Definitions
- connection element for making electrical contact with a plug-in contact insertable into the connection element, which comprises a base part surrounding at least one contact spring arm and a spring surrounding the base part at least in the region of the contact spring arm and acting on the contact spring arm with a spring force.
- connection elements are basically known and are used for example in motor vehicles, where they are often exposed to vibrations.
- US 5,938,485 A discloses a connection element for electrically contacting a plug-in contact insertable into the connector base with a contact spring arm having base and a base part in the contact spring arm surrounding spring, wherein the devisfederarm has a contact area for contacting the inserted plug contact and in the contact area three transverse to the insertion direction to each other comprises spaced arm segments, wherein in the US 5,938,485 A the three arm segments are equally formed to engage with the inserted plug contact.
- the invention has for its object to provide a connection element for making electrical contact with a plug-in contact plug-in connector, which - especially under the influence of vibration - allows a permanent reliable contact with the inserted plug contact.
- connection element with the features of claim 1 is provided.
- connection element not only has a base part which has at least one contact spring arm and which is responsible for the actual contacting of the plug-in contact, but additionally has a spring surrounding the base part at least in the area of the contact spring arm and acting on the contact spring arm with a spring force.
- the additional arrangement of the over-spring allows an at least approximately separate optimization of the electrical contact properties of the connection element on the one hand and the mechanical contact properties, i. the base part can be designed for maximum electrical conductivity, while the over-spring ensures that the contact spring arm of the base part always bears against the inserted plug contact with a predetermined contact pressure.
- the base part and the over-spring are formed as separate parts, which may have different materials.
- the base part may be made of a copper material, while the over-spring is formed of a spring steel.
- the contact spring arm has two contact areas for making contact with an inserted plug-in contact, which are spaced apart from one another in the plug-in direction. So there is a front and a rear contact area, as a front contact area Here the contact area is referred to, which is closer to an insertion opening of the connection element, via which the plug contact is inserted into the connection element. The rear contact area is accordingly further away from the insertion opening. Due to the formation of two contact areas, the effective contact area between the base part and inserted plug contact is increased and the resulting contact resistance is correspondingly reduced.
- the over-spring engages in an engagement region with the contact arm, which is located in the insertion direction between the contact areas.
- the male plug contact when inserted into the terminal element, the male plug contact initially engages with the front contact area of the contact spring arm, whereby a front portion of the contact spring arm extending from the engagement area to the front contact area is deflected outwards. A rear portion of the contact spring arm extending from the engagement portion to the rear contact portion moves slightly inward in this situation, and the over-spring engaged with the contact spring arm acts as a fulcrum.
- This "yielding" of the rearmaschinefederarmabites results in that for the bending of the front Dodgefederarmabites a smaller force is required, so that the insertion of the plug contact with reduced effort is possible.
- connection element according to the invention is able to accommodate plug contacts of different thicknesses, for example in the range of 0.6 mm to 0.8 mm, and to reliably contact them.
- the contact spring arm comprises, in a section facing away from the insertion opening, three arm segments spaced apart from one another transversely to the insertion direction.
- the middle arm segment is more bulged or bent relative to the two outer arm segments in order to engage with an inserted plug contact, i. the middle arm segment forms the rear contact area.
- At least one of the contact regions of the contact spring arm in particular the contact region closer to the insertion opening of the connection element, ie, the front contact region, can comprise two contact points spaced transversely to the plug direction.
- point here is not to be understood in the geometric sense, but rather denotes an area with a certain areal extent.
- the contact spring arm can thereby better adapt to an inserted plug contact, which ultimately an even more reliable mechanical and electrical contact of the inserted plug contact is achieved.
- the base part comprises two contact spring arms to contact an inserted plug contact on opposite sides.
- the inserted plug contact is resiliently mounted on both sides in the connection element, and the connection between plug contact and connection element becomes even more insensitive to vibrations, i. an even more reliable contact is achieved.
- the contact spring arms and the over-spring are formed with respect to a central plane of the connecting element substantially mirror-symmetrical.
- the center plane is here referred to that plane in which extends the inserted into the connection element plug contact. Due to the symmetry a more uniform distribution of forces is achieved, which contributes to the reliable mechanical and electrical contacting of the plug contact.
- a spacer device is provided to the contact spring arms when not plugged plug contact to keep in a predetermined minimum distance from each other.
- the spacer device facilitates the insertion of a plug-in contact in the connection element, since the forces required for the first spreading of the contact spring arms are reduced by the already existing minimum distance between the contact spring arms.
- the spacer means may for example be formed by lateral tabs of the contact spring arms, which are positioned and bent towards each other so that their free ends abut against each other when not plugged plug contact.
- the spacer device is arranged in the region of the engagement region in which the over-spring is in engagement with the contact spring arms. In this way, those by the over-spring forces exerted on the contact spring arms are optimally absorbed by the spacer device, and undesired deformation of the contact spring arms is avoided.
- the over-spring for acting on the or each devisfederarms each comprise a spring arm, which is taken from the insertion inwardly.
- the bias can be adjusted, which exerts the over-spring on the contact spring arms.
- connection element proves to be particularly simple and inexpensive, if it is in the base part and the over-spring each a stamped and bent part. Alternatively, of course, only one of these parts may be formed as a stamped and bent part.
- the over-spring is a stamped and bent part, then the over-spring advantageously comprises a locking mechanism in order to lock it in a final state bent around the base part.
- the over-spring can be fixed by means of a fixing mechanism to the base part, wherein the fixing preferably comprises at least one inwardly turned tab of the over-spring, which engages in a correspondingly provided in the base opening.
