Die Steuerung findet durch die Steuereinheit 340 so statt, dass der Vakuumzylinder 302 bezüglich seiner Standardposition bei Verwendung eines Etiketts mit Standardlänge, wie in der Abbildung dargestellt, entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn, also in Laufrichtung, verschoben wird. Die gestrichelten Erhebungen 395' stellen dabei die ursprüngliche Anordnung dar. Das bedeutet, dass bei Übergabe eines kürzeren Etiketts 380 durch die Gegenschneidwalze 302 der Kontaktpunkt mit der ersten Erhebungen 395 nun so erfolgt, dass die Auflagefläche des Etiketts 380 dort geringer ist als bei Verwendung eines Standardetiketts. Aufgrund der verringerten Länge des Etiketts 380 in Kombination mit der Verschiebung der hinteren Erhebungen 395 gegenüber der Ausgangsposition 395' kann der Überlapp des Etiketts 380 mit der hinteren Erhebungen 395 von der Steuereinheit 340 so eingestellt werden, dass die Auflagefläche genau der Fläche auf der ersten Erhebung 395 entspricht, sie also auch kleiner ist, als die Auflagefläche eines Etiketts mit Standardlänge.The control takes place by the

Die so durchgeführte Steuerung des Vakuumzylinders 302 kann, wie erwähnt, auch auf eine Steuerung der Gegenschneidwalze 301 und dann gegebenenfalls der Trennelemente, angewandt werden. So ist es nicht notwendig, dass ausschließlich der Vakuumzylinder 302 verstellt wird, sondern es kann in Kombination damit auch die Gegenschneidwalze 301 verstellt werden. Ebenso kann, da die Motoren 310 und 320 völlig unabhängig voneinander gesteuert werden können, auch der Vakuumzylinder 302 unverstellt bleiben, wohingegen die relative Position der Gegenschneidwalze 301 in Bezug auf den Vakuumzylinder 302 von der Steuereinheit 340 verändert wird. Auch beliebige Abstufungen der Steuerung der Gegenschneidwalze 301 und des Vakuumzylinders 302 sind denkbar. Ebenso kann die Steuerung der Positionierung dieser Bestandteile der Vorrichtung zueinander durch die Steuereinheit 340 bei geeigneter Verwendung von Sensoren jederzeit unmittelbar auf die Länge jedes einzelnen Etiketts abgestimmt werden. Dazu könnte ein Sensor vor dem Trennelement angebracht sein, der bei jedem Etikett eine Längenmessung vornimmt, beispielsweise durch an den Etiketten angebrachte Markierungen. Das Signal kann an die Steuereinheit 340 übertragen werden, welche wiederum die Gegenschneidwalze 301 und den Vakuumzylinder 302 steuert und somit für jedes Etikett eine passgenaue Übergabe gewährleisten kann. Dabei kann die Steuerung durch die Steuereinheit 140 insbesondere zur Feinjustage verwendet werden. Das erlangt vor allem Bedeutung, wenn Etiketten unterschiedlicher Hersteller oder unterschiedlicher Produktionschargen verwendet werden, die sich zum Teil nur geringfügig in ihrer Länge unterscheiden. - A labeling unit (100) for applying labels of.different length to containers, particularly bottles, which comprises a separating element (103), a counter cutting roller (101), a vacuum cylinder (102) and supply devices (104) for uncut labels, as well as means (105) for applying the cut labels to containers, wherein
a first motor (110) is provided for driving the counter cutting roller (101),
a second motor (120) is provided for driving the vacuum cylinder (102),
a control unit (140) is provided that can control the motors independently of each other for instance according to the label length,
characterized in that
the vacuum cylinder (102) comprises elevations (295) distributed on its circumference,
and that the motors are controlled by the control unit (140) such that an overlap of a label delivered to the vacuum cylinder (102) is on a front elevation equal to the overlap on a rear elevation. - The labeling unit according to claim 1, characterized in that the motors are servomotors.
- The labeling unit according to any one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that a third motor (130) is provided for the separating element (103).
- The labeling unit according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the control unit (140) has an interface with which the label length can be predetermined.
- The labeling unit according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that sensors are provided that can determine and transmit the label length to the control unit (140).
- A method for applying labels of different length to containers, particularly bottles, with the help of a separating element (103), a counter cutting roller (101), a vacuum cylinder (102) which comprises elevations (295) distributed on its circumference, and supply devices (104) for uncut labels, as well as means (105) for applying the cut labels to containers, wherein the counter cutting roller (101) and the vacuum cylinder (102) are driven by a respective motor,
the motors are controlled by a control unit (140) independently of each other for instance in response to the label length,
and wherein the motors are controlled by the control unit (140) such that an overlap of a label delivered to the vacuum cylinder (102) is on a front elevation (295) equal to the overlap on a rear elevation (295). - The method according to claim 6, characterized in that the separating element (103) is driven by a third motor (130).
- The method according to any one of claims 6 or 7, characterized in that the label length is predetermined via an interface of the control unit (140).
- The method according to any one of claims 6 or 7, characterized in that the label length of the control unit (140) is automatically transmitted by sensors.
