Definitions
- the present invention relates more particularly to a siren intended to equip a motor vehicle and intended to emit a powerful sound when said vehicle is the object of a break-in.
- siren This type of siren is well known, for example from the document EP1502830 which discloses a siren having a housing which is defined by an axial wall, a bottom wall, and a cover closing an opening opposite to the bottom wall, and which contains an electronic board, a battery pack, a set sound production, and electrical connection means between the various components of the siren.
- the siren is equipped with an electrical connector which is arranged in the bottom wall of the housing, which extends generally in an axial direction, and which is electrically connected to the electronic card.
- the electrical connector is provided to allow the electrical connection of the siren to an external control circuit provided to trigger the siren in case of break-in.
- the current structure of the sirens generally requires that the housing is parallelepipedic and a relatively large thickness which poses congestion problems when it is desired to arrange it in a vehicle.
- this type of siren is relatively sensitive to burglary attempts which requires wrapping them in an outer case shielded, as is the case in the document EP1502830 .
- This shielding is particularly expensive and penalizing the weight, while vehicle manufacturers seek to gain weight on all components.
- the present invention aims to solve these problems by proposing a simple and economical solution.
- the invention proposes a siren intended to equip a motor vehicle, comprising a housing which is delimited by an axial wall, by a bottom wall, and by a lid closing an opening opposite to the wall. base, and which contains an electronic card, a battery pack, a set of sound production, and electrical connection means between the various components of the siren, the siren being equipped with an electrical connector which is electrically connected to the electronic card, the electrical connector extending generally in an axial direction, characterized in that the electrical connector is arranged outside the housing, and in that it extends substantially parallel along the axial wall of the case.
- the siren according to the invention provides a particularly compact housing which facilitates its arrangement in the vehicle, particularly in the engine compartment of the vehicle where the available space is very limited.
- connection end of the connector is oriented on the same side as the opening of the housing.
- the housing has a radial extension extending from the bottom wall to the outside, and the connector is arranged on the outer free end of the radial extension.
- the electrical connection means comprise conductive tabs which are overmolded in the bottom wall of the housing so as to electrically connect the connector to the electronic card.
- Electrical connection means may also comprise elastic conductive blades which are overmolded in the bottom wall of the housing so as to electrically connect the battery to the electronic card and to maintain the battery in the housing.
- the electrical connection means comprise force mounting pads which are provided to cooperate with complementary orifices arranged in the electronic card to retain it in the housing. It is thus possible to fix the electronic card by simple axial translation inside the casing without it being necessary to provide other devices for fixing the card, and these force-fitting studs are particularly simple to produce by molding with the bottom wall of the housing.
- the sound production assembly comprises a membrane associated with an electrical excitation means controlled by the electronic card, and the membrane is mounted clamped between the cover and the housing.
- the electrical excitation means can be connected to the electronic card by a surface mount technology which simplifies the assembly and electrical connection operations.
- the axial wall of the housing is generally cylindrical.
- Such a housing offers better guarantees against attempts of violation by reducing the angles of attack and is particularly compact.
- the manufacturing method according to the invention is particularly simple since all the parts can be successively assembled by axial insertion into the casing without having to return the casing during assembly. In addition, the manufacturing method allows a decrease in the number of parts forming the siren.
- the siren 10 comprises a housing 12 which is intended to receive the various components of the siren 10, in particular an electronic card 14, a battery 16, and a sound production assembly 18.
- the battery 16 has been shown here in the form of a cylindrical cell.
- the housing 12 is formed of a substantially cylindrical axial wall 20 which extends here along a vertical axis A1, from a transverse bottom wall 22, to an upper opening 24 which is closed by a lid 26.
- Electrical connection means 28 are arranged in the bottom wall 22 of the housing 12 for the purpose of electrically connecting the various components of the siren 10 and for connecting the electronic card 14 to an electrical connector 30.
- the electrical connector 30 is offset radially outside the axial wall 20 of the housing 12 and extends generally in an axial direction parallel to the axis of the housing 12. It is noted that the general direction of the connector 30 corresponds generally to the connection direction, that is to say to the direction of insertion of the complementary connector.
- the housing 12 comprises an arm 32 which extends radially from the bottom wall 22 towards the outside and which constitutes a support for the connector 30, as shown in detail on the Figures 3 to 6 .
- the connector 30 is here of the female type. It comprises an axial skirt 34 of oblong section which extends from a lower axial end 36, arranged on the upper face 38 of the arm 32, to an opening 40 at its upper axial end, or connection end, allowing the insertion of a male connector (not shown) belonging to the electronic circuit of the vehicle. External axial plugs 42 of electrical connection are arranged inside the axial skirt 34. These axial plugs 42 are connected to the electrical connection means 28 as will be seen later.
