Abstract
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung dünner poröser Membranen aus vernetzbaren Siliconzusammensetzungen (S), bei dem in einem ersten Schritt eine Emulsion aus den Siliconzusammensetzungen (S) mit einem Porenbildner (P) in Gegenwart eines Emulgators (E) und gegebenenfalls Lösungsmittel (L) gebildet wird, in einem zweiten Schritt die Emulsion in eine Form gebracht und das Lösungsmittel (L) gegebenenfalls abdampfen gelassen wird, in einem dritten Schritt die Emulsion vernetzt wird, und in einem vierten Schritt der Porenbildner (P) aus der vernetzten Membran entfernt wird; die nach dem Verfahren herstellbaren Membranen sowie deren Verwendung zur Trennung von Gemischen, in Wundpflastern, als wasserabweisende und atmungsaktive Schicht in Textilien oder als Verpackungsmaterialien.
Description
Poröse Membranen aus vernetzbaren Siliconzusammensetzungen
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung poröser Siliconmembranen, sowie die damit erhältlichen Membranen und deren Verwendung .
Membranen sind dünne poröse Formkörper und finden Anwendung zur Trennung von Gemischen. Eine weitere Anwendung ergibt sich im Textilbereich, z.B. als atmungsaktive und wasserabweisende Membran. Ein Vorteil von Membran-Trennverfahren ist, dass sie auch bei niedrigen Temperaturen, wie beispielsweise bei
Raumtemperatur, durchgeführt werden können und somit im
Vergleich zu thermischen Trennverfahren, wie Destillation, energetisch weniger aufwändig sind.
Ein bekannter Prozess für die Verarbeitung von Celluloseacetat oder Polyvinylidenfluorid zu dünnen porösen Membranen ist die Phaseninversion durch Verdampfen. Ein Fällmedium oder eine zusätzliche Aufschäumreaktion wird dabei nicht benötigt. Im einfachsten Fall wird eine ternäre Mischung aus einem Polymer, einem leicht flüchtigen Lösungsmittel und einem zweiten
schwerer flüchtigen Lösungsmittel hergestellt. Nach der
Nassfilmbildung verdampft das flüchtige Lösungsmittel, was dazu führt, dass das Polymer in dem zweiten Lösungsmittel ausfällt und eine poröse Struktur ausbildet. Die Poren sind mit dem zweiten Lösungsmittel gefüllt. Das zweite Lösungsmittel wird danach aus der Membran entfernt, z.B. durch Auswaschen oder Abdampfen, und man erhält letztlich eine poröse Membran.
Beispielsweise ist in EP363364 die Herstellung von porösen PVDF-Membranen aufbauend auf diesem Herstellungsprozess beschrieben.
Die Verwendung dieses Prozesses für Silicone ist dem Fachmann nicht geläufig, da normalerweise, falls sich tatsächlich Poren beim Verdampfen ausbilden, diese aufgrund der noch vorhandenen
Fließfähigkeit des Silicons in sich zusammensacken und damit der Formkörper seine Porosität verliert.
Die Herstellung poröser Silicon-Membranen nach dem Loeb- Sourirajan-Verfahren ist bekannt. So wird z.B. in JP59225703 die Herstellung einer porösen Silicon-Membran aus einem
Silicon-Carbonat-Copolymer gelehrt. Durch dieses Verfahren wird ausschließlich eine anisotrope Porengröße entlang der
Filmschichtdicke erhalten. Daneben benötigt man dabei auch immer ein separates Fällungsbad.
DE102010001482 lehrt die Herstellung von isotropen Silicon- Membranen mittels einer verdampfungsinduzierten
Phasenseparation. Nachteilig bei diesem Verfahren ist jedoch die Tatsache, dass für diesen Prozess thermoplastische
Siliconelastomere notwendig sind, wodurch die so zugänglichen Membranen deutlich weniger temperaturstabil sind als
vergleichbare dünne Siliconkautschukfolien. Des Weiteren weisen thermoplastische Siliconelastomere einen unerwünschten
sogenannten „kalten Fluss" auf, wodurch die porösen Membranen unter Dauerbelastung ihre Membranstruktur ändern.
Demgegenüber beschreiben US2004234786 Silikonkautschuk- Membranen ausgehend von wässrigen Emulsionen oder
DE102007022787 faserverstärkte Silikonkautschuk-Membranen, welche sich durch ihre thermische Stabilität und dem Fehlen des „kalten Flusses" auszeichnen. Nachteilig bei diesen Verfahren ist jedoch, dass so nur nicht-poröse Membranen zugänglich sind, welche zwar als Wassersperrschicht verwendet werden können, aber keine nennenswerte Wasserdampfdurchlässigkeit aufweisen. Dabei wäre es vorteilhaft, wenn anstelle der, in diesen
Patentschriften erwähnten Silicon-Copolymeren, auch dünne poröse Membranen auf der Basis reiner Siliconkautschuke
hergestellt werden können, welche aufgrund ihrer vernetzten Struktur thermisch stabil und nicht fließfähig sind, also
keinen „kalten Fluss" zeigen. Die Herstellung isotroper poröser Siliconmembranen wäre ebenfalls vorteilhaft.
Es bestand daher die Aufgabe einen Prozess zu entwickeln, mit dem sich dünne poröse Siliconmembranen auf eine technisch sehr einfache Weise herstellen lassen, der allerdings die Nachteile der bisher bekannten Herstellungsprozesse und Membranen nicht mehr aufweist und der es ermöglicht Siliconkautschuke
einzusetzen, sowie einfach und wirtschaftlich durchzuführen ist.
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung dünner poröser Membranen aus vernetzbaren
Siliconzusammensetzungen (S) , bei dem
in einem ersten Schritt eine Emulsion aus den
Siliconzusammensetzungen (S) mit einem Porenbildner (P) in Gegenwart eines Emulgators (E) und gegebenenfalls Lösungsmittel (L) gebildet wird,
in einem zweiten Schritt die Emulsion in eine Form gebracht und das Lösungsmittel (L) gegebenenfalls abdampfen gelassen wird, in einem dritten Schritt die Emulsion vernetzt wird,
und in einem vierten Schritt der Porenbildner (P) aus der vernetzten Membran entfernt wird.
