Definitions
- the invention relates to a microphone protection device for preventing the ingress of dirt and / or moisture into a sound inlet opening of a microphone comprising a dirt and / or moisture repellent and / or dirt and / or moisture impermeable membrane.
- the invention relates to a hearing aid with a corresponding microphone protection device and a microphone unit with a microphone and a microphone protection device.
- the microphone protection device should prevent the penetration of dirt and moisture into a microphone as completely as possible. Furthermore, the microphone protection device should attenuate as little as possible an acoustic input signal into the microphone. In addition, the microphone protection device should be effective for as long as possible and in particular not clog. These requirements can only be met if a relatively large surface is provided for the membrane of the microphone protection device. However, this is contrary to the aim of hearing aids miniaturization. In particular, in hearing aid devices with a plurality of microphones, only a relatively narrowly limited area for the microphone protection device can be provided on the housing surface of the hearing aid device for each microphone.
- microphone protection devices having provided with a water-repellent coating grid. Although these have only a low attenuation, but they offer only a relatively small water column in terms of water resistance.
- microphone protection devices with flat, (micro) porous membranes which have a high water column but require a relatively large membrane area for low attenuation.
- the document describes EP 310 866 A1 a microphone protection device with a dirt and water-impermeable membrane made of Gore-Tex material.
- Object of the present invention is to provide a microphone protection device, in particular for a hearing aid device, which offers a high waterproofness and low acoustic damping with a relatively small footprint.
- the microphone protection device comprises a dirt and / or moisture repellent or dirt and / or moisture impermeable membrane, which prevents the penetration of dirt and / or moisture into the microphone.
- the membrane is at least partially cylindrical jacket-shaped or arranged on a cylinder jacket surface to achieve a relatively large surface area with little space on the housing surface of an electroacoustic device, for which the microphone protection device is provided.
- cylinder jacket-shaped or “cylindrical” means that at least part of the membrane forms a cylinder jacket.
- the base of the cylinder may have any shape. However, a circular, rectangular, in particular square, or elliptical base are advantageous.
- a cavity is formed by the membrane, which, however, has at least one open, ie not closed by the membrane side.
- the membrane thus does not form a completely closed cylinder surface.
- the at least one open side is also closed by no other material or cover element.
- the open side can also for example, be covered by a "coarse-meshed” compared to the membrane grid.
- the open side is the base and / or the top surface of the cylinder formed by the membrane.
- the cylinder jacket-shaped design can be done, for example, by rolling up a flat, rectangular membrane.
- At least one membrane which does not form a complete cylinder jacket can also be applied to a carrier, in particular a cylinder jacket-shaped carrier, so that the membrane lies on a cylinder jacket surface or forms it at least partially.
- a carrier in particular a cylinder jacket-shaped carrier
- the carrier is at least partially, especially in the membrane, permeable to air and acoustically transparent.
- the invention offers the advantage that at least substantially only space for an (open) end (base or top surface of the cylinder) of the cylinder jacket-shaped membrane is required on the housing surface of the electroacoustic device for the membrane protection device. This makes it possible to reduce the space requirement on the housing surface of the electroacoustic device, although a relatively large effective surface of the membrane for protecting the microphone is effective.
- the microphone protection device is designed as a structural unit of a likewise cylindrical jacket-shaped, outer shell and the membrane arranged therein.
- the microphone protection device thus has the structure of a double-walled tube.
- the outer shell preferably acts as a membrane carrier. The membrane carrier simplifies installation and replacement of the membrane with respect to an electroacoustic device.
- the outer shell having a larger diameter than the membrane surrounded by the membrane and the outer shell are advantageously spaced from each other. They preferably have the same axis of symmetry. At the ends of the tubular sheath, the area between the membrane and sheath is preferably closed, e.g. by appropriate projections on the shell, so that neither dirt nor moisture can penetrate into the space between the membrane and the shell.
- the area between the membrane and the shell may also be filled with an acoustically transparent material, for example a foam.
- the open end may also be provided with a, preferably substantially disc-shaped, protective cover.
- This protective cover consists e.g. from a relative to the membrane relatively coarse guard, which prevents coarse dirt particles get to the membrane.
- a microphone connection port is advantageously located in the outer shell of the microphone protection device a microphone connection port.
- the microphone protection device according to the invention is particularly advantageous for installation in a hearing aid, since in hearing aid devices as far as possible miniaturization of the devices is sought and claims the microphone protection device according to the invention, only relatively little space on the housing surface of a hearing aid concerned.
- the microphone protection device according to the invention is not limited to installation in a hearing aid. Rather, it can also be installed in other electroacoustic devices, in particular communication devices such as mobile phones, headsets, PDAs etc ..
- a microphone protection device in a portable behind the ear hearing aid with a housing with a left side of the housing and a symmetrically designed right side housing a microphone protection device according to the invention can be installed and dimensioned in the hearing aid such that a first open end of the cylinder jacket-shaped microphone protection device in the left side of the housing and a second end of the cylinder jacket-shaped membrane opens in the right side of the housing of the hearing aid in question.
- the membrane thus has the form of a pipe open on two sides.
- the tubular membrane thus forms a channel through the hearing aid from one side of the housing to the other.
- a suitable tool can be particularly easily introduced into the channel formed by the membrane for cleaning or replacement of the membrane.
- Different hearing aids for the supply of the left and the right ear can then be generated in a simple manner that each of the microphone openings closed on one side of the housing, for example, be glued over.
- the envelope surrounding the membrane of the microphone protection device is formed integrally with the housing of the hearing aid device.
- the membrane is then subsequently inserted into the correspondingly formed, finished housing, e.g. glued.
- a further embodiment of the invention provides a microphone unit with a microphone and an associated microphone protection device according to the invention as a structural unit.
