Claims (9)

  1. Locking assembly (10) for a safety belt of a motor vehicle, comprising firstly a catch (12) which is integral with an end (14) of said belt, and can be received in a buckle (16) which is integral with an element with the structure of a case, which projects substantially at the level of a seating part of a seat of the vehicle, said buckle (16) comprising an opening (18) for introduction of the catch and an inner mechanism (20) for locking of said catch (12), which is arranged in a low inner part (22) of the buckle (16), the opening (18) for introduction of the buckle (16) being fitted so as to be mobile between a high position for introduction of the catch (12), permitting facilitated access to the opening (18), and a low, locking position, in which it accompanies the catch (12) as far as the locking mechanism (20), in order to immobilize the catch (12), the buckle (16) comprising:
    - a framework (24), which is integral with the element with the structure of a case, and bears the inner locking mechanism (20);
    - a docking unit (32), which comprises the opening (18), and is mounted so as to slide between a high position and a low position, relative to the framework (24);
    characterized in the buckle also comprises:
    - means (34) for resilient return of the docking unit to the high position, and means (36) for braking towards the high position, which are interposed between the framework (24) and the docking unit (32).
  2. Locking assembly (10) according to the preceding claim, characterized in that the docking unit (32) is fitted so as to slide relative to the framework (24) by means of at least one telescopic column (38), end segments (40, 42) of which form part respectively of the framework (24) and the docking unit (32).
  3. Locking assembly (10) according to either of the preceding claims, characterized in that the resilient return means (34) comprise at least one helical compression spring (44), which is interposed between the docking unit (32) and the framework (24).
  4. Locking assembly (10) according to the preceding claim, characterized in that the braking means (36) comprise at least one resilient traction ring (46) made of elastomeric material which is secured to the docking unit (32) and the framework (24), and the rigidity of which is lower than the rigidity of the helical compression spring (44).
  5. Locking assembly (10) according to the preceding claim, characterized in that the docking unit (32) consists of the assembly of two shells (48, 60):
    - a first shell (48) which is open vertically, comprising an upper wall (50) in which there are formed the opening (18) and an aperture (52) which can permit manipulation of a button (54) for unlocking of the inner locking mechanism (20), comprising a vertical central inner column (56) which extends from the upper transverse wall (50) and forms an inner guide for the helical compression spring (44), and which comprises, on both sides of a plane of symmetry (A) of said first shell (48), two first horizontal intermediate pins (58) for coupling of two resilient traction rings (46), and two transversely opposite vertical inner columns (42) which extend from the upper transverse wall, and form first end segments (42) of two opposite telescopic columns (38); and
    - a second shell consisting of a cover (60) which closes the first shell (48).
  6. Locking assembly (10) according to the preceding claim, characterized in that the framework (24) is mechanically welded and in that it comprises at least one plate (26) which comprises a central part (28) which:
    - is secured, in particular by being riveted, on a lug (30) which is secured on the element with the structure of a case, in particular by being screwed;
    - supports a tubular sleeve (62) integral with an outer guide for the helical compression spring (44); and
    - comprises on both sides of a median plane of symmetry (A):
    • two second horizontal intermediate pins (72) for coupling of the two resilient traction rings (46);
    • two opposite end tubes (40) which form second end segments (40) of the two opposite telescopic columns (38).
  7. Locking assembly (10) according to the preceding claim, characterized in that the helical compression spring (44) is supported between the upper transverse wall (50) of the first shell and an inner shoulder surface (74) formed in the tubular sleeve (62).
  8. Locking assembly (10) according to either of Claims 6 and 7, characterized in that each telescopic column (38) comprises a tubular intermediate segment (76) which receives a vertical inner column (42) of the docking unit (32) which forms the first end segment of said column (38), and is received in the end tube (40) of the framework (24) which forms the second end segment of said column (38), the course of the inner column (42) being limited by a fixed nut (78) on the end of the inner column (42), which can abut an inner shoulder surface (80) of the tubular intermediate segment (67), and the course of the tubular intermediate segment (76) being limited by an outer shoulder surface (82) of the tubular intermediate segment, which can abut an inner shoulder surface (84) of the second end segment (40).
  9. Locking assembly according to one of Claims 5 to 8, characterized in that the aperture (52) in the first shell (46) is closed by a flexible membrane (86) which permits manipulation of the unlocking button (54) of the inner locking mechanism through said membrane (86) when the docking unit (32) is occupying its low position.
