Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for operating an attachment for a vacuum cleaner according to the preamble of claim 1. It also relates to an attachment which is particularly suitable for carrying out the method.
  • attachments for vacuum cleaners are generally known. These are attachments with an electrically rotatable bristle roller and a motor to drive it, which z. B. be used for vacuuming carpets.
  • the bristle roller usually rotates in one direction during operation; however, methods are also known in which a direction of rotation of this bristle roller is reversed during operation, generally in such a way that the bristle roller always rotates in a direction of movement of the attachment and thus moving the attachment is made easier.
  • Such a method is e.g. B. from the DE 689 05 252 T2 or the EP 1 352 603 A1 famous.
  • an autonomous cleaning device with an electrically rotatable bristle roller and a motor for driving the bristle roller is known.
  • the bristle roller is rotated in an operating direction of rotation during operation. If a blockage of the bristle roller is recognized, it is rotated in a direction of rotation opposite to the operating direction of rotation - reverse direction of rotation.
  • an attachment for a vacuum cleaner which has a bristle roller and a motor to drive it.
  • the vacuum cleaner has a control element that detects a blockage of the bristle roller and sends a blockage signal to the motor.
  • One object of the invention is to provide a method and an attachment provided for carrying out the method with which the removal of objects wound onto the bristle roller is simplified.
  • the advantage of the invention is that objects wound onto the bristle roller are automatically unwound again in this way.
  • a user does not have to pull on the object and does not damage it, for example, by the tensile force that has to be applied against the motor resistance. If z. If, for example, carpet fringes have caught in the bristle roller, the attachment is generally very close to the carpet surface, so that there is little space to free the carpet fringes again by hand. In this case too, turning the bristle roller in the reverse direction ensures that the carpet fringes are released more easily and quickly.
  • the motor is preferably a brushless permanent magnet motor. This is advantageous because the commutator motors required for commutator motors are exposed to high wear and tear, which can lead to malfunctions.
  • sensorless monitoring of the engine z. B. by detecting the power consumption, so that on failure-prone sensors such. B. Hall sensors can be dispensed with.
  • the reversal of the direction of rotation can be achieved in a simple manner known per se by interchanging two phases when using a motor of the bristle roller which is controlled via three phases.
  • the blockage is preferably recognized when the current consumption of the motor exceeds a predefined or predefinable limit value. In this way it can be taken into account that not all surfaces have the same suction conditions. Depending on the surface to be vacuumed, there may be a slight increase in power consumption when vacuuming a carpet that has pile of different lengths or thicknesses. In this case, however, no blockage is recognized if the limit value is set to a higher value that takes such surfaces into account. Thus, the use of the front-end device is not hindered by turning back, which in this case is rather undesirable due to a somewhat stiff surface.
  • the blockage is particularly preferably recognized when the current consumption exceeds the limit value for a predefined or predefinable period of time. This rules out the possibility of a short-term high increase in current consumption, which is caused by a short "Sticking" of the attachment on a surface to be vacuumed can be caused, is evaluated as a blockage and leads to a reverse rotation of the bristle roller. In this case, an inappropriate reverse rotation is prevented and the movement of the attachment is not made even more difficult.
  • the bristle roller when the blockage occurs, the bristle roller is rotated by a predetermined or predeterminable angle of rotation - reverse rotation angle - in the reverse rotation direction. Values in the range from 15 to 360 degrees have proven to be suitable values for the angle of rotation. When turning back by such a turning back angle, it may be prevented that wound objects wind themselves up again if the bristle roller is rotated too far in the opposite direction. In the case of a small reverse rotation angle, such as 15 degrees, the object may not be completely released, but at least loosened so that it can then be removed by pulling gently. In addition, the operating direction of rotation can be resumed more quickly and cleaning can be continued.
  • the motor of the bristle roller is stopped when a blockage occurs and the bristle roller is rotated step by step by a predetermined or predeterminable angle of rotation in the reverse direction by actuating a switching element.
  • the reverse rotation of the bristle roller does not therefore take place automatically, but enables the bristle roller to be rotated back in a manner adapted to the wound object.
  • the switching element can be operated by a user who decides how far the bristle roller should be turned back by actuating the switching element correspondingly often. This makes it easier to loosen longer and / or thin objects that may wind up several times.
  • a speed of rotation of the bristle roller in the reverse direction of rotation is preferably lower than a speed of rotation in the operating direction of rotation. This prevents objects that are being unwound from being rewound in the opposite direction of rotation.
  • the time to start normal operation can be selected by the user.
  • the operator can therefore remove the loosened objects beforehand or place the attachment at a different location so that the objects are not immediately rewound when the bristle roller is operated again.
  • the start button can z. B. be attached directly to the attachment.
  • the bristle roller can be operated on the attachment can also be resumed by the start button by first switching the vacuum cleaner off and then on again using a main switch. In this case, the attachment can do without an additional switch.
  • a signal for resumption of operation in the operating direction of rotation is generated through generator operation.
  • the generator operation of the motor of the bristle roller takes place by pushing the attachment in a certain direction.
  • the friction generated by the contact of the bristle roller with the ground causes the bristle roller to rotate.
  • the motor generates a voltage which can be used as a signal for resuming operation of the bristle roller in the operating direction of rotation. In this way, the cleaning process can be continued quickly and without additional manipulation by the user.
  • the operating direction of rotation of the bristle roller is preferably adapted to a forward or backward movement of the attachment during operation and the reverse direction of rotation is determined as a function of the respective operating direction of rotation.