Der Prozess ist dabei deutlich einfacher und kostengünstiger als die entsprechenden literaturbekannten Prozesse.
Überraschender Weise wurde dabei gefunden, dass sich stabile Emulsionen aus vernetzbaren Siliconzusammensetzungen (S) , insbesondere Flüssigsiliconen und Porenbildner (P) ,
insbesondere polaren organischen Verbindungen in Gegenwart geeigneter Emulgatoren herstellen lassen, welche sich unter
Erhalt der phasenseparierten mikroskaligen Struktur zu dünnen porösen Silicon-Membranen vulkanisieren lassen.
Dies überrascht umso mehr, als dass sich normalerweise Silicone durch einfaches Emulgleren und Vulkanisieren nicht zu porösen Membranen verarbeiten lassen, da dabei gewöhnlich kompakte Folien entstehen, die keine Porosität aufweisen.
Besonders bevorzugt ist die Vernetzung der
Siliconzusammensetzungen (S) zu Silicon-Membranen über
kovalente Bindungen, wie sie z.B. durch Kondensations- reaktionen, Additionen oder radikalische Mechanismen entstehen. Ganz bevorzugt ist die Vernetzung flüssiger, d.h. mit
Viskositäten bis maximal 300 000 MPa, gelförmiger oder
hochviskoser, d.h. Viskositäten über 2 000 000 MPa, Silicone, wie sie z.B. von der Wacker Chemie AG unter der Marke
ELASTOSIL® vertrieben werden.
Ein derartiger Prozess zur Herstellung poröser Silicon- Membranen wurde bisher nicht beschrieben und war in dieser Art nicht zu erwarten.
Die porösen Silicon- Formkörper weisen dabei Dampfdurchlässigkeiten auf, die deutlich höher liegen als die kompakter
Siliconfolien des Stands der Technik. Weiterhin dringen
Flüssigkeiten, wie z.B. Wasser, durch die porösen Silicon- Membranen erst bei höherem Druck.
Als Siliconzusammensetzungen (S) werden bevorzugt
Flüssigsilicone (LSR) verwendet.
Ein bevorzugtes Flüssigsilicon (LSR) ist eine
additionsvernetzbare Siliconzusammensetzung (S) , enthaltend
(A) mindestens zwei Alkenylgruppen pro Molekül enthaltendes Polyorganosiloxan mit einer Viskosität bei 25°C von 0,2 bi
1000 Pa-s,
(B) SiH-funktionelles Vernetzungsmittel und
(C) Hydrosilylierungskatalysator .
Das Alkenylgruppen enthaltende Polyorganosiloxan (A) besitzt vorzugsweise eine Zusammensetzung der durchschnittlichen allgemeinen Formel (1)
RlxR2ySiO(4_x_y)/2 (1) , auf, in der
einen einwertigen, gegebenenfalls halogen- oder
cyanosubstituierten, gegebenenfalls über eine organische zweiwertige Gruppe an Silicium gebundenen C^- ^Q-
Kohlenwasserstoffrest , der aliphatische Kohlenstoff- Kohlenstoff Mehrfachbindungen enthält,
einen einwertigen, gegebenenfalls halogen- oder
cyanosubstituierten, über SiC- gebundenen C-^- ^Q-
Kohlenwasserstoffrest , der frei ist von aliphatischen Kohlenstoff -Kohlenstoff Mehrfachbindungen
x eine solche nichtnegative Zahl, dass mindestens zwei Reste
R in jedem Molekül vorhanden sind, und
y eine nicht negative Zahl, so dass (x+y) im Bereich von 1,8 bis 2,5 liegt, bedeuten.
Die Alkenylgruppen R1 sind einer Anlagerungsreaktion mit einem SiH-funktionellen Vernetzungsmittel (B) zugänglich.
Üblicherweise werden Alkenylgruppen mit 2 bis 6
Kohlenstoffatomen, wie Vinyl, Allyl, Methallyl, 1-Propenyl, 5- Hexenyl, Ethinyl, Butadienyl, Hexadienyl, Cyclopentenyl ,
Cyclopentadienyl , Cyclohexenyl , vorzugsweise Vinyl und Allyl, verwendet .
Organische zweiwertige Gruppen, über die die Alkenylgruppen R1 an Silicium der Polymerkette gebunden sein können, bestehen beispielsweise aus Oxyalkyleneinheiten, wie solche der
allgemeinen Formel (2)

m die Werte 0 oder 1, insbesondere 0,
n Werte von 1 bis 4, insbesondere 1 oder 2 und
o Werte von 1 bis 20, insbesondere von 1 bis 5 bedeuten.
Die Oxyalkyleneinheiten der allgemeinen Formel (2) sind links an ein Siliciumatom gebunden.
Die Reste R1 können in jeder Position der Polymerkette, insbesondere an den endständigen Siliciumatomen, gebunden sein.
Beispiele für unsubstituierte Reste R^ sind Alkylreste, wie der Methyl-, Ethyl-, n-Propyl-, iso-Propyl-, n-Butyl-, iso-Butyl-, tert . -Butyl- , n-Pentyl-, iso-Pentyl-, neo-Pentyl-, tert . - Pentylrest, Hexylreste, wie der n-Hexylrest, Heptylreste, wie der n-Heptylrest , Octylreste, wie der n-Octylrest und iso-
Octylreste, wie der 2 , 2 , 4 -Trimethylpentylrest , Nonylreste, wie der n-Nonylrest, Decylreste, wie der n-Decylrest ; Alkenylreste , wie der Vinyl-, Allyl-, η-5-Hexenyl- , -Vinylcyclohexyl- und der 3 -Norbornenylrest ; Cycloalkylreste , wie Cyclopentyl- ,
Cyclohexyl-, 4-Ethylcyclohexyl- , Cycloheptylreste ,
Norbornylreste und Methylcyclohexylreste ; Arylreste, wie der Phenyl-, Biphenylyl-, Naphthylrest ; Alkarylreste , wie o- , m-,
p-Tolylreste und Ethylphenylreste ; Aralkylreste , wie der
Benzylrest, der alpha- und der ß-Phenylethylrest .
