Definitions

  • the invention relates to a system of several different types of similar cartridges and several different types of similar, connectable with these mixers.
  • the cartridges are preferably formed as double cartridges with two interconnected containers, each having an outlet or an outlet.
  • the containers can be arranged one behind the other, side by side (eg parallel) or in one another (tube-in-tube).
  • the mixers are each provided with two inlet openings or nozzles which can be coupled to the outlet openings or nozzles of the cartridges.
  • the system comprises at least two types of cartridges, which differ in that the ratio of the volumes of their containers is different.
  • Cartridges of the same type are understood to mean cartridges which, regardless of the volume ratios of their containers, have an identical total volume. Often similar cartridges are actuated with the same dispenser. In the dental field, for example, it is customary to empty so-called large cartridges with a total filling quantity of both containers together of 380 ml by means of a motor-driven discharge device. In such large cartridges exist different types, for example. Directly filled cartridges and filled with tubular bags cartridges, or cartridges, where the volume or cross-sectional ratios of the containers are different. However, all of these large cartridges are considered similar if they have the same total volume.
  • Dynamic mixers which are often used with large cartridges, are considered to be similar mixers, although the cross-sections of the mixing tubes may vary or, in some dynamic mixers, a jam or reservoir chamber is provided and not in others.
  • Static mixers which are commonly used with the smaller 50 ml cartridges, are also considered to be similar mixers, regardless of differences in the length or cross section of the respective mixing tube or regardless of the presence of a reservoir or reservoir chamber in the inlet area of the mixer or independent of the number of mixing elements.
  • a double cartridge with two containers with a 1: 1 different ratio of the volumes of their containers and a matching dynamic mixer are known from EP 1 943 012 B1.

  • the diameters of the inlet and outlet are according to the Volume ratio of the containers of different sizes.
  • a coding nose is provided on the mixer, which engages in a corresponding recess of the cartridge when the mixer is placed in its relative to the double cartridge correct orientation, ie such that the larger inlet port of the mixer and the larger outlet port of the cartridge and the smaller inlet port of the mixer and the smaller outlet port of the cartridge can interlock.
  • a cartridge with an associated mixer is known from EP 0 600 138 B1, wherein at least one strip is provided on the mixer, which can be brought into a corresponding groove on the neck of the cartridge connection in engagement.
  • the mixer may receive an incision that serves to receive a cam on the cartridge port.
  • the storage cylinders of the cartridge known from EP 0 600 138 B1 can each have either the same or different volumes or cross sections / geometries.
  • each cartridge with a different volume ratio of the containers it is usually common for each cartridge with a different volume ratio of the containers to be individually associated with a mixer which matches the cross-sections of the inlet and outlet openings to the cartridge.
  • a mixer it is also possible to set up a mixer on two different cartridges of different volume ratios, the correct assignment of the suitable for a cartridge mixer is often done by a color marking on the cartridge and the mixer. For example, for a 50 ml 1: 1 cartridge there are several mixers with different lengths, diameters and mixing elements, whose coding nose is identical, sitting in the same position and having identical cross sections of the inlet channels and thus all fitting to one cartridge.
  • Object of the present invention is in contrast to provide a system of several different cartridges and mixers, which can be produced with reduced manufacturing costs and at the same time allows a defined assignment of a matching to a cartridge mixer.
  • the invention is based on the idea that the size of the inlet openings or nozzles in each mixer type and the size of the outlet openings or nozzles is the same for each cartridge type.
  • the identical design of the inlet openings or nozzles and the outlet openings or nozzles, the interface between the cartridge and mixer can be made largely identical, whereby only minimal modifications to the manufacturing tools are required.
  • each type of mixer is equipped with a guide projection extending from the other types of mixers in cross-section different axial direction of the mixer, and that each cartridge type with one of the other types equipped by cartridges in cross-section different opening for receiving a guide projection of a mixer.
  • the inventively provided guide projection of the mixer with the correspondingly shaped opening of the cartridge fulfills in addition to the function of the known for example from EP 0 600 138 B1 or EP 1 943 012 B1 coding for alignment of the mixer relative to the cartridge additionally the function that only Certain types of mixers are connectable to certain types of cartridges, although the inlet ports or ports of the mixers and the outlet ports or ports of the cartridges per se permit communication of any type of mixer with each type of cartridge.
  • the cross-sectional ratios of the containers of, for example, the smaller 50 ml cartridges can be used. 1: 1, 1: 2, 1: 4, 1: 10, all with an identical to the cross section of the respective guide projections interface are designed.
  • the guide projection is provided on the mixer, while the cartridge is provided with a correspondingly shaped opening for receiving the guide projection.
  • a guide projection may be formed on the cartridge, which engages in a correspondingly shaped opening of the mixer.
  • the inlet openings or nozzles and outlet openings or nozzles are not considered according to the invention as a guide projection or opening. Rather, the guide projection is an additional feature provided on the mixer or the cartridge.

