Definitions

  • the invention relates to a bituminous roofing membrane, for example a roof waterproofing membrane, a sarking membrane or membranes that serve as vapor barriers or intermediate layers.
  • the roofing membrane has at least one backing layer and top and bottom, alternating successive bitumen strips running in the longitudinal direction of the membrane, and bitumen-free strips lying deeper in relation to these and having approximately the same width as the bitumen strips.
  • a roofing membrane (hereinafter also referred to as "membrane”) of this basic structure is from the EP 1 283 929 B known.
  • bitumen-free strips mentioned above and below are the parts of the surface of the carrier layer which are not covered by the raised bitumen strips and are generally non-adhesive.
  • a bituminous support layer e.g. A fiber fleece impregnated with bitumen, which can also have a single or multi-layer coating of bitumen on one or both sides, the surfaces are provided with a mineral scattering, and as a result the strips between the bitumen strips are bitumen-free on the surface.
  • the carrier layer itself is bitumen-free or at least the last layer on at least one side made of a polymeric plastic in the form of a coating or a laminated film on which the raised bitumen strips are applied, the intermediate, lower-lying bitumen-free strips result on their own.
  • bituminous roofing sheets adjoining one another in the longitudinal direction are connected to one another in such a way that the end of a sheet is overlapped by the beginning of the next following sheet with a predetermined overlap length.
  • the overlapping web sections in the case of cold-adhesive bitumen are connected to one another at least by pressing, in some cases by heating or welding, in the case of heat-activated bitumen by welding by means of hot air or a gas flame.
  • bituminous roofing membrane with bitumen strips and bitumen-free strips running on the top and bottom in the longitudinal direction of the membrane.
  • the bitumen strips on the top and bottom sides overlap at least partially, so that at least one bitumen strip is present at every point on the web.
  • the DD 265591 A1 discloses a bituminous roofing sheet with spaced bitumen strips that extend in the transverse direction of the sheet so that the sheet can be rolled up more easily.
  • the roofing membrane is provided with bitumen strips on one side only.
  • the roofing membrane is provided on both sides with bitumen strips that are exactly aligned with one another.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a roofing membrane of the type specified in the introduction, which reliably avoids such leaks in the area of the head butt.
  • bituminous roofing membrane with the features of patent claim 1 or 4 in particular in that the bitumen strips on the top are offset by a strip width in the transverse direction of the membrane compared to the bitumen strips on the underside, such that when the end of a membrane is welded to a this end overlapping the beginning of the next run the bitumen strips of the latter come to lie in the bitumen-free strips of the former.
  • the bitumen strips on the underside of a subsequent web engage like a zipper between the bitumen-free strips on the top side of the already laid web.
  • the offset according to the invention of the bitumen strips on the underside does not change anything in relation to the usual bitumen alignment in the longitudinal direction compared to the bitumen strips on the top.
  • top and / or bottom bitumen strips preferably each cover 40% to 60% of the area of the top or bottom of the roof waterproofing membrane.
  • the bitumen strips can have a width between 5 mm and 150 mm.
  • At least the top or bottom bitumen strips have interruptions spaced apart from one another and the bitumen-free strips on both sides of each bitumen strip are connected to one another via these interruptions. This enables a vapor pressure equalization, sometimes only on the underside, only on the top or on both sides of the installed sheets. However, these interruptions do not affect the watertight connection of the headbuttons.
  • the interruptions of adjacent bitumen strips are expediently offset from one another by more than the length of the overlap of two webs which follow one another in the longitudinal direction, so that, for example, one further sealing layer applied to the web shows no or at least no continuous depressions, as can occur without the interruptions being offset.
  • the offset of the interruptions by more than the overlap length ensures that the interlocking bitumen strips in the butt joint have no gaps in the transverse direction.
  • the roofing membrane is provided with a meltable or removable plastic film at least on the top or bottom, usually on both sides, especially if the bitumen strips consist of cold-adhesive bitumen.
  • the surfaces of the top and / or bottom bitumen strips facing away from the carrier layer can have a groove profile. The latter makes it easier to remove the plastic film before or during installation either by pulling it off or by flaming it.
  • the at least one carrier layer generally comprises a tensile insert made of an at least single-layer fleece, grid or fabric.
  • the fleece, grid or fabric is either impregnated with bitumen or embedded in a polymer plastic.
  • additional functional layers can be placed on this impregnated or embedded insert, e.g. a coated metal foil, applied to one or both sides.
  • bitumen-free strips can have a surface mineral scattering on the carrier layer, or alternatively can consist of a layer made of a plastic polymer.
  • bitumen of the bitumen strips can be cold adhesive or heat activated (also in the sense of weldable).
  • roofing membranes of the present type are usually laid in several parallel membranes, the longitudinal edges of adjacent membranes overlapping in a scale-like manner.
  • the roofing membrane has, according to a solution according to the invention, a continuous top edge strip made of bitumen with a width corresponding to the prescribed coverage width of adjacent strips on one longitudinal edge and a continuous bottom edge strip without bitumen on the other longitudinal edge.

Description

  • Fig. 1:
