Claims (9)

  1. Milling device having a body (1) which can be fitted onto a construction or public works machine, the device having a milling assembly comprising a slicing chain (3) and two lateral milling heads (2), the said milling assembly being driven by a hydraulic motor (4) mounted in a protective housing, characterized in combination in that the working width of the milling assembly (2, 3) substantially corresponds to the transverse dimension of the hydraulic drive motor (4) and in that the device comprises a gear transmission (5) arranged laterally outside a protective housing (3a) for the slicing chain (3).
  2. Device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the axis (4d) of rotation of the hydraulic motor (4) is substantially parallel to a drive axis (6) of the slicing chain (3).
  3. Device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the gear transmission (5) comprises a drive pinion (7), a torque-multiplying pinion (8) and a pinion (9) for driving the slicing chain (3).
  4. Device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the lateral milling heads (2) are secured to a shaft (11) driven to rotate by the slicing chain (3).
  5. Device according to Claim 4, characterized in that the lateral milling heads (2) are mounted at the ends of the shaft (11) driven by the slicing chain (3).
  6. Device according to Claim 3, characterized in that the slicing chain (3) is driven by a shaft (6) bearing a toothed wheel (13) and bearing the pinion (9) for driving the slicing chain (3).
  7. Device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the hydraulic motor (4) is accessible via a lateral cover (4a) arranged outside the housing (3a) of the slicing chain (3).
  8. Device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the hydraulic motor (4) is mounted in the body (1) of the device close to a flange (1a) for mounting on a construction or public works machine.
  9. Device according to Claim 8, characterized in that the mounting flange (1a) has a passage opening (1b) for connecting hydraulic lines (4b, 4c) for supplying the hydraulic motor (4) with hydraulic fluid.
