Definitions
- the invention relates to a 3D container (D for dimension) comprising a rigid frame, a deformable container and a functional means for processing the contents, including an internal member inside the container, specially designed for transporting, storing or treatment of biopharmaceutical fluids.
- the invention also relates to an assembly comprising such a container and a rigid support adapted to ensure its maintenance.
- the pocket comprises two foldable plastic films and a semi-rigid frame having a central opening, the two films being welded to the two large faces of the semi-rigid frame, the wall of which is traversed by the ports of enter exit.
- the invention does not relate to containers or 2D pockets.
- Document FR-A-2 781 202 describes a container having two large walls and two lateral bellows. Each bellows comprises two small walls connected to each other by an inner fold and each small wall is connected to the adjacent large wall by an outer fold.
- Such a container once deployed, takes a three-dimensional shape (cylindrical, prismatic, parallelepipedic ...) and can have a volume of 50 liters or more, which justifies that it is called 3D.
- US-A-2006/0131765 discloses a bioreactor container for receiving fluid content.
- This container comprises a flexible or non-rigid portion and a rigid portion.
- the container is open or closed hermetically and includes one or more input / output ports.
- the rigid portion forms a wafer and includes a protuberance located in the container.
- the rigid portion serves as a support for an internal member for processing the contents of the container, such as a mixing member or an aerator.
- Such an embodiment has the disadvantage that a solid internal member and a certain size, more or less simple or tormented shape (sharp or sharp edge), rigid or not, fixed or movable, can damage the flexible part made in plastic film if they come in contact with each other.
- US-B2-6494613 discloses a mixing container for receiving content in the fluid state.
- This container comprises a flexible bag and a sheath or flexible tube through the wall of the bag hermetically and housed in the bag.
- a substantially rigid rod of predetermined shape is placed in the sheath or tube and protrudes from the bag. It is driven by a motor.
- Such an embodiment has the disadvantage of being complex and limited in scope, for example unsuited to the case of a functional means for treating the contents of the container, such as a means of mixing, aeration, measurement (collection) data, pumping.
- collapsible containers of the type comprising one or more rigid frames and a wall attached to this - or these - frames (see for example the document US-A-2008/0011759).
- such containers are not adapted to be able to constitute sterile, single-use, 3D containers for biopharmaceutical fluids, to receive functional means for treating the contents of the container, such as a means of mixing, aeration, measuring (collecting) data, pumping.
- DE-A-1 301 970 discloses a container comprising a container having a flexible side wall having an open free edge, deformable so as to be in two extreme states, respectively folded flat on itself and deployed in volume and one or a plurality of rigid, hollow frames comprising a transverse opening delimited by a peripherally closed lateral wall on itself to which the open free edge of the side wall is secured.
- An upper rigid frame and a lower rigid frame have a transverse wall opposite the transverse opening.
- An intermediate rigid frame has two opposite transverse openings.
- the upper rigid frame has in its transverse wall a filling orifice and a vent.
- Such a container is not intrinsically suitable for the transport, storage or treatment of biopharmaceutical fluids when it is necessary to provide in the container itself, the presence of one or more solid organs and a certain bulk, of more or less simple or tormented forms (with sharp or sharp edges), rigid or not, fixed or mobile, in particular belonging to the group comprising rods, shafts, propellers or mixing devices, aerators, ducts ...
- Containers of large capacity are also known but which are not adapted to the case of biopharmaceutical fluids and do not provide for the presence in the container of one or more organs such as those just mentioned (JP-A-04072187, DE-U-20 2006 003 886 and EP-A-0 559 337).
- sterile disposable 3D containers typically for the biopharmaceutical field, intended to contain biopharmaceutical fluids, which are flexible - at least in part, of great capacity - in order to be able to replace the traditional rigid tanks, and which can integrate functional means for processing the contents of the container, for example a means of mixing, aeration, measurement (collection) of data, pumping.
- 3D containers of this type which, moreover, are easy to achieve, at an acceptable cost in view of their use, easy in their logistics management, particularly because of their versatility, and finally free of risk of damage during storage or transport, as a result of the presence in the container itself of one or more solid organs and of a certain size, of more or less simple or tormented forms (in particular with pointed or sharp edges), rigid or not, fixed or mobile, such as those belonging to the group comprising rods, shafts, propellers or mixing members, aerators, ducts ...

- the side wall 4 is arranged in accordion, here folded.
