Definitions
- the present invention relates to tracer ammunition according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- a generic tracer ammunition based on magnesium and strontium peroxide is from the U.S. Patent No. 4,597,810 known.
- Pyrotechnic mixtures are disadvantageous for numerous reasons: their use often causes wildfires and / or serious injuries (burns); Heavy metal additives in pyrotechnics also cause sustainable environmental damage; they are classified as dangerous goods during transport and require special means of transport; they are relatively complex and expensive to manufacture; the procurement of raw materials is cost-intensive.
- the considerable change in the external ballistics of this type of projectile is particularly disadvantageous as a result of the burning of the pyrotechnic kits and the associated shift in the center of gravity. As a result, the actual task of tracer ammunition is not fulfilled, namely the increase in the accuracy of the ordnance ammunition by supplementing it with tracer ammunition is largely lost.
- chemiluminescence US-B1-6,497,181
- battery-powered LEDs battery-powered LEDs
- light-emitting diodes US-A1- 2004/0099173
- HLA - hybrid luminescence from photo and / or triboluminescent materials US -B1-8,402,896 .
- an infrared tracer ammunition which contains a pellet which contains a "tracer ignition composition", which contains boron and, as an oxygen carrier, potassium perchlorate and a luminous "tracer composition”.
- the latter consists mainly of magnesium and carbon-containing polymers and serves as a fuel. Ammunition with oxygen carriers has the disadvantage mentioned at the outset that it continues to burn at the target until the integrated oxygen carrier has been used up, which can lead to very serious injuries and is also generally dangerous.
- the exterior ballistics of a floor equipped with a "tracer” should not differ, or should differ only minimally, from a conventional series floor. No oxygen carriers or pyrotechnic mixtures should be used.
- a mixture of light metal or a light metal alloy and at least one carbon-containing substrate ignites when a cartridge-like projectile according to the invention is fired.
- the oxygen required for combustion is supplied to the fuel mixture only by a suitable design of the projectile during its flight.
- the carbon-containing substrate according to claim 3 increases the burning time of the light metal alloy and thus enables the tracing of the tracing of a projectile over its entire area of use.
- the tear-off edge mentioned in claim 4 leads to an intensive eddy formation in the fuel area of the projectile and thereby supplies the combustion chamber with atmospheric oxygen.
- Suitable designs of the combustion chamber can be found in claim 5, the fuel mixture and the center of gravity of the projectile being taken into account when choosing the dimensions.
- a sleeve-shaped design of the fuel is advantageous because its combustion can be controlled within certain limits; especially if it is sandwiched, concentrically layered.
- Figure 1 1 denotes the projectile of a small-caliber tracer ammunition not according to the invention.
- the front of the projectile is, as usual, designed as an ogive and its exterior ballistics are largely identical to a notoriously known ordnance ammunition.
- a combustion chamber 5 is provided in the floor 1, in which a fuel 5 'is used and which is sealed with a combustible sealing disk 6.
- the combustion chamber 5 has a sharp-edged bore, which serves as a tear-off edge 7 and one in flight Vortex formation is generated, which supplies the fuel 5 'with atmospheric oxygen.
- the floor 1 is patronized in the usual way; the cartridge 9 with its shot charge (propellant charge) 10 is shown in a partial section.
- This embodiment has the great advantage that, compared to mass-produced ordnance ammunition, only minimal changes to the rear of the projectile are required due to the installation of a combustion chamber with fuel 5 ′ and sealing washer 6.
- Light metals such as magnesium or titanium serve as fuel, which are inserted in powder or chip form together with a carbon-containing substrate such as cotton, graphite fibers or nitro cotton to enlarge the surface.
- the light metal or its alloy can also be processed in the form of powder, foam or foils, together with a substrate in the same or different form to form a "fuel pill".
- a filling quantity of 30 mg magnesium and 30 mg carbon fibers is sufficient.
- the typical pressure P generated in a small-caliber ammunition with caliber 8.5 mm when firing from the load is 350 to 500 Mpa.
- the gas temperature ranges from 2500 ° C to 3000 ° C.
- the usual launch speed is 850 m / s to 950 m / s.
- Spin-stabilized small-caliber ammunition is known to rotate at speeds of up to 250,000 rpm.
- Fig. 2 is a too Fig. 1 alternative non-inventive projectile l 'of caliber 8.5 mm, shown in the state of the launch.
- the pressure P is shown as a double arrow, in which case the projectile 1 'is already pressed out of the cartridge.
- the high gas temperature present in the rifle barrel, not shown, ignites the sealing disk 6 and thus also the fuel 5 ', which is sleeve-shaped here.
- the fuel 5 ' is supplied with oxygen via a supersonic diffuser 8 on the front and a bore 3 which ends in a turbulence bore 4.
- the bore 3 has a diameter d1 of 1 mm; the turbulence bore has a diameter d2 of 3 mm, while the combustion chamber 5 has a diameter D of 5 mm.
- the diameter jump from d1 to d2 acts as a tear-off edge and causes the turbulence necessary to supply the fuel 5 'with sufficient oxygen.
- Fig. 2a and Fig. 2b show the supersonic diffuser 8 and the bore 3, wherein Fig. 2b is a partial sectional view A - A.
- Fig. 3 is a flying medium-sized bullet 1 "according to claim 1 shown in a sectional view.
- This is a variant, for example according to Fig. 2 , where the atmospheric oxygen flows through the back pressure p through bores 3 'into the turbulence bore 4.
- tear edges 7 are provided for concentric intensification of the turbulence favorable for the combustion of the fuel 5 '.
- the direction of flight is labeled F; the light rays with L, in which state the previously existing sealing disc 6 has already burned.
- the subject of the invention prevents serious burn injuries (wound ballistics!) By suffocating the flames in the absence of oxygen at the target, which results in considerable progress compared to conventional traces of light.
- burn injuries wound ballistics

Description

Fig. 4 . - In
- In
Fig. 2a und Fig. 2b zeigen den Überschalldiffusor 8 und die Bohrung 3, wobeiFig. 2b eine Teilschnittdarstellung A - A ist. - In