Beispiele für substituierte Kohlenwasserstoffreste als Reste R2 sind halogenierte Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie der Chlormethyl-, 3- Chlorpropyl- , 3 -Brompropyl , 3 , 3 , 3 -Trifluorpropyl und
5 , 5 , 5 , 4 , , 3 , 3 -Heptafluorpentylrest sowie der Chlorphenyl- , Dichlorphenyl- und Trifluortolylrest . R2 weist vorzugsweise 1 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatome auf.
Insbesondere bevorzugt sind Methyl und Phenyl .
Bestandteil (A) kann auch eine Mischung verschiedener
Alkenylgruppen enthaltender Polyorganosiloxane sein, die sich beispielsweise im Alkenylgruppengehalt , der Art der
Alkenylgruppe oder strukturell unterscheiden.
Die Struktur der Alkenylgruppen enthaltenden Polyorganosiloxane (A) kann linear, cyclisch oder auch verzweigt sein. Der Gehalt an zu verzweigten Polyorganosiloxanen führenden tri- und/oder tetrafunktionellen Einheiten ist typischerweise sehr gering, vorzugsweise höchstens 20 Mol-%, insbesondere höchstens 0,1 Mol-% . Besonders bevorzugt ist die Verwendung Vinylgruppen
enthaltender Polydimethylsiloxane , deren Moleküle der
allgemeinen Formel (3)
(ViMe2Si01/2) 2 (ViMeSiO) p (Me2SiO) q (3) , entsprechen, wobei die nichtnegativen ganzen Zahlen p und q folgende Relationen erfüllen: p>0, 50< (p+q) <20000 , vorzugsweise 100< (p+q) <1000, und 0< (p+1) / (p+q) <0.2. Insbesondere ist p = 0.
Die Viskosität des Polyorganosiloxans (A) beträgt bei 25°C vorzugsweise 0,5 bis 500 Pa-s, insbesondere 1 bis 100 Pa-s, ganz besonders bevorzugt 1 bis 50 Pa-s.
Die mindestens zwei SiH-Funktionen pro Molekül enthaltende Organosiliciumverbindung (B) besitzt vorzugsweise eine
Zusammensetzung der durchschnittlichen allgemeinen Formel (4) HaR3 bSiO(4_a_b)/2 (4), in der
R3 einen einwertigen, gegebenenfalls halogen- oder
cyanosubstituierten, über SiC-gebundenen C]_-C]_8- Kohlenwasserstoffrest , der frei ist von aliphatischen
Kohlenstoff-Kohlenstoff Mehrfachbindungen und
a und b nichtnegative ganze Zahlen sind,
mit der Maßgabe, dass 0 , 5< (a+b) <3 , 0 und 0<a<2, und dass mindestens zwei siliciumgebundene Wasserstoffatome pro Molekül vorhanden sind.
Beispiele für R3 sind die für R2 angegebenen Reste. R3 weist vorzugsweise 1 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatome auf. Insbesondere bevorzugt sind Methyl und Phenyl .
Bevorzugt ist die Verwendung einer drei oder mehr SiH-Bindungen pro Molekül enthaltenden Organosiliciumverbindung (B) . Bei Verwendung einer nur zwei SiH-Bindungen pro Molekül
aufweisenden Organosiliciumverbindung (B) empfiehlt sich die Verwendung eines Polyorganosiloxans (A) , das über mindestens drei Alkenylgruppen pro Molekül verfügt.
Der Wasserstoffgehalt der Organosiliciumverbindung (B) , welcher sich ausschließlich auf die direkt an Siliciumatome gebundenen Wasserstoffatome bezieht, liegt vorzugsweise im Bereich von 0,002 bis 1,7 Gew.-% Wasserstoff, vorzugsweise von 0,1 bis 1,7 Gew.-% Wasserstoff.
Die Organosiliciumverbindung (B) enthält vorzugsweise
mindestens drei und höchstens 600 Siliciumatome pro Molekül. Bevorzugt ist die Verwendung von Organosiliciumverbindung (B) , die 4 bis 200 Siliciumatome pro Molekül enthält.
Die Struktur der Organosiliciumverbindung (B) kann linear, verzweigt, cyclisch oder netzwerkartig sein. Besonders bevorzugte Organosiliciumverbindungen (B) sind lineare Polyorganosiloxane der allgemeinen Formel (5)
(HR42SiOl 2 )c(R 3SiOi/2)d(H 4Si02/2)e(R 2Si02/2)f (5) , wobei
R4 die Bedeutungen von R3 hat und
die nichtnegativen ganzen Zahlen c , d, e und f folgende
Relationen erfüllen: ( c+d)=2, ( c+e)>2, 5< ( e+f) <200 und l<e/ ( e + f) <0, 1.
Die SiH-funktionelle Organosiliciumverbindung (B) ist
vorzugsweise in einer solchen Menge in der vernetzbaren
Siliconmasse enthalten, dass das Molverhältnis von SiH-Gruppen zu Alkenylgruppen bei 0,5 bis 5, insbesondere bei 1,0 bis 3,0 liegt.
Als Hydrosilylierungskatalysator (C) können alle bekannten Katalysatoren eingesetzt werden, welche die bei der Vernetzung
von additionsvernetzenden Siliconzusammensetzungen ablaufenden Hydrosilylierungsreaktionen katalysieren .
Als Hydrosilylierungskatalysatoren (C) werden insbesondere Metalle und deren Verbindungen aus der Gruppe Platin, Rhodium, Palladium, Ruthenium und Iridium eingesetzt.
Vorzugsweise werden Platin und Platinverbindungen verwendet. Besonders bevorzugt werden solche Platinverbindungen, die in Polyorganosiloxanen löslich sind. Als lösliche
Platinverbindungen können beispielsweise die Platin-OlefinKomp1exe der Formeln (PtCl2 · Olefin) 2 und H (PtCl3 · Olefin) verwendet werden, wobei bevorzugt Alkene mit 2 bis 8
Kohlenstoffatomen, wie Ethylen, Propylen, Isomere des Butens und Octens, oder Cycloalkene mit 5 bis 7 Kohlenstoffatomen, wie Cyclopenten, Cyclohexen und Cyclohepten, eingesetzt werden. Weitere lösliche Platin-Katalysatoren sind der Platin- Cyclopropan-Komplex der Formel (PtCl2C3Hg) 2 , die
Umsetzungsprodukte von Hexachloroplatinsäure mit Alkoholen, Ethern und Aldehyden bzw. Mischungen derselben oder das
Umsetzungsprodukt von Hexachloroplatinsäure mit
Methylvinylcyclotetrasiloxan in Gegenwart von Natriumbicarbonat in ethanolischer Lösung. Besonders bevorzugt sind Komplexe des Platins mit Vinylsiloxanen, wie sym- Divinyltetramethyldisiloxan .