- the over-spring may comprise at least one tab and preferably two opposing tabs, which is taken from the insertion inwards or are.
- the tab (s) forms or form a guide for the plug-in contact to be inserted in the area the insertion and thus facilitate the insertion of the plug contact in the connection element.
- connection element shown in the figures is composed of a base part 10 and an over-spring 12. Both the base part 10 and the over-spring 12 are formed as a stamped and bent part, wherein the base part 10 is made of a material which has a particularly good electrical conductivity, such as a copper material, while the over-spring 12 is formed of a material having particularly good mechanical spring properties , such as spring steel.
- the connecting element is used for electrical contacting of a plug contact, not shown, which can be inserted via an insertion opening 14 in a receiving space 16 of the connecting element.
- the end of the terminal element where the insertion opening 14 is located is referred to herein as the front end, whereas the opposite end is referred to as the rear end.
- the terms "front” and “rear” are used accordingly for other parts of the connection element.
- the base member 10 has two opposing and substantially identically formed contact spring arms 18, the free front ends 20 point in the direction of the insertion opening 14 and which emerge at their rear ends of a substantially parallelepiped portion 22 of the base member 10.
- the cuboidal section 22 in turn merges into a crimping section 24 of the base part 10, which makes it possible to connect the connecting element with an electrical line, such as a wire, firmly.
- the contact spring arms 18 are biased toward each other and each have two laterally projecting and in the direction of each other Maisfederarms 18 bent side tabs 26 which are positioned and dimensioned such that the side flaps 26 of a Mixfederarms not plugged in male contact 18 to the side flaps 26 of abut other Whyfederarms 18 to hold the contact spring arms 18 at a predetermined minimum distance from each other, which facilitates the insertion of a plug-in contact.
- Each contact spring arm 18 has a seen in the insertion direction in front of the side flaps 26 located front portion 28 and one in the insertion direction seen behind the side flaps 26 located rear portion 30.
- the front section 28 comprises two arms segments 32, which are spaced apart from each other transversely to the direction of insertion, and which are curved or bulged respectively in the direction of the respective other contact spring arm 18 in order to form a respective front contact point 34.
- each devise 30 of each devisfederarms 18 comprises three viewed transversely to the insertion direction spaced apart arm segments 36, 38, which are also bent in the direction of the respective other Maisfederarms 18.
- the middle arm segment 36 is more bulged relative to the two outer arm segments 38 in order to engage with an inserted plug contact.
- the middle arm segment 36 thus forms a rear contact point 40.
- the over-spring 12 has a substantially cuboid shape and surrounds the base part 10 in the region of the contact spring arms 18 and the cuboid portion 22 (FIGS. Fig. 1 and 5 ).
- the over-spring 12 On an upper side 42 and a lower side 44, the over-spring 12 has outwardly angled locking springs 46, which allow a locking of the connecting element in a housing, not shown.
- the over-spring 12 on opposite narrow sides 48 each have two fixing lugs 50 which are turned inwards and engage in the cuboid portion 22 of the base member 10 correspondingly provided fixing openings 52 to fix the over-spring 12 to the base member 10 and in particular against displacement secure in plug-in direction.
- the over-spring 12 also has two inwardly hammered guide tabs 54, which not only facilitate the insertion of a plug contact, but also protect the front ends 20 of the contact spring arms 18 from damage by the inserted plug contact.
- the over-spring 12 is a stamped and bent part, which is subsequently folded around the base part 10.
- a closure is provided which comprises a closure opening 56 arranged in the front region of the over-spring 12 and a closure flap 58 adapted thereto, which engages in the closure opening 56 in order to hold the over-spring 12 together ( Fig. 1 ).
- Essential elements of the over-spring are two spring arms 60 which, starting from the upper side 42 or underside 44 of the over-spring 12, are turned inwards from the insertion opening 14 and which act on the contact spring arms 18 with a predetermined spring force ( Fig. 3 to 5 ).
- the spring arms 60 are for this purpose in the region of the side flaps 26 with the contact spring arms 18 in engagement, which is why this area is also referred to here as the engagement portion 62.
- the plug-in contact If the plug-in contact is further inserted into the connecting element, it also engages with the rear contact points 40 of the contact spring arms, as a result of which the rear sections 30 of the contact spring arms 18 are also pressed apart, ie outwards. Since the front portions 28 of the contact spring arms 18 are already in engagement with the plug contact in this situation, they can not yield when the rear portions 30 are pushed apart, so that the contact spring arms 18 now exert an increased spring force on the plug contact, which results in an increased insertion force (see section B of the Fig. 6 shown force curve).
- the fully inserted into the terminal plug contact is in a variety of points with the connection element in contact, namely at two upper and two lower front contact points 34 and at each of an upper and lower rear contact point 40, whereby the effective contact area is increased overall.
- Due to the engagement of the over-spring 12 with the contact spring arms 18 in the engaged between the front and rear contact points 34 and 40 engagement portions 62 is also the contact force exerted by the contact spring arms 18 on the inserted plug contact, significantly increased, whereby a reliable and in particular insensitive to vibration contacting the inserted plug contact is permanently guaranteed.

Description

Fig. 1 ; und - Fig. 6
Fig. 1 einzuführen.
Fig. 1 und5 ).
Fig. 1 ).
Fig. 3 bis 5 ). Abschnitt A des in
Fig. 6 dargestellten Kraftverlaufs).
Fig. 6 gezeigten Kraftverlaufs).
