timely manner, e.g. by stopping the printing process, by discharging the printing material or by dynamically lifting the head into a safety position. This raising and lowering of the head can lead to undesirable movement of the ink in the head or the ink conduit and / or undesirable pressure fluctuations in the ink liquid and as a result, uncontrolled escape ink from the head or air can be sucked into the head.
- the JP 2015-178212 A discloses a device for printing substrate with ink.
- the apparatus comprises an ink jet print head and a reservoir connected thereto via a flexible ink conduit, all of which are mounted together on a carriage to be scanned.
- the reservoir is movably mounted on the carriage in the scan direction and adapted to reduce pressure fluctuations in the ink fluid.
- Scanning inkjet printing processes are not used in the industrial environment, ie in the production of bulk printed products, because of the low productivity. Scanning inkjet printing processes are also usually not used in conjunction with circulating ink supplies.
- an object of the present invention to provide a device which is improved over the prior art and which in particular makes it possible to avoid disturbances of the supply of an ink jet print head with ink in industrial, e.g. highly productive ink pressure and in conjunction with circulating, i. avoid high ink volume promotional ink supplies.
- An ink-jet printing device comprising: an ink jet print head having a plurality of individually controllable ink nozzles for ejecting ink droplets; an ink-filled ink conduit forming an inlet and / or a return for the ink jet print head; and a chamber connected to the ink conduit; wherein the ink print head, the ink conduit and the chamber are adapted to perform a common movement relative to the substrate; is characterized in that the ink conduit is part of a circulating ink supply for the ink jet print head; that the chamber is assigned a mass element; and that the position and / or shape of the mass element is variable relative to the chamber due to the co-movement, such that the volume of the chamber compensates for pressure variations in the ink and / or to compensate for movements of the ink - depends on the position and / or the shape of the mass element.
- the invention advantageously makes it possible to avoid interference with the supply of ink to an ink jet head in industrial, ie highly productive, inkjet printing and inks Interaction with circulating, ie high ink volume promoting, ink supplies to avoid.
- the mass element Due to its inertia, the mass element performs a compensating movement for co-movement of the ink jet print head, ink conduit, and chamber. This advantageously results in a compensation of undesired pressure fluctuations in the ink and / or a compensation of undesired movements of the ink.
- the volume of the chamber can be increased or decreased by this compensating movement, depending on the direction of movement. Potential pressure fluctuations in the ink and / or potential movements of the ink can be compensated by the variable chamber volume. Disturbances of the supply of ink can be avoided in this way. Even vibrations of the head lead in providing the invention does not cause the mentioned problems.
- the mass of the mass element is preferably in the range of 100 to 200 grams or less.
- a preferred embodiment of the invention may be characterized in that the mass element forms a movable wall of the chamber or a movable piston in the chamber.
- a preferred embodiment of the invention may be characterized in that the mass element is connected via a lever with a movable wall of the chamber or a movable piston in the chamber. By choosing the lever ratio, the maximum volume of the chamber can be selected.
- a preferred embodiment of the invention may be characterized in that the piston or the lever is associated with a spring and a damper.
- the movable wall, the movable piston, the lever, the spring and / or the damper may be miniaturized, e.g. in the form of a micromechanics.
- the mechanism may be integrated into a print head and / or carried out in the course of the production of the print head.
- a preferred embodiment of the invention may be characterized in that the mass element forms a deformable membrane or is arranged on a deformable membrane, wherein the membrane forms a wall of the chamber.
- a preferred embodiment of the invention may be distinguished in that the ink conduit comprises two throttles, i. an inlet throttle and a return throttle, which decouple a portion of the ink conduit before and after the ink jet head from the rest of the circulating ink supply.
- the decoupling reduces the volume of ink in which pressure fluctuations and / or ink movements are counterbalanced by movement of the mass element.
- the mass element can thus be dimensioned smaller and react more dynamically.
- a preferred embodiment of the invention may be characterized in that the two throttles are adjustable.
- the decoupled ink volume is adjustable.
- the setting can be made as a function of the expected common movement or its distance and / or dynamics.
- a preferred development of the invention may be distinguished by the fact that the ink line forms an inlet for a first and at least one further ink print head and that the chamber is connected to the ink line in front of the first ink print head.
- a preferred development of the invention can be distinguished by the fact that the ink line forms a return for a last and at least one further ink print head and that the chamber is connected to the ink line after the last ink print head.
- a preferred development of the invention can be distinguished by the fact that the inkjet print head is stationary during trouble-free printing and only in the event of a fault, the common movement with the ink line and the chamber - substantially vertically to the surface of the printing material - performs.
- the head (or heads) rests during printing and only the substrate is moved.
- FIG. 1 shows a device 1 according to the invention a machine 2, for example an industrial ink printing machine 2, when printing the surface 3a of a printing substrate 3, eg paper.
- the printing material may have a disturbance 3b, for example a kink or a wave.
- the ink jet head may perform a controlled movement 35, such as an up and down movement.
- the ink printing machine 2 may include a plurality of printheads 4a to 4c in series, or also a print bar having a plurality of printheads.
- the invention is explained below at head 4a.
- Head 4a comprises a nozzle surface 5 with at least one ink nozzle 6, preferably a plurality of separately controllable nozzles, for ejecting ink 7 on an ink meniscus 8 and producing an ink drop 9 which forms a pressure point on the paper upon impact.
- the meniscus is preferably always kept in the illustrated shape and position, otherwise ink could drip uncontrollably from the head or air could be sucked.
- the required ink pressure is about -10 mbar and is preferably kept substantially constant by the invention.
- the device 1 comprises a circulating ink supply (ink circulation) with an ink line 11, an inlet 11a and a return 11b for the ink 12 and with an inlet manifold 13, a return manifold 14, a feed pump 15 and a return pump 16.
- the pumps are preferably controllable pumps to keep the pressure in the ink liquid substantially constant. Not shown is an ink reservoir in the ink circuit.
- the volume of ink in each manifold is about 100 to 200 ml, i. its weight at about 100 to 200 g.
- the head 4 (or the heads 4a to 4c and 4d, respectively), the ink duct 11 (or 11a and 11b) and a chamber 17 form an integrated unit 36, preferably with a common housing or a common support.
- This unit can be, e.g. to avoid the disturbance 3b, perform a controlled, common movement 35.
- the chamber 17 is shown. This has an opening 18, with which the chamber is connected to the ink conduit 11, that ink 7 can flow in and out through the opening in the chamber.
- the chamber has Side walls 19a and 19b, between which a movable wall 23 and a piston 23 is arranged.
- the piston is also shown in an alternative position 21. In this position 21, the piston is moved due to its inertia in the course of joint movement 35.
- the piston via a lever 24 (rotatably mounted on an axis 25) and a rod 25 with the movable mass element 20 is connected.
- a spring 27 and a damper 28 are provided to prevent uncontrolled swinging of the mass member.
- the mass of the mass element is about 100 to 200 g according to the mass of the ink to be moved. By reducing / throttling the ink volume, the mass of the mass element can also be reduced and this dimensioned due to smaller.
- an inlet throttle 31 and in the ink conduit 11 and 11b, a return throttle 32 are provided. Both throttles are preferably adjustable, e.g. by shifting within the ink conduit. As a result, the area 33 decoupled from the remainder of the circulating ink supply or its volume V can be set. Also in the region of the opening 18, a, preferably adjustable throttle 34 may be provided. This also acts as a damper (corresponding to damper 28).

Abstract
Description

- In
