Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device for withdrawing a fluid from at least one container, in particular from a container closed by a pierceable closure, e.g. a vial with septum closure.
  • the present invention relates to a device for filling an applicator with at least one fluid reservoir of one or more vials.
  • the task is to produce and discharge a mixture of two or more flowable components in a predetermined mixing ratio.
  • An example is the preparation of an adhesive for technical or medical applications, e.g. a medical glue based on fibrin.
  • Another example is the preparation of a multi-component bone cement using a monomer.
  • US 6,488,650 discloses several embodiments of a filling device that makes it possible to treat a dual syringe type applicator with two reservoirs of two vials.
  • the device has a connection region on which two connections for the reservoirs are formed.
  • On the opposite side of a hood for receiving the vials is formed.
  • the septa of the vials are pierced by hollow needles, which communicate via fluid channels with the connections for the reservoirs.
  • the fluid channels divert the fluids between the vials and the reservoir ports so that the reservoir spacing may be less than the pitch of the hollow needles.
  • the structure of such a filling device is relatively complicated: the device comprises two separately formed housing halves, which must be connected together to form the connection area and the hood. Before connecting the two halves, the fluid channels are inserted with the connections for the reservoirs and with the hollow needles in the housing halves. This leads to a relatively complicated manufacturing process and correspondingly increased costs. In addition, the loss volume of such a device is relatively large.
  • FIGS. 8 Figure 14 discloses a filling device for a dual-syringe applicator of vials.
  • This filling device has a disk-like base body with a bottom side and a top side. On the upper side, two inlet openings spaced from one another, which are connected to piercing members in cup-like vial holders, are formed. At the bottom two outlet openings are formed with a smaller distance, to which the applicator is connectable. In each case an inlet opening and outlet opening are connected to one another by a fluid channel running perpendicular to these openings.
  • This filling device also has a relatively large loss volume.
  • the vials are usually simply inserted into the device to puncture the septa. In some of these devices, the vials are then, after complete insertion into the device and after puncture of the septa, fixed by a latching connection to the device.
  • known devices are usually not suitable to the vials directly to the Store as it can not be ruled out that the septum of a vial is inadvertently punctured during transport or handling.
  • the present invention provides an adapter-like device which makes it possible to remove a fluid from a container, wherein the fluid is deflected in the device, e.g. to fill at least one reservoir of an applicator from at least one container with a fluid, wherein the device has a reduced loss volume.
  • a device for removing a fluid from at least one container has a base body with an upper side and a lower side, in which at least one fluid channel running along a longitudinal direction with a constant or variable cross-section is formed.
  • At the top of the base body is at least one angled (ie angle not equal to 0 °, preferably amount of the angle> 30 °, more preferably perpendicular) formed to the fluid passage inlet opening which opens into the fluid channel, and at the bottom of the base body is at least one angled (Preferably, the amount of the angle> 30 °, more preferably perpendicular) to the fluid passage extending outlet opening formed, which also opens into the fluid channel.
  • the outlet opening is arranged offset relative to the inlet opening, ie the outlet opening and the inlet opening open at different locations along the fluid channel.
  • the device also includes at least one container port for connecting a container to the inlet port, which may be done in any manner.
  • at least one insertion opening extending along the longitudinal direction is formed in the base body and opening into the fluid passage, and an insert member is inserted through the insertion opening into the fluid passage. This insert element extends into the fluid channel in such a way that it reduces the cross section of the fluid channel in a region between the inlet opening and the outlet opening.
  • the insert element may have the form of a pin which extends into the fluid channel along the longitudinal axis.
  • the insert preferably sits sealingly in the fluid channel, i. it preferably has a peripheral surface (lateral surface) which abuts substantially sealingly between a boundary wall of the fluid channel between the inlet opening and the outlet opening and forms a fluid connection of reduced cross-section alone or together with a boundary wall of the fluid channel.
  • a first annular groove may be formed, which is at least partially (preferably completely ) extends around the insert element, and in the region of the outlet opening, a second annular groove can be formed in the peripheral surface, which likewise extends at least partially (preferably completely) around the insert element.
  • the mentioned fluid connection is formed.
  • This can e.g. may be formed in the form of a connecting groove connecting the two annular grooves or may be e.g. be formed as a bore through the insert element.
  • a connection groove is preferred.
  • a flattening may be formed in the peripheral surface of the insert element (i.e., on its outer circumference) defining a gap between the boundary wall of the fluid channel and the insert element.
