L'invention concerne un appareil médical (112) qui permet d'exécuter au moins une fonction médicale, en particulier un appareil médical (112) réalisé sous la forme d'un appareil à main. L'appareil médical (112) est destiné à coopérer avec au moins un consommable médical (122) pour exécuter la fonction médicale. L'appareil médical (112) présente au moins un lecteur de code (142) qui lit au moins une information d'un code optique (138) du consommable médical (122). Le lecteur de code (142) comprend au moins un capteur d'image (156). Le lecteur de code (142) comprend en outre au moins une source de lumière plane (161) qui est destinée à éclairer le code optique (138) par transmission.
