Definitions

  • the present invention further relates to a process for the preparation of this copolymer.
  • the present invention further relates to the use of this copolymer for modifying the crystallization of wax crystals in fuels.
  • Middle distillate fuels from fossil origin in particular gas oils, diesel oils or light heating oils, which are obtained from petroleum, have different paraffin contents depending on the origin of the crude oil.
  • solid paraffins are excreted at the cloud point or cloud point ("CP").
  • CP cloud point
  • the platelet-shaped n-paraffin crystals form a kind of "house of cards” structure and the middle distillate fuel stagnates, although its predominant part is still liquid.
  • the flowability of the middle distillate fuels is considerably impaired by the unusual n-paraffins in the temperature range between cloud point (cloud point) and pour point (“PP"); the paraffins clog filters and cause an uneven or completely interrupted fuel supply to the combustion units. Similar disturbances occur with light heating oils.
  • n-paraffins in middle distillate fuels can be modified by suitable additives.
  • Highly effective additives prevent middle distillate fuels from becoming solid at temperatures a few degrees Celsius below the temperature at which the first wax crystals crystallize out. Instead be fine, well crystallizing, separate paraffin crystals are formed, which pass through the filters in motor vehicles and heating systems even when the temperature is lowered further, or at least form a filter cake permeable to the liquid part of the middle distillates, so that trouble-free operation is ensured.
  • the effectiveness of the flow improver is usually expressed indirectly according to the European standard EN 116 by measuring the cold filter plugging point ("CFPP").
  • MDFI cold flow improvers or middle distillate flow improvers

  • the same additives can be used to improve the cold flow behavior as for pure middle distillate fuels.
  • a disadvantage of these additives when used in middle distillate fuels is that the paraffin crystals modified in this way, owing to their higher density compared to the liquid part, tend to settle more and more on the bottom of the fuel tank, for example the storage tank, when the middle distillate fuel is stored. This creates a homogeneous low-paraffin phase in the upper part of the container and a two-phase paraffin-rich layer on the bottom. Since the fuel is mostly withdrawn slightly above the tank bottom in both the vehicle tanks and the storage or delivery tanks of the mineral oil dealers, there is a risk that the high concentration of solid paraffins will lead to blockages of filters and metering devices.

    1. (A) mindestens einer ungesättigten Dicarbonsäure oder deren Derivate,

  • Beispiele
  • Herstellungsbeispiele 1 bis 16:
  • Schritt 1:
Tabelle A