  • it is also according to the invention it is possible to design the mixers and cartridges so as to preclude the use of a mixer on a different cartridge type or cartridge with a different type of mixer. It is thus also possible to assign exactly one mixer to exactly one cartridge.
  • the inventive design of the inlet openings or nozzles and the outlet openings or nozzles with identical design for all types of mixers and for all types of cartridges entails that the cross sections of the inlet openings or nozzles and the outlet openings or nozzles to the maximum in the system expected volume passage are adjusted.
  • this can be regarded as disadvantageous since the flow resistance of the components thereby deviates greatly from one another.
  • This can be, for example, an insert or an element formed integrally with the cartridge, which reduces the cross-section of the outlet opening or the outlet nozzle and / or acts as a throttle point.
  • This lumen-reduced element is preferably arranged such that it is provided outside the actual contact area between mixer and cartridge, so that the placement of the mixer on the cartridge is not impaired thereby.
  • the guide projections of the mixers and / or the openings of the cartridges may be in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention in cross-section annular segment or polygonal. Alternatively or additionally, the guide projections may be of different types of mixers and / or the openings of different types of cartridges differently shaped and / or differently positioned projections and / or in cross-section Have recesses. Notwithstanding the aforementioned examples, other embodiments of the cross sections of the guide projections or the openings are possible, provided that an assignment of a specific mixer to a particular cartridge is thereby made possible.

  • the sleeve can be twisted slightly with the knurling, wherein the web 29 twists, since the plug 27 initially stuck in the outlet 5 and 6 respectively.
  • This distortion of the web 27 acting as a torsion element makes it possible for the latching hooks 27 to be disengaged from the thread segments of the internal thread 9 so that the closure element can be removed from the cartridge.

  • FIGS. 9 to 11 a dispensing piston with a closure is shown, which can be used in a cartridge system according to the invention for dispensing the components from the containers.
  • the piston is in this case provided with a vent, which allows air to escape from the respective container when it is filled with the component and the delivery piston is used. Since some substances tend to react with the remaining after filling the cartridge and the insertion of the piston in the cartridge residual air, it is anxious to let the residual air escape as completely as possible from the container. Any remaining in the container residual air between the piston and the substance located in the cartridge is also considered to be disadvantageous because the residual air forms a compressible pad that complicates the accuracy of the dosage when applying the substance from the cartridge.

  • Both the projection 104 and the groove 105 are each provided with openings that can be brought into coverage to release a vent channel, or can be brought out of coverage to close the vent channel.
  • the opening extends through the groove 105 perpendicular thereto, which may be formed slightly deeper than the opening, so that the projection 104 can securely close the openings.
  • FIG. 12 is a sectional view of a mixer and a cartridge of the system of the present invention, illustrating the case where a user attempts to place the mixer incorrectly (tilted) on the cartridge.
  • An important feature of the system according to the invention is the avoidance of unwanted carry-over of the catalyst component and base component and to the respective other paste component and could lead to their contamination. This could be due to accidental, unwanted insertion of the guide projection first in one, then in the other channel or by touching the inlet and outlet channels of the cartridge and mixer in unfavorable tilted placement in the wrong position, or analogous to the tilted replacement of a sealing plug.
  • the guide projection on the mixer (or on a closure plug) is designed so that it can not be inserted into the outlet channels.
  • the partition wall 31 is dimensioned so that it allows only small tilt angle between the outlet channels of the cartridge. If necessary, contours can be attached to the outlet channels of the cartridge, which further limit the play for the inserted partition wall 31 with regard to unfavorable tilt angles.
  • a closure plug may have an additional sleeve-shaped collar (at the point where the thread is located at the mixer) and thus also avoids unfavorable tilt angles.
