Definitions
- the present invention relates to the general technical field of equipment protection devices or electrical installations against electrical disturbances, in particular against transient overvoltages.
- surge protection devices are known and common. Such devices generally use a varistor as an overvoltage protection component. Indeed, the varistor closes the overvoltage from a predetermined value and limits the propagation of the surge on the power grid.
- thermal disconnection consists of disconnecting the surge protection device comprising the defective varistor, beyond a predetermined critical temperature.
- Such a device has disadvantages. Indeed, the bimetal, whose nature changes during the temperature rise, is subjected to high mechanical stress, since it is also the actuating element that allows the opening of the circuit. Such a device thus sees its reduced reliability as a result of vibrations or shocks suffered by the device. Moreover, the bimetal can see its temperature detection influenced by the current passing through the thermal disconnection. It is therefore necessary to size the detection means so that the flow of current does not influence the disconnector.
- the document FR2925216 discloses an overvoltage protection device comprising a protection component against overvoltages in thermal connection with a thermosensitive member capable of deforming in dependence on its temperature, and a mechanical member intended to cooperate with the thermosensitive member and adapted to cooperate with a device for tripping an electrical breaking device.
- a protection component against overvoltages in thermal connection with a thermosensitive member capable of deforming in dependence on its temperature
- a mechanical member intended to cooperate with the thermosensitive member and adapted to cooperate with a device for tripping an electrical breaking device.
- This overvoltage protection device is in mechanical connection with an electrical switching device, so there are two boxes each having specific functions: on one side detection of the critical temperature of malfunction of the overvoltage protection component, and on the other side the connection of the defective protection device is cut off from the rest of the electrical installation.
- Such a device has the disadvantage of requiring the use of two boxes, which generates manufacturing costs and a loss of space in the electrical installation. Furthermore, the protection device and the cutoff device are in series on the current path.
- the solutions require that the locking element is an electrical conductor, for example metallic with known mechanical deformation properties, and that it is capable of transforming a thermal effect into a mechanical force.
- DE202009013505U1 discloses a surge protection device housing according to the preamble of claim 1.
- overvoltage protection devices which have a thermal disconnection time which is too long, because the function of detecting the heating of the varistor is too far from the varistor, the reaction time of the The heating element is therefore not weak enough to ensure fast disconnection.
- the locking element not being part of the current path in which the switch participates, it is possible to position the locking element so that it reacts quickly to the release of heat, to use a material specifically adapted to this locking function and not necessarily conductive.
- the locking element releases the switch which goes into the open position.
- Such a case for protection device for overvoltages has the advantage of offering a device having a fast thermal disconnection. Indeed, the locking element is in contact with the overvoltage protection component and therefore closer to the heating.
- this housing whose mechanical switch, which has the function of disconnecting the housing comprising the defective overvoltage protection component, is different from the locking element, whose function is the opening of the circuit.
- the mechanical stresses experienced by the locking element are thus reduced, and its reliability is improved.
- the fact that all the elements, allowing the protection against overvoltages and the disconnection of the circuit comprising the surge protection element, are grouped together in the same housing, allows to gain space in the equipment or electrical installation to protect.
- an overvoltage protection device comprises a surge protection housing and a base fixed on a rail such that the two electrical connection elements of the housing are electrically connected to the base during racking the case.
- the overvoltage protection device comprises a plurality of overvoltage protection boxes and a plurality of bases fixed on a rail such that the two electrical connection elements of each of said boxes are connected to a terminal. respective base during the racking of the respective case.
- the Figures 1 to 20 represent nine variants of a housing 1 for overvoltage protection device.
- the temperature of the overvoltage protection component 13 increases in the presence of overvoltages.
- the accumulation, over time, of overvoltages induces an increase in temperature such that the temperature will exceed a critical threshold.
- This critical threshold is between 100 ° C. and 240 ° C., and particularly preferably between 120 ° C. and 190 ° C.
- This threshold corresponds to the temperature from which the reliability of the overvoltage protection component is no longer ensured. This temperature is determined in accordance with the safety requirements imposed by the applicable safety standards.
- the locking element 15, in thermal conduction contact with a bare metal part of an electrode 131 of the overvoltage protection component 13, will melt only under the effect of the heat transmitted by the surge protection component 13.
- the locking element 15 may be a low temperature solder or a plastic part. This locking element 15 detects the heating of the overvoltage protection component 13, and melts when the critical temperature threshold is reached.

- This displacement of the drive element 175 causes a displacement in translation of the insulating part 173, integral with the drive element 175, which is placed between the two conductive blades 171 and 172.
- FIGS. 5 and 6 illustrate a second embodiment of a housing 1 for overvoltage protection device.

