  12. Appliance according to the previous claim, wherein the detection means (14, 18) for detecting the passage into the open position and/or the passage into the closed position are magnetic detection means (14, 18).
  13. Appliance according to one of the previous claims, comprising temperature detection means (10) for measuring a value representing the temperature of the vaporising means (7) and wherein the control unit is programmed to receive a signal from the temperature detection means (10) and to control, in response to the signal, at least the peristaltic pump (6).
  14. Appliance according to one of claims 6 to 13, wherein the first hair treatment surface (4) and the second hair treatment surface (5) are complementing flat, curved or wavy surfaces which, in the closed position of the appliance, substantially correspond with each other to straighten, curl or crimp the hair.
