Description

Description
COMPOSITION FOR ORAL HYGIENE
Technical Field
The present invention concerns a composition for oral hygiene. In particular, the composition can be used as toothpaste, as additive in a toothpaste or as active component in a device for a whitening treatment of the teeth.
Background Art
It has been known the need of ensuring a suitable oral hygiene so as to preserve the teeth health and prevent the insurgency of pathologies of the oral cavity. For this purpose, a routine deemed crucial by dentists and which must be performed on a daily basis is the teeth washing, carried out by using a toothbrush and a suitable toothpaste.
There are on the market different types of toothpaste, in the form of cream, gel, or in a mixed form. According to a widespread type, the toothpaste comprises, as active ingredients, mainly synthetic substances, such as for example fluorine-based compounds, capable of performing an antibacterial and caries-preventive function.
Despite the effectiveness of these type of toothpaste, it should be considered that some users may experience a sensitivity to certain synthetic substances or dislike particularly artificial flavours often associated with non-natural toothpastes. It has also been observed that the accidental ingestion of substances such as fluorine, in certain dosages, can involve risks for the users, in particular for children.
Therefore, in recent years it is widespread the tendency to develop kinds of tooth paste comprising substances of natural origin.
US 9,1 14,097 describes, for example, a composition for natural toothpaste comprising coconut oil as an antibacterial and whitening agent, preferably in a concentration comprised between 10% and 45% by weight, calcium bicarbonate as an abrasive agent and stevia as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent of the gums. The composition also includes vegetable glycerine, which acts as a moisturizing agent, and mint extract as a natural aroma.

[28] The powder green clay is then subjected to a ventilation process and to a drying process.
[29] Preferably, the drying treatment consists in sun drying.
[30] According to an aspect of the invention, the powder green clay is subjected to a purification treatment. The treated powder green clay is then mixed with a predetermined quantity of powder activated charcoal and with a predetermined quantity of powder white clay, creating a compound.
According to an aspect of the invention, the so-obtained compound is mixed with a predetermined quantity of helichrysum hydrolat.
Best Mode
The composition for oral hygiene object of the present invention comprises vegetable charcoal, ultra-ventilated green clay and white clay.
The combination of the above-mentioned substances gives the composition antiseptic, antibacterial, absorbent and whitening properties. The vegetable charcoal, also known by the term "activated charcoal", has high absorbent capacity thanks to its porous structure permitted by the pyrolysis process.
The high absorbency of the composition, due in particular to the charcoal and to the ultra- ventilated green clay, facilitates the inclusion of bacteria and other pathogenic microorganisms. In this way, besides an antibacterial action, also a whitening action of the teeth is ensured.
The ultra-ventilated green clay also provides remineralising, healing and disinfectant properties.
In particular, the ultra-ventilated green clay is a substance obtained from green clay, through ventilation and drying, preferably in the sun. The so-obtained material is then preferably subjected to purification. The ultra-ventilated green clay, unlike the generic bentonite, is neither toxic nor abrasive, and therefore does not corrode dental enamel, damaging it. The ultra-ventilated green clay is more pure and subtle than widespread bentonite, and is therefore more active. In this context, is defined "active" a clay with a high power of cation exchange, that is, a high capacity to exchange ions. In addition to the high power of cation exchange, the ultra-ventilated green clay is also characterized by a high adsorbent capacity. This gives ultra-ventilated green clay the ability to trap bacteria and microbes, toxins and wastes, and therefore the ultra-ventilated green clay has a high detoxifying power. Furthermore, the ultra-ventilated green clay is able to provide numerous minerals and trace elements, thus it also has remineralising capacity.
The white clay plays a bactericidal, antiseptic and healing function.
It was verified that the activated charcoal, the ultra-ventilated green clay and the white clay, by virtue of the similar structure, and in particular of similar porosity, when mixed are capable of exerting a synergistic action, enhancing the whitening, remineralizing and healing effect. Furthermore, it is advantageously enhanced the ability to absorb impurities, preventing the formation of caries and limiting bacterial plaque due to periodontal disease. Ultimately, the curative and whitening effect of the mixture is advantageously enhanced. [40] It is possible to provide that the composition includes helichrysum hydrolat, that has an antiinflammatory, soothing and healing action
[41 ] In particular, it was verified that the helichrysum hydrolat positively interacts with the mixture of activated charcoal, ultra-ventilated green clay and white clay, producing a synergistic effect that enhances the curative effects, in an advantageous and surprising manner.
[42] It is also possible to provide that the composition includes at least one essential oil, for example oil of sage, which contributes to make the composition an effective antiinflammatory and to enhance healing.
[43] The composition may also comprise, as essential oils, neem oil, which is a fungicide and antimicrobial agent, and oil of mastic, which is a carrier rehydrating agent.
[44] Another essential oil that can be included in the composition is the Melaleuca oil, known as "tea tree oil", which has antiseptic properties.
[45] It is possible to select the most suitable essential oils according to the characteristics of the composition to be obtained.
[46] The composition may also comprise glycerine, which works as a humectant.
[47] The composition may comprise at least one aromatic substance, preferably mint. Obviously, any other variety of aromatic substance can be used depending on preferences.
[48] Example 1
The composition for oral hygiene comprises:
- activated charcoal 1 -30%;
- ultra-ventilated green clay 1 -30%;
- white clay 1 -30%.
[49] The described composition is usable as whitening and curative toothpaste or can be used as an additive, in powder or in the form of drops, for a toothpaste, giving optimal whitening and antibacterial properties.
[50] A further possible use of the composition provides for its application in devices for the treatment of teeth, in particular intended to be arranged, in use, on the user's teeth in order to effect whitening treatments, to exploit the whitening properties of the composition.
[51 ] According to a preferred use, the composition is applied on dental masks predisposed to be arranged in a removable manner on the user's teeth to effect whitening treatments.
[52] The composition achieves the scope of performing a curative and protective and/or aesthetics function of the teeth using substances of natural origin.
[53] The use of activated charcoal, ultra-ventilated green clay and white clay gives it a high absorbency to pathogenic microorganisms resulting in effective antibacterial and antiseptic action. The killing of the bacteria and the active action against the proliferation of the bacteria are an excellent dental prevention of pathogens and therefore preserve the integrity and functionality thereof. It should be noted that the high absorbency is significant against diseases such as halitosis or certain periodontal diseases.
[54] The combination of the above substances of natural origin also allows to achieve an optimal whitening effect on the teeth thanks to the above-mentioned absorptive properties.
[55] The addition of substances such as helichrysum hydrolat oil and sage also confers antiinflammatory, soothing and healing properties, particularly useful in the presence of inflammation and/or tearing of the oral tissues, for example of the gums.
[56] The composition for toothpaste described by way of example is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations according to requirements.