- a port 9a, 9b, 9c is an integral part of the frame 2, having come from manufacture, here, with its side wall 4.
- the two containers 8a, 8b are, in the first embodiment of Figures 1 to 3, completely deformable. They communicate with the internal space 3 of the frame 2, by their two openings 15, coinciding with the two transverse openings 5 of the frame 2.
- a container 8 - when empty of its contents - can be folded flat on itself and against the adjoining side edge 14 of the frame 2, on the side of the transverse opening 5 to which the container 8 is associated.
- the container 1 before use for example during storage before use, or during transport.
- the internal member 11 is entirely housed or substantially housed in the internal space 3 and it follows that this internal member 11, even solid and of a certain size, more or less simple or tormented shape (including edged or sharp edge), rigid or not, fixed or mobile does not risk damaging the constituent film containers 8a, 8b, even when the container 1 is folded ( Figure 1).
- the side wall 4 also acts as a spacer between the internal member 11 of the processing functional means 10 and the constituent film of a container 8.
- the container 8 When necessary, the container 8 may be deployed in volume, on the side of the transverse opening 5 to which the container 8 is associated. This is the case when the container 1 must be receiving its contents or the constituents of its contents ( Figure 2).
- the frame 2 is opaque. This constructive arrangement is particularly suitable for the case of functional means 10 - more specifically internal organs 11 - capable of being sensitive to light, such as photosensitive sensors.
- the frame 2 comprises, on one side and the other of the lateral wall 4, two transverse openings 5, as in the first embodiment, but it also comprises a transverse wall median 17 located between the two transverse openings 5 and having with the side wall 4 a tight connection.
- the wall 17 is called median because it is located between the two transverse openings 5.
- This middle wall 17, solid may, depending on the variants, be rigid and in this case flat or curved otherwise - which allows for example to form a functional cavity - or any other form more or less complex desired. It can, according to other embodiments, be deformable and in this case extensible or otherwise inextensible.
- the side wall 4 of the frame 2 is formed of two lateral sub-walls 4a and 4b, one associated with each of the two transverse openings 5.
- the frame 2 thus forms two subframes 2a , 2b, back to back.
- Such a frame 2 is thus especially intended for the production of a container 1, closed or open, comprising, in addition to the frame 2, the two containers 8a, 8b which here - and unlike the first embodiment previously described - are without communication one with the other, being separated by the full median transverse wall 17.
- These two containers 8a, 8b are located on either side of the frame 2, as before, this frame being arranged in the middle position.
- the frame 2 may have, in total, an axial dimension double that of the frame 2 according to the first embodiment.
- Such a frame 2 with two subframes 2a, 2b defines two internal spaces 3a, 3b, which are not in communication with each other, being separated by the median transverse wall 16.
- the side wall 4 and the median transverse wall 17 form an integral part of the frame 2, having been manufactured together or assembled later.
- the frame 2 comprises, on one side and the other of the lateral wall 4, respectively, a transverse opening 5 and an end transverse wall 18.
- a frame 2 is thus specially for the production of a container 1, comprising, in addition to the frame 2, a single container 8 located on the side of the frame 2 where the transverse opening 5 is located, that is to say the opposite of the transverse end wall 18.
- the wall 18 is termed end because it is adjacent to the edge 14 of the opposite side to the transverse opening 5 of the frame 2.
- This end wall 18 may, depending on the variants, be rigid and in this case flat or curved otherwise - which allows for example to form a functional cavity - or any other form more or less complex desired. It can, according to other variants, be deformable and in this case expandable or otherwise inextensible.
- its connection with the side wall 4 of the frame 2 is either a rigid connection, especially when these walls 17, 18 are themselves. rigid, or a flexible connection.
- the transverse end wall 18 is also able to support or include one or more through connection ports 9a and / or non-through connection ports 9b and / or input / output ports 9c similar to those previously described in relation to the side wall 4 of the frame 2.
- One or such ports are added or substitute - in all or part only - the port or ports provided on the side wall 4 of the frame 2 and previously described.
- One or such ports 9a, 9b, allow the maintenance of an inner member 1 1 fully housed in the space 3.
- the side wall 4 and the transverse end wall 18 form an integral part of the frame 2, having been manufactured together or assembled later.