- FIG. 1 shows in a highly simplified block diagram by way of example the construction of a hearing aid, in particular a behind the ear portable hearing aid, according to the prior art.
- Hearing devices comprise, in principle, as essential components, an input transducer, an amplifier and an output transducer.
- the input transducer is usually a sound receiver, z. As a microphone, and / or an electromagnetic receiver, for. B. an induction coil.
- the output transducer is usually used as an electroacoustic transducer, z. As miniature speaker or handset, or as an electromechanical transducer, z. B. bone conduction, realized.
- the amplifier is usually integrated in a signal processing unit. In the embodiment according to FIG.
- one or more microphones 2 are installed for receiving the sound from the environment.
- a signal processing unit 3 which is also located in the hearing aid housing 1, processes the microphone signals and amplifies them.
- the output signal of the signal processing unit 3 is transmitted to a loudspeaker or earpiece 4, which outputs an acoustic signal. If necessary, the sound is transmitted to the user's eardrum via a sound tube, which is fixed in the ear canal with an earmold.
- the power supply of the hearing aid and in particular that of the signal processing unit 3 is carried out by a likewise arranged in the hearing aid housing 1 battery. 5
- FIG. 2 shows a microphone unit with a microphone 21 and a firmly connected thereto microphone protection device 22 according to the invention.
- the microphone protection device 22 comprises a cylinder jacket-shaped, consisting of an air-impermeable material shell 23 and disposed within the shell 23 and also cylinder jacket-shaped membrane 24.
- the shell 23 and the membrane 24 have the same axis of symmetry in the exemplary embodiment and their cross-sections are concentric circles.
- substantially disc-shaped portion 25 In the region between a front end of the cylinder jacket-shaped membrane 24 and the cylinder jacket-shaped shell 23 is an integrally formed with the shell 23, substantially disc-shaped portion 25, the penetration of dirt or moisture into the space between the cylinder jacket 23 and the cylinder jacket-shaped membrane 24 prevented.
- the disk-shaped region 25 serves for fastening the membrane 24 within the envelope 23.
- an electro-acoustic device in particular a hearing aid device
- installed state of the microphone protection device 22 is essentially only the place for from the FIG. 2 apparent, open end of the cylinder jacket-shaped membrane 24 required on the device surface.
- the effective area of the microphone protection device 22 is thus shifted into the device.
- the space required on the housing surface is so small compared to the effective surface of the membrane 24.
- the structure of the microphone protection device 22 and the connection to the microphone 21 are determined by the sectional drawing in accordance with FIG. 3 further clarified.
- FIG. 3 the arrangement of the cylinder jacket-shaped membrane 24 formed within the likewise cylinder jacket-shaped Case 23 can be seen.
- Typical diameters of the cylinder jacket-shaped, in particular with a circular cross-section, formed membrane 24 with at least one open end face of the cylinder are in hearing aid applications in the range of 1 mm to 1.5 mm.
- Typical diameters of the sheath 23 are in the range between 1.5 mm and 2.5 mm.
- the height of the cylinder jacket formed by the membrane is preferably in the range of 2 mm to 6 mm in hearing aid applications.
- the height of the cylinder jacket-shaped shell may slightly exceed the height of the membrane if necessary.
- FIG. 3 the sound inlet opening 26 of the microphone 21 and an associated microphone connection opening 27 in the shell 23 of the microphone protection device 22 can be seen.
- the sound conduction from the microphone protection device 22 to the microphone 21 takes place via these two openings.
- FIG. 4 shows a schematic representation of another embodiment of a microphone unit 30 according to the invention, which consists essentially of a microphone 31 and a microphone protection device 32.
- the microphone protection device 32 and the microphone 31 are both joined together in the longitudinal direction. This means that the axis of symmetry in the longitudinal direction of the microphone 31 and the symmetry axis of the microphone protection device 32 run parallel or even coincide.
- Sound entering the microphone unit 30 via a sound inlet opening 38 must first pass through the membrane 34 in order to enter a cavity between the outer shell 33 of the microphone protection unit 32 and the membrane 34. In the direction of the microphone 31, this cavity is closed by an airtight closing element 36.
- the microphone protection device also offers the advantage that vibrations exerted on the microphone protection device and in particular its diaphragm, which can be transmitted, for example, to a microphone protection device arranged in a hearing aid device, can be largely compensated by a receiver likewise arranged there.
- a portion of the membrane is moved relative to the shell towards the shell and moves within the shell of this portion opposite the second portion of the shell away.
- the movements transmitted to the membrane by the movement (vibration) of the envelope compensate each other with respect to their acoustic effect.
- FIG. 5 shows two microphone protection devices 41 and 42 according to the invention, which are installed in a behind the ear portable hearing aid 43.
- these openings are provided with relatively coarse-meshed protective gratings 44 and 45. These may optionally be subsequently glued to the housing after assembly of the hearing aid 43 in question and, if necessary, be removed again accordingly.
- the arrangement according to the invention has the further advantage over the already mentioned advantages that the membrane is not directly accessible from the outside and therefore can not be accidentally touched with the fingers, for example. As a result, on the one hand unpleasant, caused by the contact Noise is avoided and, moreover, the membrane is better protected against mechanical stress than would be the case with a membrane arranged on the surface of the device.
- the arrangement shown has a further advantage: the receiving point of a microphone is usually located approximately in the middle of each sound inlet opening in the housing of a respective device. Since only relatively little space in relation to the desired membrane surface is required on the housing surface in the invention, the sound entry openings belonging to different microphones can be located very close to one another. It is therefore possible to build acoustically very short microphone arrays, that is to say microphones with a low acoustically relevant distance.