Der Hydrosilylierungskatalysator (C) kann in jeder beliebigen Form eingesetzt werden, beispielsweise auch in Form von
Hydrosilylierungskatalysator enthaltenden Mikrokapseln, oder Polyorganosiloxanpartikeln.
Der Gehalt an Hydrosilylierungskatalysatoren (C) wird
vorzugsweise so gewählt, dass die additionsvernetzbare
Siliconzusammensetzung (S) einen Pt-Gehalt von 0,1 bis 200 Gew.-ppm, insbesondere von 0,5 bis 40 Gew. -ppm besitzt.
Die Siliconzusammensetzung (S) kann mindestens einen Füllstoff (D) enthalten. Nicht verstärkende Füllstoffe (D) mit einer BET- Oberfläche von bis zu 50 m2/g, sind beispielsweise Quarz, Diatomeenerde, Calciumsilikat , Zirkoniumsilikat, Zeolithe, Metalloxidpulver, wie Aluminium-, Titan-, Eisen-, oder
Zinkoxide bzw. deren Mischoxide, Bariumsulfat, Calciumcarbonat, Gips, Siliciumnitrid, Siliciumcarbid, Bornitrid, Glas- und
Kunststoff ulver . Verstärkende Füllstoffe, also Füllstoffe mit einer BET-Oberfläche von mindestens 50 m2/g, insbesondere 100 bis 400 m2/g sind beispielsweise pyrogen hergestellte
Kieselsäure, gefällte Kieselsäure, Aluminiumhydroxid, Ruß, wie Furnace- und Acetylenruß und Silicium-Aluminium-Mischoxide großer BET-Oberfläche .
Die genannten Füllstoffe (D) können hydrophobiert sein,
beispielsweise durch die Behandlung mit Organosilanen,
Organosilazanen bzw. -siloxanen oder durch Verätherung von Hydroxylgruppen zu Alkoxygruppen . Es kann eine Art von
Füllstoff (D) , es kann auch ein Gemisch von mindestens zwei Füllstoffen (D) eingesetzt werden.
Vorzugsweise enthalten die Siliconzusammensetzungen (S)
mindestens 3 Gew.- , besonders bevorzugt mindestens 5 Gew.-%, insbesondere mindestens 10 Gew.-% und höchstens 40 Gew.-%
Füllstoffanteil (D) .
Die Siliconzusammensetzungen (S) können wahlweise als weiteren Bestandteil (Z) mögliche Zusätze zu einem Anteil von 0 bis 70 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 0,0001 bis 40 Gew.-%, enthalten. Diese Zusätze können beispielsweise harzartige Polyorganosiloxane, die von den Polyorganosiloxanen (A) und (B) verschieden sind,
Haftvermittler, Pigmente, Farbstoffe, Weichmacher, organische Polymere, Hitzestabilisatoren und Inhibitoren sein. Hierzu zählen Zusätze, wie Farbstoffe und Pigmente. Des Weiteren können als Bestandteil thixotropierende Bestandteile, wie hochdisperse Kieselsäure oder andere handelsübliche
Thixotropieadditive enthalten sein. Auch können als weiterer Bestandteil (Z) zur besseren Vernetzung vorzugsweise maximal 0,5 Gew, besonders bevorzugt maximal 0,3 Gew.-%, insbesondere <0,1% Gew.-% Peroxid vorhanden sein.
Besonders bevorzugt sind niederviskose Siliconzusammensetzungen (S) wie z.B. Elastosil® LR 3003/30, Elastosil® RT 601 oder Elastosil® RT 625 von Wacker Chemie AG. Als geeignete Porenbildner (P) können alle mit Siliconen nicht mischbaren organischen niedermolekularen Verbindungen
eingesetzt werden.
Beispiele für Porenbildner (P) sind monomere, oligomere und polymere Glykole, Glycerin, Diethylformamid, Dimethylformamid, N-Methylpyrrolidon und Acetonitril .
Bevorzugt werden Glykole der allgemeinen Formel (6)
R5-0[ (CH2)gO]h-R5 (6), eingesetzt, in der
R5 Wasserstoff, Methyl, Ethyl oder Propyl,
g Werte von 1 bis 4, insbesondere 1 oder 2 und
h Werte von 1 bis 20, insbesondere von 1 bis 5 bedeuten.
Bevorzugte Beispiele für Glykole sind Ethylenglykol ,
Diethylenglykol, Triethylenglykol, Tetraethylenglykol,
Propylenglykol, Dipropylenglykol, Monomethyldiethylenglykol,
Dimethyldiethylenglykol , Trimethyldiethylenglykol
niedermolekulare Polyglykole wie Polyethylenglykol 200,
Polyethylenglykol 400, Polypropylenglykol 425 und
Polypropylenglykol 725.
Die Porenbildner (P) werden in Mengen von bevorzugt von 20 bis 2000 Gewichtsteilen, besonders bevorzugt von 30 bis 300
Gewichtsteilen, insbesondere von 50 bis 150 Gewichtsteilen jeweils bezogen auf 100 Gewichtsteile Siliconzusammensetzung (S) zugegeben.
Als geeignete Emulgatoren (E) können beispielsweise
Siliconoligomere, insbesondere Polydimethylsiloxane mit
Polyetheroxy- , wie Ethylenoxy- oder Propylenoxy- , Alkoxy- und Ammoniumgruppen, insbesondere durch Polyetherketten seiten- und/oder endständig modifizierte Siliconoligomere eingesetzt werden.
Weitere Beispiele für geeignete Emulgatoren (E) sind
Ethylenoxid/Propylenoxidcopolymere , Polyalkylenglycolether, Polysorbate, Sorbitan-Fettsäureester, kationische oder anionische Tenside.