Description
The present invention relates to the general technical field of equipment protection devices or electrical installations against electrical disturbances, in particular against transient overvoltages.
The use of surge protection devices is known and common. Such devices generally use a varistor as an overvoltage protection component. Indeed, the varistor closes the overvoltage from a predetermined value and limits the propagation of the surge on the power grid.
Such components deteriorate throughout their use, their impedance decreasing gradually, which increases the intensity of their leakage current, and thus creates a significant heating of the varistor by Joule effect. This heating is transmitted to nearby equipment, which can cause fires or short circuits.
In order to avoid any possible deterioration of the equipment or electrical installation connected to the device, it is necessary to be able to disconnect this device at the end of the life of the varistor.
Such a disconnection device, called thermal disconnection, consists of disconnecting the surge protection device comprising the defective varistor, beyond a predetermined critical temperature.
Ainsi, le document
- une unité de protection connectée à l'équipement électrique via un circuit de connexion comprenant un moyen d'interruption de courant électrique, mobile entre une position de rappel correspondant à l'ouverture du circuit et une position de fermeture du circuit, ledit moyen d'interruption étant maintenu en position de fermeture par un moyen de blocage ;
- a protection unit connected to the electrical equipment via a connection circuit comprising an electrical current interruption means, movable between a return position corresponding to the opening of the circuit and a closed position of the circuit, said means of interruption being maintained in the closed position by a locking means;
- means for opening the connection circuit when the temperature of the protection unit reaches a predetermined value, comprising a heat-sensitive means. This heat sensitive means is connected to an actuating means, so that when the predetermined temperature is reached, the actuating means produces a deactivating force of the locking means. The means sensitive to heat and actuation are merged and formed by a bimetallic strip.
Such a device has disadvantages.
This overvoltage protection device is in mechanical connection with an electrical switching device, so there are two boxes each having specific functions: on one side detection of the critical temperature of malfunction of the overvoltage protection component, and on the other side the connection of the defective protection device is cut off from the rest of the electrical installation.
Such a device has the disadvantage of requiring the use of two boxes, which generates manufacturing costs and a loss of space in the electrical installation. Furthermore, the protection device and the cutoff device are in series on the current path.
Thus, in these two patents, the solutions require that the locking element is an electrical conductor, for example metallic with known mechanical deformation properties, and that it is capable of transforming a thermal effect into a mechanical force.
On the other hand, overvoltage protection devices are known which have a thermal disconnection time which is too long, because the function of detecting the heating of the varistor is too far from the varistor, the reaction time of the The heating element is therefore not weak enough to ensure fast disconnection.
It would therefore be advantageous to obtain an overvoltage protection device whose thermal disconnection is rapid, the reliability of which is improved by reducing the mechanical stresses experienced by the elements of the device, and which makes it possible to obtain a saving of space in the area. equipment or electrical installation to be protected.
To overcome these drawbacks, there is provided a surge protection device housing according to
Additional embodiments are defined in the dependent claims.
Thus, advantageously, the locking element not being part of the current path in which the switch participates, it is possible to position the locking element so that it reacts quickly to the release of heat, to use a material specifically adapted to this locking function and not necessarily conductive.
In addition, when the temperature of the overvoltage protection component exceeds a critical threshold, the locking element releases the switch which goes into the open position.
Such a case for protection device for overvoltages has the advantage of offering a device having a fast thermal disconnection. Indeed, the locking element is in contact with the overvoltage protection component and therefore closer to the heating.
In addition, advantageously, this housing whose mechanical switch, which has the function of disconnecting the housing comprising the defective overvoltage protection component, is different from the locking element, whose function is the opening of the circuit. The mechanical stresses experienced by the locking element are thus reduced, and its reliability is improved.
Advantageously, the fact that all the elements, allowing the protection against overvoltages and the disconnection of the circuit comprising the surge protection element, are grouped together in the same housing, allows to gain space in the equipment or electrical installation to protect.

et 12, dont la température augmente en présence d'une surtension ; - un élément de verrouillage 15, en contact avec le composant de protection contre les surtensions 13 ;

overvoltage protection component 13, typically a varistor, electrically connected to the two 11 and 12, whose temperature increases in the presence of an overvoltage;electrical connection elements - a locking

mechanical switch 17, connected to the lockingelement 15, installed in series between one of the twoelectrical connection elements 11 and theovervoltage protection component 13, the lockingelement 15 holding theswitch 17 in the closed position . - The locking

The temperature of the
When this critical threshold is reached, the locking
The locking
The melting of the locking
When the temperature of the

The connection of the surge protection device being done during the plugging of each of said surge protection boxes on each of said respective bases.
This connection is made by electrically connecting the two electrical connection elements and each housing to the respectively associated base. Thus, the surge protection device is electrically connected to the equipment or electrical installation to be protected.
When the temperature of the overvoltage protection component reaches the predefined critical threshold, the breaking of the electrical contact between the conductive blades of each of said housings isolates the overvoltage protection device of the equipment or electrical installation to be protected.
The invention has been illustrated and described in detail in the drawings and the foregoing description. This must be considered as illustrative and given by way of example and not as limiting the invention to this description alone. Many alternative embodiments are possible.
In the claims, the word "comprising" does not exclude other elements and the indefinite article "a" does not exclude a plurality.