  • the respective operating direction of rotation can be stored in a control unit of the motor of the bristle roller so that the bristle roller rotates in the correspondingly opposite direction in the event of a blockage.
  • means are provided for detecting a blockage of the bristle roller and for emitting a blockage signal, which can also be referred to as blockage detection means, for reversing the direction of rotation of the motor.
  • a current sensor for measuring a current consumption of the motor of the bristle roller and a monitoring device, which is provided for emitting the blocking signal when the current exceeds a predetermined or predeterminable limit value, are preferably arranged in the attachment. This results in short signal paths when recording the current consumption and forwarding it to the monitoring device, which in turn leads to advantages in terms of EMC and lower costs for cabling, etc.
  • Means for monitoring the presence of the blocking signal for more than a predefined or predeterminable period of time are particularly preferably provided in the attachment. These can e.g. B. from a control unit, which is provided for controlling the engine is to be included.
  • a simple example is a counter that is started by the blocking signal and shows the elapse of the respective time period when it expires.
  • a button as a switching element for, in particular step-by-step, rotating the bristle roller by a predetermined or predeterminable angle of rotation in the reverse direction, e.g. B. on an upper side of the header, is provided.
  • a predetermined or predeterminable angle of rotation in the reverse direction e.g. B. on an upper side of the header.
  • a start button on the attachment e.g. B. on a top, arranged.
  • a generator start-up can take place.
  • the attachment comprises means with which the operating direction of the bristle roller can be reversed during operation, in particular corresponding to a forward and backward movement of the attachment.
  • Moving such an attachment over a surface can be made easier because of the friction with the surface caused by the rotation of the bristle roller, a force supporting the movement arises when the bristle roller rotates in the respective direction of movement. Otherwise, the movement of the attachment in one direction and, depending on the nature of the surface, can be made more difficult to a different extent.
  • FIG. 1 shows a schematically simplified vacuum cleaner 10, which is connected to an attachment 14 via a suction hose 12 and a suction pipe 13.
  • a bristle roller 16 which is electrically rotatable, is arranged on an underside of the attachment 14.
  • Such an attachment 14 is intended primarily for vacuuming carpets.
  • FIG. 2 shows the attachment 14 now schematically greatly simplified in a block diagram.
  • the bristle roller 16 is driven by a motor 18.
  • the motor 18 is z. B. a brushless motor with a permanent magnet as the rotor, which in this embodiment is monitored by a control unit 20 without sensors.
  • the bristle roller 16 rotates in an operating direction of rotation during operation and objects such as. B. pieces of clothing or components of a carpet, caught in the bristle roller 16 and wound onto this, the bristle roller 16 can block.
  • Suitable means for recognizing the blockage - blockage recognition means 22 - recognize the blockage and emit a blockage signal 24, shown here in simplified form as an arrow.
  • the blockage detection means 22 comprise a current sensor 26 and a monitoring device 28.
  • the current sensor 26 detects a current consumption of the motor 18.
  • a coil resistance and a voltage supplying the motor 18 may be dependent.
  • the blocking signal 24 is emitted by the monitoring device 28, e.g. B. to the control unit 20.
  • the control unit 20 comprises means 30 for monitoring a period of time during which the blocking signal 24 is present. If a predetermined or predeterminable period of time is exceeded, the state of the bristle roller 16 is recognized as a blockage and the bristle roller 16 is rotated in a reverse direction which is opposite to the operating direction of rotation. The turning back can either be done automatically immediately upon detection of the blockage, the bristle roller 16 by a predetermined or predeterminable angle of rotation, the z. B.
  • the reverse rotation takes place step by step by pressing a switching element, z. B. a button 32, by a user after the rotation of the bristle roller 16 has been stopped in the operating direction of rotation when a blockage is detected.
  • the bristle roller 16 can be rotated back in any number of steps of, for example, 15 degrees each.
  • the reverse rotation takes place, if necessary, at a lower rotational speed than the rotation of the bristle roller 16 during normal operation. If the blockage is released, ie objects wound onto the bristle roller 16 have been unwound or released, normal operation of the bristle roller 16 can be started by pressing a start button 34, which is located on the attachment 14, e.g. B. on the top, are resumed. It is of course also possible to resume normal operation by turning the vacuum cleaner 10 ( Figure 1 ) and / or the attachment 14 is / are first switched off and then on again via an on / off switch.
  • the bristle roller 16 can be operated as a generator, thereby emitting a signal to resume the operating direction of rotation.
  • the generator operation of the bristle roller 16 is z. B. achieved by sliding the attachment 14 over the surface to be cleaned, the bristle roller 16 is rotated due to friction with the surface.
  • the bristle roller 16 only rotates in one direction during normal operation and that it changes its direction of rotation during operation corresponding to a forward and backward movement of the attachment 14.
  • the attachment 14 or the control unit 20 includes suitable means with which the last active direction of rotation of the bristle roller 16 before a blockage can be determined so that the bristle roller 16 also rotates back in the correspondingly opposite direction.
  • the operating direction of rotation when the cleaning operation is resumed with the bristle roller 16 can then, for. B. be arbitrary. If, however, the resumption is initiated as a generator, the direction of movement of the attachment 14 is recognized by suitable means and the bristle roller 16 is then driven in this direction.
  • suitable means for detecting the blockage and for emitting a blockage signal 24 - blockage detection means 22 - for reversing the direction of rotation of the motor 18 are provided on the front-end device 14.