Die Emulgatoren (E) werden in Mengen von bevorzugt bis zu 30 Gewichtsteilen, besonders bevorzugt von 0,5 bis 15
Gewichtsteilen, insbesondere von 1 bis 10 Gewichtsteilen jeweils bezogen auf 100 Gewichtsteile Siliconzusammensetzung (S) zugegeben.
Beispiele für Lösungsmittel (L) sind Ether, insbesondere aliphatische Ether, wie Dirnethylether, Diethylether, Methyl- t- butylether, Diisopropylether, Dioxan oder Tetrahydrofuran, Ester, insbesondere aliphatische Ester, wie Ethylacetat oder Butylacetat, Ketone, insbesondere aliphatische Ketone, wie
Aceton oder Methylethylketon, sterisch gehinderte Alkohole, insbesondere aliphatische Alkohole, wie i-Propanol, t-Butanol, Amide wie DMF, aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe wie Toluol oder Xylol, aliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffe wie Pentan, Cyclopentan, Hexan, Cyclohexan, Heptan, Chlorkohlenwasserstoffe wie
Methylenchlorid oder Chloroform.
Lösungsmittel oder Lösungsmittelgemische mit einem Siedepunkt bzw. Siedebereich von bis zu 120° C bei 0,1 MPa sind bevorzugt. Bevorzugt handelt es sich bei den Lösungsmitteln (L) um
aromatische oder aliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffe.
Falls Lösungsmittel (L) eingesetzt werden, handelt es sich um Mengen von bevorzugt 1 bis 300 Gewichtsteilen, besonders bevorzugt 10 bis 200 Gewichtsteilen, insbesondere 20 bis 100 Gewichtsteilen, jeweils bezogen auf 100 Gewichtsteile
Siliconzusammensetzung (S) .
Die Siliconzusammensetzungen (S) , Porenbildner (P) , Emulgator (E) und gegebenenfalls Lösungsmittel (L) werden im ersten
Schritt vorzugsweise unter starker Scherung, beispielsweise mit einem Turax® oder Speedmixer® oder einem Kneter zu einer feinen Emulsion verarbeitet.
Im zweiten Schritt wird die Emulsion vorzugsweise zu einer dünnen Membran aufgetragen z.B. durch Rakeln.
Vorzugsweise wird die Emulsion im zweiten Schritt bei
Temperaturen von mindestens 0°C, besonders bevorzugt mindestens 10°C, insbesondere mindestens 20°C und höchstens 60°C,
besonders bevorzugt höchstens 50 °C in eine Form gebracht.
Wird Lösungsmittel (L) verwendet, so ist es vorteilhaft, wenn dieses vor der Vulkanisation durch z.B. Abdampfen aus der
Emulsion entfernt wird.
Anschließend erfolgt im dritten Schritt die Vulkanisation der dünnen Emulsion. Der Porenbildner (P) kann im vierten Schritt auf alle dem
Fachmann geläufigen Methoden Arten aus der Membran entfernt werden. Beispiele sind Extrahieren, Verdampfen, ein sukzessiver Lösungsmittelaustausch oder einfaches Auswaschen des
Porenbildners (P) .
In einer Ausführungsform der Erfindung werden der Emulsion im ersten Schritt weitere Additive hinzugegeben. Typische Additive sind anorganische Salze und Polymere. Gängige anorganische Salze sind LiF, NaF, KF, LiCl, NaCl, KCl, MgCl2, CaCl2 , ZnCl2 und CdCl2.
Der Emulgator (E) kann nach der Herstellung in dem Formkörper verbleiben oder extrahiert bzw. mit anderen Lösungsmitteln ausgewaschen werden. Die zugegebenen Additive können nach der Herstellung in dem Formkörper verbleiben oder extrahiert bzw. mit anderen
Lösungsmitteln ausgewaschen werden.
Dabei können auch Gemische von unterschiedlichen Additiven in die Emulsionen mit eingearbeitet werden. Die Konzentration der Additive in der Polymerlösung beträgt vorzugsweise mindestens 0,01 Gew.-%, besonders bevorzugt mindestens 0,1 Gew.-%, insbesondere mindestens 1 Gew.-% °C und höchstens 15 Gew.-%, besonders bevorzugt höchstens 5 Gew.-%, bezogen auf 100
Gewichtsteile Siliconzusammensetzung (S) .
Die Emulsionen können zudem die in Formulierungen üblichen Additive und Zusätze enthalten. Zu nennen wären hier u.a.
Verlaufshilfsmittel, oberflächenaktive Substanzen,
Haftvermittler, Lichtschutzmittel wie UV-Absorber und/oder Radikalfänger, Farbstoffe, Pigmente, Thixotropiermittel sowie weitere Fest- und Füllstoffe. Zur Erzeugung der jeweils
gewünschten Eigenschaftsprofile der Membran sind derartige Zusätze bevorzugt.
In einer ebenfalls bevorzugten Ausführungsform der Erfindung enthalten die porösen Membranen noch einen Anteil an Partikeln. Eine Auflistung geeigneter Partikel findet sich in EP1940940.
In einer weiterhin bevorzugten Ausführungsform der Erfindung enthalten die porösen Membranen auch aktiv verstärkende
Partikel. Beispiele für verstärkende Partikel sind pyrogene oder gefällte Kieselsäure mit behandelten oder unbehandelten Oberflächen oder Siliconharzpartikel.
Die porösen Membranen weisen dabei, bezogen auf das
Gesamtgewicht, vorzugsweise einen Gehalt an Partikeln von 0 - 50 Gew.-%, besonders bevorzugt 5 - 30 Gew.-% und ganz besonders bevorzugt 10 - 25 Gew.-% auf.
Dabei können die porösen Membranen einen oder mehrere
verschiedene Partikeltypen enthalten, beispielsweise
Siliciumdioxid sowie Aluminophosphat .
Bevorzugte geometrische Ausführungsformen der herstellbaren dünnen porösen Membranen sind Folien, Schläuche, Fasern,
Hohlfasern, Matten, wobei die geometrische Form an keinerlei feste Formen gebunden ist, sondern weites gehend von den verwendeten Substraten abhängt.