- the height of the axial skirt 34 which determines the maximum axial size of the connector 30, is substantially less than or equal to the height of the axial wall 20 of the housing 12, which makes it possible to minimize the axial thickness of the siren 10.
- the electrical connection means 28 comprise conductive tongues 44 which are overmolded in the bottom wall 22 of the housing 12 so as to electrically connect the connector 30 to the electronic card 14.
- Each tab conductive 44 is here made of metal by cutting and folding. It comprises here a first vertical section which forms an external axial plug 42 of the connector 30, a transverse intermediate section 46 which connects the external axial plug 42 to an internal axial plug 48 formed by a second vertical section which extends from the bottom 22 through the electronic card 14.
- the electrical connection means 28 also comprise elastic conductive blades 50 which are overmolded in the bottom wall 22 of the housing 12 so as to electrically connect the battery 16 to the electronic card 14 and to hold the battery 16 in the housing 12
- each conductive blade 50 comprises a first vertical section 52 which is provided to bear elastically against one end of the battery 16 and a second vertical section 54 which constitutes an internal axial plug similar to that of the conductive tabs 44, this second vertical section 54 extending from the bottom wall 22 through the electronic card 14.
- the electronic card 14 is mounted axially in the housing 12, over the electrical connection means 28, bearing axially against associated bearing surfaces 56 formed by molding on the bottom wall 22 of the housing 12.
- the bottom wall 22 also includes holding clips 58 made integrally with the bottom wall 22, which allow the electronic card 14 to be retained axially in the housing 12.
- the internal axial plugs 54, 48 may be provided with a free fixing end 60 forming a force-mounting stud, as shown in FIG. figure 3 , which cooperates with an orifice 62 of the electronic card 14 to allow a force fitting of the electronic card 14 on the pins 54, 48.
- the electronic card 14 is connected to the connector 30 so as to exchange electrical signals with an electronic system (not shown) for monitoring the state of the vehicle. More particularly, the electronic card 14 receives triggering control signals of the siren 10. In response, the electronic card 14 generates an electrical signal in the direction of an electromechanical element for producing sound vibrations belonging to the production assembly of the his 18.
- the sound production assembly 18 can be assembled beforehand on the cover 26 at means of a fixing ring which pinches the membrane against the outer peripheral edge 70.
- the electrical excitation means 66 is arranged between the membrane 64 and the upper face of the electronic card 14 and is connected to the electronic card 14 by surface mount technology. More particularly, the electrical excitation means 66 comprises contact springs 74 which extend towards the electronic card 14 and which are designed to bear resiliently against contact pads 76 arranged axially vis-a-vis the electronic card 14, so as to make the electrical connection of the electrical excitation means 66 with the electronic card 14.
- This electrical connection solution is similar to a technology for mounting electronic components called surface mount technology or "surface mounted technology”.
- the electrical excitation means 66 could be connected to the electronic card 14 by another method, for example by means of an electrical connection wire soldered to the electronic card 14 or the contact springs 74 could be welded to the electronic board 14 and the contact pads 76 would be arranged on the electrical excitation means 66.
- the cover 26 here comprises a series of holes 78 which are arranged in two rings near the peripheral edge 70. These holes 78 are intended to allow adequate propagation of the sound produced by the membrane 18 when it is excited. Similarly, the profile of the cover 26 in its central part is adapted to optimize the propagation of sound and the sound level.
- a threaded shaft 80 is overmolded in the bottom wall 22 of the housing 12 and has a lower section which extends axially outwardly of the housing 12 to allow the attachment of the siren 10 by screwing on the vehicle.
- the electrical connection means 28, including the conductive tabs 44, the external axial plugs 42, the internal axial plugs 48, 54, and the elastic conductive blades 50 are interconnected before their positioning in the mold of manufacturing the housing 12 and form a leadframe ("leadframe").
- This connecting grid formed by cutting and folding from an electrically conductive metal sheet, facilitates the assembly of the various elements since they form a single piece.
- the superfluous material bridges 82 are sectioned so as to make the electrical connection means 28 operational.
- connection grid forming the electrical connection means 28 is made beforehand as mentioned above. It is then placed in the manufacturing mold of the housing 12 with the threaded spindle 80. The plastic material forming the housing 12 is then injected into the mold so as to overmold the connection grid and the threaded shaft in the bottom wall. 22 of the housing 12, then superfluous material bridges 82 are cut and removed.
- the molding of the housing 12 does not require a mold with drawers, demolding can thus be performed at one time.
- the battery 16 is first mounted in its housing formed in the bottom wall 22 and retained in position by the elastic blades 50. Then the electronic card 14 is mounted in the housing 12 over the battery 16 and held in position by the holding clips 58 and / or the inner axial plugs 48, 54. The sound production assembly 18 is then mounted with the cover 26 on the housing 12 to close it. During this mounting step, the contact springs 74 make the electrical connection with the associated contact pads 76 by elastic support.
