Definitions
- the invention relates to a bituminous roofing membrane, such as a roofing membrane, a roofing membrane or webs, which serve as vapor barriers or liners.
- the roofing membrane has at least one carrier layer as well as top-side and bottom-side, alternately successive bitumen strips extending in the longitudinal direction of the web and lower-lying, bitumen-free strips with approximately the same width as the bitumen strips.
- a roofing membrane (in the following also briefly "course") this fundamental structure is from the EP 1 283 929 B known.
- bitumen-free strips mentioned above and below are the parts of the surface of the carrier layer which are not covered by the raised bitumen strips and are generally non-adhesive.
- a bituminous carrier layer ie, for example, a nonwoven fabric impregnated with bitumen, which may additionally have a single or multi-layer coating of bitumen on one or both sides, the corresponding surfaces are provided with a particular mineral dispersion and as a result the strips superficially bitumen-free between the bitumen strips.
- the carrier layer itself is free of bitumen or at least the last layer on at least one side of a polymeric plastic, for example in the form of a coating or a laminated film to which the raised bitumen strips are applied, the intervening, lower-lying bitumen-free strips arise from even.
- roofing membranes are connected to each other in such a way that the end of a web is overlapped by the beginning of the next following track with a predetermined overlap length.
- head butt in the case of cold-sticking bitumen, the overlapping web sections are connected to one another at least by pressing, in some cases by heating or welding, in the case of heat-activatable bitumen by welding by means of hot air or gas flame.
- the invention has for its object to provide a roofing membrane of the type mentioned in the introduction, which avoids such leaks in the head butt safely.
- top-side bitumen strips are offset from the bottom bitumen strips in the transverse direction of the web by one stripe width, such that at a welding of the end of a web with this end overlapping the beginning of the next train bitumen strips the latter in the bitumen-free Strips of the former come to rest.
- the lower-side bitumen strips of a subsequent web are zipper-like between the upper-side, bitumen-free strips of the already laid web.
- top side and / or the bottom side bitumen strips preferably cover respectively 40% to 60% of the area of the top side or the underside of the roofing membrane.
- the bituminous strips can have a width between 5 mm and 150 mm.
- At least the top or bottom bitumen strips have spaced interruptions, and the bitumen-free strips on either side of each bitumen strip communicate with each other through these discontinuities.
- This allows a vapor pressure equalization, sometimes only on the underside, only on the top or on both sides of the laid tracks.
- these interruptions do not affect the watertight connection of the head joints.
- the interruptions of adjacent bitumen strips are offset by more than the length of the overlap of two consecutive tracks in the longitudinal direction against each other, so that, for example, another, applied to the web sealing layer no or at least not continuous Lowering shows how they can arise without the offset of the breaks.
- the offset of the interruptions by more than the overlap length ensures that the bitumen strips intermeshing in the top of the head have no gaps in the transverse direction.
- the roofing membrane is provided at least on the upper side or underside, usually on both sides with a fusible or removable plastic film, in particular if the bitumen strips consist of cold-bonding bitumen.
- the surfaces of the top side and / or the bottom side bitumen strips facing away from the carrier layer may have a groove profile. The latter facilitates the removal of the plastic film before or during installation either by peeling or by Abflämmen.
- the at least one carrier layer generally comprises a tension-resistant insert made of an at least single-layer fleece, grid or fabric.
- the fleece, mesh or fabric is either impregnated with bitumen or embedded in a polymeric plastic.
- further functional layers e.g. a coated metal foil, applied on one or both sides.
- bitumen-free strips may have a superficial mineral dispersion on the carrier layer, alternatively consist of a layer of a plastic polymer.
- roofing membranes of the present type are normally laid in several parallel paths, wherein the longitudinal edges of adjacent webs overlap in a scaly manner.
- the roofing membrane has a continuous, top-side edge strips of bitumen with a width corresponding to the prescribed overlap width of adjacent webs on one longitudinal edge and a continuous, underside edge strip without bitumen on the other longitudinal edge.
- FIG. 1 shows the end of a roofing sheet I and the beginning of a longitudinally adjacent roofing sheet II.