Zur Herstellung der Membranen werden die Emulsionen im zweiten Schritt vorzugsweise auf ein Substrat aufgebracht. Die auf
Substrate aufgebrachten Emulsionen werden dabei bevorzugt zu Folien weiterverarbeitet.
Die Substrate enthalten vorzugsweise ein oder mehrere Stoffe aus der Gruppe umfassend Metalle, Metalloxide, Polymere oder Glas. Die Substrate sind dabei grundsätzlich an keine
geometrische Form gebunden. Bevorzugt ist dabei allerdings der Einsatz von Substraten in Form von Platten, Folien, textile Flächensubstrate, gewobenen oder nichtgewobenen Netzen.
Substrate auf Basis von Polymeren enthalten beispielsweise Polyamide, Polyimide, Polyetherimide , Polycarbonate ,
Polybenzimidazole, Polyethersulfone , Polyester, Polysulfone, Polytetrafluorethylene, Polyurethane, Polyvinylchloride,
Celluloseacetate, Polyvinylidenfluoride , Polyetherglykole , Polyethylenterephthalat (PET) , Polyaryletherketone,
Polyacrylnitril, Polymethylmethacrylate , Polyphenylenoxide, Polycarbonate, Polyethylene oder Polypropylene . Bevorzugt sind hierbei Polymere mit einer Glasübergangstemperatur Tg von mindestens 80°C. Substrate auf Basis von Glas enthalten
beispielsweise Quarzglas, Bleiglas, Floatglas oder Kalk-Natron- Glas .
Bevorzugte Netz- oder Vlies-Substrate enthalten Glas-, Carbon-, Aramid- , Polyester-, Polyethylene-, Polypropylene-,
Polyethylene/Polypropylene-Copolymer- , Polyamid- oder
Polyethylenterephthalat - Fasern .
Die Schichtdicke der Substrate beträgt vorzugsweise ^> 1 μιη, besonders bevorzugt > 50 m, ganz besonders bevorzugt > 100 μτ und vorzugsweise < 2 mm, besonders bevorzugt < 600 μτη, ganz besonders bevorzugt <^ 400 μπ. Am meisten bevorzugte Bereiche
für die Schichtdicke der Substrate sind die aus den vorgenannten Werten formulierbaren Bereiche.
Die Dicke der porösen Membranen wird vornehmlich durch die Menge an Emulsion bestimmt.
Alle technisch bekannten Formen des Auftrages der Emulsion auf Substrate können für die Herstellung der porösen Membranen eingesetzt werden.
Das Auftragen der der Emulsion auf das Substrat erfolgt dabei bevorzugt mittels eines Rakels, durch Meniskusbeschichtung, Gießen, Sprühen, Tauchen, Siebdruck, Tiefdruck,
Transferbeschichtung, Gravurbeschichtung oder Spin-on-Disk . Die so aufgetragenen Emulsionen haben Filmdicken von vorzugsweise _> 10 pm, besonders bevorzugt ^ 100 pm, insbesondere ;> 200 pm und vorzugsweise < 10.000 pm, besonders bevorzugt < 5.000 pm, insbesondere < 1000 pm. Am meisten bevorzugte Bereiche für die Filmdicken sind die aus den vorgenannten Werten formulierbaren Bereiche .
Im dritten Schritt werden die in Form gebrachten Emulsionen vernetzt .
Die Herstellung oder Compoundierung der
Siliconzusammensetzungen (S) erfolgt bevorzugt durch Mischen der Komponenten (A) und gegebenenfalls Füllstoff (D) und weiteren Bestandteil (Z) . Die Vernetzung nach Zugabe von
Vernetzer (B) und Hydrosilylierungskatalysator (C) erfolgt vorzugsweise durch Bestrahlen mit Licht oder Erwärmen,
vorzugsweise bei 30 bis 250°C, bevorzugt bei mindestens 50°C, insbesondere bei mindestens 100°C, bevorzugt bei 150-210°C.
In einer ebenfalls bevorzugten Ausführungsform der Erfindung wird in dem vierten Schritt der Porenbildner (P) durch
Extraktion entfernt.
Die Extraktion erfolgt dabei vorzugsweise mit einem
Lösungsmittel, welche die sich ausgebildete poröse Struktur nicht zerstört, aber gut mischbar mit dem Porenbildner (P) ist. Besonders bevorzugt ist die Verwendung von Wasser als
Extraktionsmittel. Die Extraktion findet bevorzugt bei
Temperaturen zwischen 20 °C und 100 °C statt. Die bevorzugte Dauer der Extraktion kann für das jeweilige System in wenigen Versuchen ermittelt werden. Bevorzugt beträgt die Dauer der Extraktion mindestens 1 Sekunde bis mehrere Stunden. Dabei kann der Vorgang auch mehrmals wiederholt werden. Bevorzugt ist die Produktion von Membranen mit einer
gleichmäßigen Porenverteilung entlang des Querschnittes.
Besonders bevorzugt ist die Herstellung mikroporöser Membranen mit Porengrößen von 0,1 μιη bis 20 μτη. Die Membranen besitzen bevorzugt eine isotrope Porenverteilung.
Die nach dem Prozess hergestellten Membranen weisen im
Allgemeinen eine poröse Struktur auf. Das freie Volumen beträgt vorzugsweise mindestens 5 Vol.-%, besonders bevorzugt
mindestens 20 Vol.-%, insbesondere mindestens 35 Vol.-% und höchstens 90 Vol.-%, besonders bevorzugt höchstens 80 Vol.-%, insbesondere höchstens 75 Vol.-%.
Die so erhaltenen Membranen können z.B. zur Trennung von
Gemischen eingesetzt werden. Alternativ können die Membranen vom Substrat abgenommen werden und dann direkt ohne weiteren Träger verwendet werden oder gegebenenfalls auf andere
Substrate, wie Vliese, Gewebe oder Folien aufgebracht werden,
vorzugsweise bei erhöhten Temperaturen und unter Anwendung von Druck, beispielsweise in einer Heißpresse oder in einem
Laminiergerät . Um die Haftung auf den anderen Substraten zu verbessern, können Haftvermittler oder Klebstoffe eingesetzt werden.
In einer weiterhin bevorzugten Ausführungsform der Erfindung werden die porösen Membranen durch Extrusion zu freitragenden Folien oder auf Substrate hergestellt.
Die fertig gestellten Membranen weisen Schichtdicken von vorzugsweise mindestens 1 μτη, besonders bevorzugt mindestens 10 μτη, insbesondere mindestens 15 μτη und vorzugsweise höchstens 10000 μτη, besonders bevorzugt höchstens 2000 μτη, insbesondere höchstens 1000 μπι, ganz besonders bevorzugt höchstens 500 μη\ auf .
Die so erhaltenen Membranen können direkt als Membran,
vorzugsweise zur Trennung von Gemischen eingesetzt werden.
Weiterhin können die porösen Membranen auch in Wundpflaster eingesetzt werden. Ebenfalls bevorzugt ist der Einsatz der porösen Membranen in Verpackungsmaterialien insbesondere bei der Verpackung von Lebensmitteln, die nach der Herstellung noch weitere Reifeprozesse durchlaufen.
Die Membranen eignen sich zum Einsatz für alle gängigen
Verfahren zur Trennung von Gemischen, wie Reverse Osmose, Gastrennung, Pervaporation, Nanofiltration, Ultrafiltration oder Mikrofiltration . Mit den Formkörpern können fest-fest, gasförmig-gasförmig, fest-gasförmig oder flüssig-gasförmig, insbesondere flüssig- flüssig und flüssig- fest Gemische getrennt werden .
Die erfindungsgetnäßen Membranen lassen sich bevorzugt ebenfalls als wasserabweisende und atmungsaktive Schicht in Textilien, beispielsweise in Bekleidungsstücken, wie z.B. in Jacken, Handschuhen, Mützen oder Schuhen, oder als Dachbahnen
verwenden .
Alle vorstehenden Symbole der vorstehenden Formeln weisen ihre Bedeutungen jeweils unabhängig voneinander auf. In allen
Formeln ist das Siliciumatom vierwertig.
In den folgenden Beispielen sind, falls jeweils nicht anders angegeben, alle Mengen- und Prozentangaben auf das Gewicht bezogen, alle Drücke 101,3 kPa (abs.) und alle Temperaturen 20°C.
Emulgator: Dimethylsiloxane-ethlyenoxid-Graftcopolymer mit 50 % Silionanteil ; käuflich erhältlich unter der Bezeichnung DBE-721 bei Gelest Inc. (USA) . LSR Shore 30s Flüssigsiliconkautschuk des Typs Elastosil® LR 3003/30 mit einer Shorehärte von 30; käuflich erhältlich bei Wacker Chemie AG (Deutschland) .
LSR Shore 50: Flüssigsiliconkautschuk des Typs Elastosil® LR 3003/50 mit einer Shorehärte von 50; käuflich erhältlich bei Wacker Chemie AG (Deutschland) .
Beispiel 1 : Herstellung einer Flüssigsiliconkautschuk-Emulsion mit zusätzlichem Lösungsmittel
In einem PE-Becher werden 10,0g Cyclohexan, 4,0g Emulgator,
20,0g Dipropylenglykol und jeweils 5g der A- und B-Komponente des LSR Shore 30 bei Raumtemperatur eingewogen und anschließend in einem Mischsystem (SpeedMixer® der Firma FlackTac Inc.)
unter Einwirkung hoher Scherkräfte zu einer feinteiligen
Emulsion verarbeitet.
Beispiel 2 : Herstellung einer Flüssigsiliconkautsch.uk-Emulsion mit zusätzlichem Lösungsmittel
In einem PE-Becher werden 8,0g Toluol, 5,4g Emulgator, 21,6g Dipropylenglykol und jeweils 5g der A- und B- omponente des LSR Shore 30 bei Raumtemperatur eingewogen und anschließend in einem Mischsystem (SpeedMixer® der Firma FlackTac Inc.) unter Einwirkung hoher Scherkräfte zu einer feinteiligen Emulsion verarbeitet .
Beispiel 3: Herstellung einer Flüssigsiliconkautschuk-Emulsion
In einem PE-Becher werden 1,0g Emulgator, 13,0g
Dipropylenglykol und jeweils 5g der A- und B-Komponente des LSR Shore 30 bei Raumtemperatur eingewogen und anschließend in einem Mischsystem (SpeedMixer® der Firma FlackTac Inc.) unter Einwirkung hoher Scherkräfte zu einer feinteiligen Emulsion verarbeitet
Beispiel 4: Herstellung einer Flüssigsiliconkautschuk-Emulsion
In einem PE-Becher werden 1,0g Emulgator, 13,0g
Dipropylenglykol und jeweils 5g der A- und B-Komponente des LSR Shore 50 bei Raumtemperatur eingewogen und anschließend in einem Mischsystem (SpeedMixer® der Firma FlackTac Inc.) unter Einwirkung hoher Scherkräfte zu einer feinteiligen Emulsion verarbeitet
Beispiel 4: Herstellung von porösen Siliconkautschukmembran auf PTFE
Für die Herstellung einer Siliconkautschukmembran wird ein Rakelziehgerätes (Coatmaster® 509 MC-I der Firma Erichson) eingesetzt
Als Filmziehrahmen wird eine Kammerrakel mit einer Filmbreite von 11 cm und einer Spalthöhe von 400 pm verwendet.
Die, als Substrat eingesetzte PTFE-Platte wird mit Hilfe einer Vakuumsaugplatte fixiert. Die PTFE-Platte wird vor dem
Rakelauftrag mit einem in Ethanol getränktem Reinraumtuch abgewischt. Auf diese Weise werden eventuell vorhandene
Partikelverunreinigungen entfernt .
Im Anschluss daran wird der Filmziehrahmen jeweils mit den in Beispiel 1 und 2 hergestellten Emulsionen befüllt und mit einer konstanten Filmziehgeschwindigkeit von 8 mm/s über die PTFE- Platte gezogen.
Danach wird jeweils die noch flüssige, filmförmige Emulsion auf der PTFE-Platte zunächst für 24 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur gelagert, um das Lösungsmittel abdampfen zu lassen und
anschließend wird die so erhaltene lösungsmittelfreie Emulsion bei 140°C für 5 min im Trockenschrank vulkanisiert.