- the container 1 instead of the container 1 according to this third embodiment comprises a single container 8 located on the side of the frame 2 where the transverse opening 5 is located, it can be provided, according to a variant of this third embodiment (not shown) that the container 1 comprises in addition to this container 8 - constituting a "first" container -, a "second" containing, at least partially deformable, located on the side of the frame 2 where the transverse wall is located end 18. The open free edge 6 of the side wall of this second container is secured, in a sealed manner, around the transverse end wall 18.
- the container 1 comprises two containers 8a, 8b, they are either identical or similar or different, especially by their capabilities.
- a container 8 is integrally deformable, being made in the form of a bag or bag of plastic film arranged accordion.
- one of the two containers in this case the upper container 8b, is only partially deformable, being made in the form of a sheath or sleeve.
- plastic film in accordion, as just described, and in part non-deformable, including a rigid portion 19 in the form of a plate, located opposite the frame 2 of the container 1.
- the rigid portion 19 may be constituted by a transverse end wall 18 or by a median transverse wall 17 forming part of a second frame 2 of the general type previously described.
- the container 1 then comprises two frames 2, one median and one end and two containers 8.
- the two spaces 3a and 3b together form a large space 3a + 3b, being in communication with each other.
- the two frames 2a, 2b are identical or not. Each of these two frames 2a, 2b has a transverse end wall 18. These two frames 2a, 2b are connected by a generally cylindrical sheath of deformable plastic film arranged accordion.
- Frame 2 is placed at the lower end and not at the upper end.
- the transverse end wall 18 of the frame 2 supports or includes a non-through connection port 9b, such as a pin, receiving the internal member 1 1, in this case a mixing member and also a port of input / output 9c.
- a non-through connection port 9b such as a pin, receiving the internal member 1 1, in this case a mixing member and also a port of input / output 9c.
- the non-through connection port 9b and the input / output port 9c just mentioned, extend along an axial direction, in this case vertical.
- the side wall 4 of the frame 2 supports or includes two input / output ports 9c.
- the container 8 is arranged with foldable gussets.
- the inner member 11 is housed in an inner space (3a + 3b) formed by the two internal spaces (3a and 3b) opposite two frames (2a, 2b) vis-à-vis.
- the transverse end wall 18 of the frame 2a at the lower end supports or includes a non-through connection port 9b, such as a pin, receiving the internal member 1 1, in this case a mixing member and an input / output port 9c.
- a non-through connection port 9b such as a pin, receiving the internal member 1 1, in this case a mixing member and an input / output port 9c.
- the side wall 4 of the frame 2a placed at the lower end is devoid of ports.
- the end transverse wall 18 of the frame 2b placed at the upper end supports or includes an input / output port 9c.
- the side wall 4 of the frame 2b placed at the upper end is devoid of ports.
- All ports - non-through connection 9b as input / output 9c - extend along an axial direction, in this case vertically.
- the container 8 is arranged with foldable gussets.
- FIGS. 12, 13 and 14 A variant of the variant which has just been described in relation to FIGS. 10 and 11 is shown in FIGS. 12, 13 and 14 and differs in the following features:
- the container 8 has a side wall 7 located transversely of the envelope that forms the side wall of the frames at the lower and upper ends.
- the frame 2 placed at the bottom end has two input / output ports.
- the constructive arrangement according to which the internal member 11 is housed in an internal space (3a + 3b) formed by the two internal spaces (3a and 3b) opposite two frames (2a, 2b) facing each other makes it possible to take advantage of the presence of a frame 2a, 3b at each of the two ends of the container 1, while avoiding that the 2a of the frames which is associated with the inner member 1 1 has an axial size at least equal to that of the inner member 11, with the effect of increasing the axial size of the folded container 1, as shown in Figure 14.
- the axial dimension H to be taken into account is that of the internal space 3a + 3b.
- the invention also relates to a container 1, as just described, whose - or - containers 8 contain a - or biopharmaceutical fluids.
- the invention also relates to an assembly comprising on the one hand a container 1 as just described and on the other hand a rigid support (not shown) capable of ensuring the maintenance of the container 1.
- Such a rigid support comprises, in a typical embodiment, a lower transverse rigid wall and an erected axial lateral peripheral rigid wall, limiting an upper transverse access opening to a housing defined the internal faces of the lower and lateral walls, adapted to receive the container 1, the container 8 filled with the biopharmaceutical fluid coming to bear against these internal faces.
- a container 1 as described may have a volume between 1 liter and 3,500 liters.