  • the gap forms at least part of the fluid connection mentioned.
  • connecting groove or flattening can also be advantageously used if no annular grooves are present, for example because the insert element is not rotationally symmetrical and therefore can be introduced in any case only in a single, fixed orientation with respect to a rotation about the longitudinal axis.
  • the connecting groove or flattening may be parallel to the longitudinal direction or obliquely thereto, for example helically wound or meander-shaped, extend, but the shortest possible configuration is preferred in order to keep the loss volume low.
  • the insert element is preferably arranged sealingly in the base body, so that the fluid can not reach these areas.
  • a first latching structure may be formed on the insert element, and then a complementary second latching structure is formed on the base body. These locking structures then work together to hold the insert latching in the base member.
  • the first latching structure may include an annular bead on the insert element, while the second latching structure comprises a complementary annular groove in a jacket wall of the fluid channel or the insertion opening.
  • the fluid channel and the insert element of complementary shape and at least partially (preferably at least in the region between the inlet opening and outlet opening) to the insertion towards conically widened. This makes it very easy to achieve the desired sealing effect between the peripheral surface of the insert element and the boundary wall of the fluid channel, even in the presence of dimensional tolerances.
  • the device can be used in particular as a filling device or adapter for filling at least one reservoir of an applicator from at least one container, in particular a vial.
  • the applicator can be a syringe-like applicator in which the reservoir is delimited by a movable piston, so that the reservoir can be filled by retracting the piston from a distal end position into a proximal direction.
  • the device preferably has an applicator connection in order to connect the reservoir of the applicator to the outlet opening.
  • the applicator connection can be equipped with a holding device, in particular with a detachable latching connection, for the applicator. It can be made in one piece with the base body or separately from it.
  • the applicator connection is formed, for example, by a female luer cone; However, preferred is a special embodiment in which the loss volume is less than in a normal standardized luer connection, for example, an embodiment according to the embodiments described below.
  • the device serves to remove the fluid from at least one vial or other container with a pierceable closure, it preferably has in the region of the container connection a hollow needle-like piercing member connected to the inlet opening in order to pierce a closure of the container.
  • the device in the region of the container connection preferably has a container receptacle which is designed to hold the container to the device.
  • the device can also be used for other purposes, e.g. as an adapter for connecting a container to an accessory, e.g. a mixer or atomizer. Also in such applications, it may be desirable to divert fluid between the container and the accessory while minimizing the loss volume.
  • the container may then be e.g. a carpule (i.e., a container with a pierceable closure and displaceable piston) or a single or multiple syringe, and the container port may then be designed accordingly.
  • a suitably designed connection for the accessory can then be present.
  • the device can be configured for the simultaneous removal of fluids from at least two containers.
  • the two fluid channels preferably run collinearly one behind the other along the longitudinal direction, wherein the insert elements are introduced from two opposite sides into the two fluid channels.
  • a second fluid passage having a constant or variable cross-section running along the longitudinal direction is formed on the upper side of the base body, a second inlet opening extending at an angle to the second fluid channel, which opens into the second fluid channel, and at the bottom the base body is angled to the second fluid channel extending) second outlet opening, which opens with respect to the longitudinal direction offset from the second inlet opening of the second fluid channel.
  • the device then has a second container port to connect a second container to the second inlet port.
  • the base body is then running along the longitudinal direction, the the first insertion opening facing away from the second inlet opening, which opens into the second fluid channel, and the filling device has a second insert element, which is inserted through the second insertion opening into the second fluid channel and reduces the cross section of the second fluid channel between the second inlet opening and the second outlet opening.
  • the present invention provides an adapter-like device for withdrawing a fluid from at least one container closed by a pierceable closure, which makes it possible to store the container on the device without unintentionally opening the container.
  • a pierceable closure Such a device is specified in claim 12.
  • the two aspects of the invention can be used individually or combined with each other.
  • the container receptacle In order to securely hold the container to the device prior to puncturing the closure and to prevent accidental puncturing, the container receptacle has a first latching structure to move the container to a storage position where the container is farther from the base body than in the removal position (And in the thereby the closure is not pierced) to fix by a releasable locking connection to the container receptacle.
  • the container is also fixed in the removal position, and the container receptacle then additionally has a second latching structure for this purpose in order to secure the container in the removal position To fix removal position by a latching connection to the container receptacle.