Anschließend werden die jeweiligen ausgehärteten Membranen, welche noch Diethylenglykol enthalten von der PTFE-Platte entfernt und für ca. 24 Stunden in Wasser eingelegt, um das Diethylenglykol zu entfernen. Im Anschluss daran werden die jeweiligen Membranen für weitere 24 Stunden an Luft getrocknet.
Auf diese Weise werden etwa 200 μπι dicke, undurchsichtige
Membranen erhalten, welche im Rasterelektronenmikroskop eine homogene und gleichmäßige Porenverteilung zeigen.
Beispiel 5: Herstellung von porösen Siliconkautschukmembran Polyamidgewebe
Für die Herstellung einer Siliconkautschukmembran wird ein Rakelziehgerätes (Coatmaster® 509 MC-I der Firma Erichson) eingesetzt
Als Filmziehrahmen wird eine Kammerrakel mit einer Filmbreite von 11 cm und einer Spalthöhe von 200 μτη verwendet.
Das, als Substrat eingesetzte Polyamidgewebe wird mit Hilfe einer Vakuumsaugplatte fixiert und im Anschluss daran wird der Filmziehrahmen jeweils mit den in Beispiel 3 und 4
hergestellten Emulsionen befüllt. Die entsprechenden Emulsionen werden dann mit einer konstanten Filmziehgeschwindigkeit von 8 mm/s über das Polyamidgewebe gezogen.
Danach werden die entsprechenden Polyamidgewebe mit den noch flüssigen, filmförmigen Emulsionen bei 140°C für 5 min im
Trockenschrank vulkanisiert.
Anschließend werden die jeweiligen ausgehärteten
Siliconkautschukmembranen, welche noch Diethylenglykol
enthalten für ca. 24 Stunden in Wasser eingelegt, um das
Diethylenglykol zu entfernen. Im Anschluss daran werden die jeweiligen Membranen für weitere 24 Stunden an Luft getrocknet.
Auf diese Weise werden etwa 200 m dicke, undurchsichtige
Membranen auf einem Polyamidgewebe erhalten, welche im
Rasterelektronenmikroskop eine homogene und gleichmäßige
Porenverteilung zeigen.
Claims
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung dünner poröser Membranen aus
vernetzbaren Siliconzusammensetzungen (S) , bei dem
in einem ersten Schritt eine Emulsion aus den
Siliconzusammensetzungen (S) mit einem Porenbildner (P) in Gegenwart eines Emulgators (E) und gegebenenfalls
Lösungsmittel (L) gebildet wird,
in einem zweiten Schritt die Emulsion in eine Form gebracht und das Lösungsmittel (L) gegebenenfalls abdampfen gelassen wird,
in einem dritten Schritt die Emulsion vernetzt wird, und in einem vierten Schritt der Porenbildner (P) aus der vernetzten Membran entfernt wird.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, bei dem eine
additionsvernetzbare Siliconzusammensetzung (S) eingesetzt wird, enthaltend
(A) mindestens zwei Alkenylgruppen pro Molekül enthaltendes Polyorganosiloxan mit einer Viskosität bei 25 °C von 0,2 bis
1000 Pa-s,
(B) SiH-funktionelles Vernetzungsmittel und
(C) Hydrosilylierungskatalysator .
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, bei dem das Alkenylgruppen
enthaltende Polyorganosiloxan (A) eine Zusammensetzung der durchschnittlichen allgemeinen Formel (1)
RlxR2ySiO(4_x_y)/2 (1) , aufweist, in der
Rl einen einwertigen, gegebenenfalls halogen- oder
cyanosubstituierten, gegebenenfalls über eine organische
zweiwertige Gruppe an Silicium gebundenen C]_-C]_o~
Kohlenwasserstoffrest , der aliphatische Kohlenstoff - Kohlenstoff Mehrfachbindungen enthält,
R2 einen einwertigen, gegebenenfalls halogen- oder
cyanosubstituierten, über SiC-gebundenen C^-C^Q-
Kohlenwasserstoffrest , der frei ist von aliphatischen Kohlenstoff-Kohlenstoff Mehrfachbindungen
x eine solche nichtnegative Zahl, dass mindestens zwei Reste
R1 in jedem Molekül vorhanden sind, und
y eine nicht negative Zahl, so dass (x+y) im Bereich von 1,8 bis 2,5 liegt, bedeuten.
4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2 oder 3, bei dem die
Organosiliciumverbindung (B) eine Zusammensetzung der durchschnittlichen allgemeinen Formel (4)
HaR3bSiO(4_a_b) 2 (4), aufweist, in der
R3 einen einwertigen, gegebenenfalls halogen- oder
cyanosubstituierten, über SiC-gebundenen C^- IQ-
Kohlenwasserstoffrest , der frei ist von aliphatischen Kohlenstoff -Kohlenstoff Mehrfachbindungen und
a und b nichtnegative ganze Zahlen sind,
mit der Maßgabe, dass 0 , 5< ( a+b) <3 , 0 und 0<a<2, und dass mindestens zwei siliciumgebundene Wasserstoffatome pro Molekül vorhanden sind.
5. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2 bis 4, bei dem der
Hydrosilylierungskatalysator (C) ausgewählt wird aus
Metallen und deren Verbindungen aus der Gruppe Platin, Rhodium, Palladium, Ruthenium und Iridium.
6. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2 bis 5, bei dem die
Siliconzusammensetzung (S) mindestens einen Füllstoff (D) enthält .
7. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 bis 6, bei dem der Porenbildner (P) ausgewählt wird aus monomeren, oligomeren und polymeren Glykolen, Glycerin, Diethylformamid, Dimethylformamid, N- Methylpyrrolidon und Acetonitril.
8. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 bis 7, bei dem 20 bis 2000
Gewichtsteile Porenbildner (P) , bezogen auf 100
Gewichtsteile Siliconzusammensetzung (S) zugegeben wird.
9. Membranen, herstellbar nach dem Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 bis 8.
10. Verwendung der Membranen nach Anspruch 9 zur Trennung von Gemischen, in Wundpflastern, als wasserabweisende und atmungsaktive Schicht in Textilien oder als
Verpackungsmaterialien .