- the end of the sheet I and the beginning of the sheet II overlap over a predetermined by the laying rules of the prior art length l, where it forms the head butt.
- a next, parallel laid orbit III, which is overlapped by the lanes I and II imbricated, is indicated.
- the gap between lanes I and II on the one hand and lane III on the other hand has been included for clarity of illustration only.
- the tracks are constructed identically, as in the following with reference to the in Fig. 2 illustrated partial cross section in the region of the head joint between the railways I and II is explained:
- Each of the webs comprises a cross-hatched, tensile insert 1, e.g. of a bitumen-impregnated fibrous web or a fabric or a grid of tensile fibers, e.g. Glass remote.
- tensile insert 1 e.g. of a bitumen-impregnated fibrous web or a fabric or a grid of tensile fibers, e.g. Glass remote.
- coatings 2 and 3 are applied on both sides, which may consist of bitumen or a polymer plastic. Coatings 2 and 3 may be identical or different. The layer thicknesses shown are not to scale.
- the insert 1 and the coatings 2, 3 together form the carrier layer of the roofing membrane.
- the webs I, II and III on the carrier layer spaced apart, raised bitumen strips 4 and 5 have the same width.
- the bitumen strips 4 and 5 are separated from each other by bitumen-free strips 6 and 7, respectively.
- the coating 2 is made of bitumen, therefore, for the web I exaggerated indicated, mineral scouring 8 applied to this coating 2 over the entire surface.
- the existing in the field of bitumen stripping is embedded in the bottom of the bitumen and therefore not visible in the figure. If the coatings 2 and / or 3 are made of a polymeric plastic, such a scattering is unnecessary.
- the top side bitumen strips 4 are transversely offset relative to the bottom bitumen strips 5, in such a way that the lower side bitumen strips 5 in height of the top side run bitumen-free strip 6. If the bitumen-free strips have the same width as the bitumen strips as assumed in the present embodiment, the offset is the underside bitumen strip 5 opposite the top-side bitumen strips 4 equal to the width of these bitumen strips. However, the plastic properties of the bitumen make it possible to make the width of the bitumen-free strips slightly smaller or slightly larger than the width of the bituminous strips. In any case, the lower-side bituminous strips 5 of the web II engage the bitumen-free strips 6 at the top of the web I in a zip-like manner in the area of the top of the head.
- bitumen strips have spaced longitudinally staggered interruptions 9 that allow for vapor pressure equalization below and above the laid roof sheeting.
- a continuous or longitudinally slotted foil Before laying such roofing membranes are usually covered on both sides with a continuous or longitudinally slotted foil.
- a continuous or longitudinally slotted foil In Fig. 2 Such a film 10 is indicated only schematically. The film may be peelable or fusible by the usual gas burner.
- the webs I and II (and also III) have at their one longitudinal edge, here the left longitudinal edge, the upper side a wide edge strip 11 made of bitumen. It is used for connection, in particular for welding with a parallel and overlapping roofing membrane as III.
- the carrier layer 1, 2, 3 bitumen-free, so that does not form a thickened seam strip in the overlap region of two parallel webs.

Abstract
Description
The bitumen-free strips mentioned above and below are the parts of the surface of the carrier layer which are not covered by the raised bitumen strips and are generally non-adhesive. In the case of a bituminous carrier layer, ie, for example, a nonwoven fabric impregnated with bitumen, which may additionally have a single or multi-layer coating of bitumen on one or both sides, the corresponding surfaces are provided with a particular mineral dispersion and as a result the strips superficially bitumen-free between the bitumen strips. If the carrier layer itself is free of bitumen or at least the last layer on at least one side of a polymeric plastic, for example in the form of a coating or a laminated film to which the raised bitumen strips are applied, the intervening, lower-lying bitumen-free strips arise from even.
According to the rules of the roofing trade longitudinally adjacent bitumen roofing membranes are connected to each other in such a way that the end of a web is overlapped by the beginning of the next following track with a predetermined overlap length. In this so-called head butt, in the case of cold-sticking bitumen, the overlapping web sections are connected to one another at least by pressing, in some cases by heating or welding, in the case of heat-activatable bitumen by welding by means of hot air or gas flame. Although these head joints are watertight in the case of roofing membranes with a continuous bitumen coating; in roofing membranes of the aforementioned type, however, it can - especially if the strips are made of cold-bonding bitumen - come to leaks, because just with careful alignment of the adjoining sheets, the lower side bitumen strips of the second track exactly on the top side strips of the first, already laid track to come to rest, with the risk that the initially bitumen-free strips are not completely filled in the area of the head butt by displaced or liquefied by the flame bitumen.
The invention has for its object to provide a roofing membrane of the type mentioned in the introduction, which avoids such leaks in the head butt safely.
This object is achieved in that the top-side bitumen strips are offset from the bottom bitumen strips in the transverse direction of the web by one stripe width, such that at a welding of the end of a web with this end overlapping the beginning of the next train bitumen strips the latter in the bitumen-free Strips of the former come to rest.
Thus, according to the invention, in the overlapping area, the lower-side bitumen strips of a subsequent web are zipper-like between the upper-side, bitumen-free strips of the already laid web. As a result, it is easier to achieve even with less careful work that the respective head joints of successive tracks are waterproof. At the usual, aligned in the longitudinal direction alignment of successive tracks of the inventive offset of the lower side bitumen strip over the top bitumen strip changes nothing.
The top side and / or the bottom side bitumen strips preferably cover respectively 40% to 60% of the area of the top side or the underside of the roofing membrane.
The bituminous strips can have a width between 5 mm and 150 mm.
Preferably, at least the top or bottom bitumen strips have spaced interruptions, and the bitumen-free strips on either side of each bitumen strip communicate with each other through these discontinuities. This allows a vapor pressure equalization, sometimes only on the underside, only on the top or on both sides of the laid tracks. However, these interruptions do not affect the watertight connection of the head joints.
Advantageously, the interruptions of adjacent bitumen strips are offset by more than the length of the overlap of two consecutive tracks in the longitudinal direction against each other, so that, for example, another, applied to the web sealing layer no or at least not continuous Lowering shows how they can arise without the offset of the breaks. At the same time, the offset of the interruptions by more than the overlap length ensures that the bitumen strips intermeshing in the top of the head have no gaps in the transverse direction.
As a rule, the roofing membrane is provided at least on the upper side or underside, usually on both sides with a fusible or removable plastic film, in particular if the bitumen strips consist of cold-bonding bitumen.
The surfaces of the top side and / or the bottom side bitumen strips facing away from the carrier layer may have a groove profile. The latter facilitates the removal of the plastic film before or during installation either by peeling or by Abflämmen.
The at least one carrier layer generally comprises a tension-resistant insert made of an at least single-layer fleece, grid or fabric. The fleece, mesh or fabric is either impregnated with bitumen or embedded in a polymeric plastic. Depending on the intended use of the roofing sheet, further functional layers, e.g. a coated metal foil, applied on one or both sides.
As mentioned above, the bitumen-free strips may have a superficial mineral dispersion on the carrier layer, alternatively consist of a layer of a plastic polymer.
The bitumen of the bituminous strips can be cold-bonding or heat-activatable (also in the sense of weldable). Roofing membranes of the present type are normally laid in several parallel paths, wherein the longitudinal edges of adjacent webs overlap in a scaly manner. For this purpose, the roofing membrane has a continuous, top-side edge strips of bitumen with a width corresponding to the prescribed overlap width of adjacent webs on one longitudinal edge and a continuous, underside edge strip without bitumen on the other longitudinal edge.

Each of the webs comprises a cross-hatched,
On the upper side and underside, the webs I, II and III on the carrier layer spaced apart, raised
In order to achieve a watertight connection in the region of the head joint between the webs I and II, even if not very careful laying, the top
Optionally, the bitumen strips have spaced longitudinally staggered
In
The webs I and II (and also III) have at their one longitudinal edge, here the left longitudinal edge, the upper side a
