  • a smokeless tobacco product wherein the payload of the microcapsules further comprises a sweetener comprising neotame.
  • a smokeless tobacco product wherein the payload of the microcapsules further comprises an additive derived from an herbal or botanical source.
  • a smokeless tobacco product wherein the outer shell of the microcapsules is water-soluble under conditions of at least about 45 weight percent moisture, based on the total weight of the smokeless tobacco product.

Claims (13)

  1. Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Tabakzusammensetzung, welche zur Verwendung als rauchlose Tabakzusammensetzung geeignet ist, umfassend:
    Bereitstellen einer Mischung von Wasser und einem Tabakmaterial in Form einer Aufschlämmung;
    Erwärmen der Mischung bei einer Temperatur und für eine Zeit, die ausreichend sind, um die Mischung zu pasteurisieren;
    Zugabe einer Base zu der Aufschlämmung in einer Menge, die ausreichend ist, um den pH-Wert der Aufschlämmung auf einen alkalischen pH-Wert anzuheben, so dass eine pH-eingestellte Mischung gebildet wird;
    Weitererwärmen der pH-eingestellten Mischung bei einer Temperatur und für eine Zeit, die ausreichend sind, damit der pH-Wert der pH-eingestellten Mischung mindestens ungefähr 0,5 pH-Einheiten fällt, im Anschluss an den Zugabeschritt, um ein behandeltes Tabakmaterial zu bilden; und
    Inkorporieren des behandelten Tabakmaterials in ein rauchloses Tabakprodukt.
  2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, umfassend:
    Bereitstellen einer Aufschlämmung, umfassend Wasser und ein Tabakmaterial, wobei die Aufschlämmung mindestens ungefähr 75 Gew.% Wasser, basierend auf dem Gesamtgewicht der Aufschlämmung, umfasst;
    Erwärmen der Aufschlämmung auf eine Temperatur von mindestens ungefähr 60 °C für eine Zeit, die ausreichend ist, um das Tabakmaterial zu pasteurisieren;
    Zugabe einer Base zu der Aufschlämmung in einer Menge, die ausreichend ist, um den pH-Wert der Aufschlämmung auf mindestens ungefähr 8,5 anzuheben, so dass eine pH-eingestellte Aufschlämmung gebildet wird; und
    Weitererwärmen der pH-eingestellten Aufschlämmung auf eine Temperatur von mindestens ungefähr 60 °C für eine Zeit, die ausreichend ist, damit der pH-Wert der Aufschlämmung mindestens ungefähr 0,5 pH-Einheiten fällt, im Anschluss an den Zugabeschritt.
  3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, ferner umfassend den Schritt des Zugebens eines Salzes zu der Aufschlämmung vor dem Schritt des Erwärmens.
  4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 3, wobei der Schritt des Zugebens eines Salzes umfasst: Zugabe von ungefähr 1 bis ungefähr 5 Gew.% Natriumchlorid, basierend auf dem Trockengewicht des Tabakmaterials.
  5. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 2 bis 4, ferner umfassend: Abkühlen der Aufschlämmung auf eine Temperatur von weniger als ungefähr 35 °C.
  6. Verfahren nach Anspruch 5, umfassend den Schritt des Zugebens eines Feuchthaltemittels während oder nach dem Schritt des Abkühlens.
  7. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 2 bis 6, ferner umfassend den Schritt des Trocknens der Aufschlämmung auf einen Feuchtegehalt von nicht mehr als ungefähr 15 Gew.%, basierend auf dem Gesamtgewicht des getrockneten Tabakmaterials.
  8. Verfahren nach Anspruch 7, ferner umfassend den Schritt des Zugebens von einem oder mehreren Flavour-Agenzien und zusätzlicher Feuchte zu dem getrockneten Tabakmaterial in einer Menge, die ausreichend ist, um den Feuchtegehalt des Tabakmaterials auf mindestens ungefähr 25 Gew.% anzuheben.
  9. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 2 bis 8, wobei der Schritt des Zugebens umfasst: Hinzugeben von ausreichend Base, um den pH-Wert der Aufschlämmung auf mindestens ungefähr 9 anzuheben.
  10. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 8, umfassend:
    Bereitstellen einer Mischung von Wasser, einem Tabakmaterial und einem Salz in Form einer Aufschlämmung;
    Erwärmen der Mischung bei einer Temperatur und für eine Zeit, die ausreichend sind, um das Tabakmaterial zu pasteurisieren;
    Zugabe einer Base zu der Aufschlämmung in einer Menge, die ausreichend ist, um den pH-Wert der Aufschlämmung auf mindestens ungefähr 8,5 anzuheben, so dass eine pH-eingestellte Aufschlämmung gebildet wird; und
    Weitererwärmen der pH-eingestellten Mischung bei einer Temperatur und für eine Zeit, die ausreichend sind, damit der pH-Wert der pH-eingestellten Mischung mindestens ungefähr 0,5 pH-Einheiten fällt, im Anschluss an den Zugabeschritt, um ein behandeltes Tabakmaterial zu bilden.
  11. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 10, umfassend:
    Bereitstellen einer Aufschlämmung, umfassend Wasser und ein Tabakmaterial, wobei die Aufschlämmung mindestens ungefähr 80 Gew.% Wasser, basierend auf dem Gesamtgewicht der Aufschlämmung, umfasst;
    Erwärmen der Aufschlämmung auf eine Temperatur von mindestens ungefähr 70 °C für eine Zeit, die ausreichend ist, um das Tabakmaterial zu pasteurisieren;
    Zugabe einer Base zu der Aufschlämmung in einer Menge, die ausreichend ist, um den pH-Wert der Aufschlämmung auf mindestens ungefähr 9 anzuheben, so dass eine pH-eingestellte Aufschlämmung gebildet wird;
    Weitererwärmen der pH-eingestellten Aufschlämmung auf eine Temperatur von mindestens ungefähr 60 °C für eine Zeit, die ausreichend ist, damit der pH-Wert der Aufschlämmung mindestens ungefähr 0,5 pH-Einheiten fällt, im Anschluss an den Zugabeschritt; und
    Abkühlen der pH-eingestellten Aufschlämmung auf ungefähr Umgebungstemperatur, wobei die pH-eingestellte Aufschlämmung zu der Zeit, zu der der Schritt des Abkühlens beginnt, einen pH-Wert von mindestens ungefähr 8 aufweist.
  12. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 11, umfassend:
    Bereitstellen einer Aufschlämmung, umfassend Wasser und ein Tabakmaterial, wobei die Aufschlämmung mindestens ungefähr 80 Gew.% Wasser, basierend auf dem Gesamtgewicht der Aufschlämmung, umfasst;
    Erwärmen der Aufschlämmung auf eine Temperatur von mindestens ungefähr 70 °C für mindestens ungefähr 30 Minuten;
    Zugabe einer Base zu der Aufschlämmung in einer Menge, die ausreichend ist, um den pH-Wert der Aufschlämmung auf mindestens ungefähr 9,5 anzuheben, so dass eine pH-eingestellte Aufschlämmung gebildet wird;
    Weitererwärmen der pH-eingestellten Aufschlämmung auf eine Temperatur von mindestens ungefähr 60 °C für mindestens ungefähr 1,5 Stunden;
    Abkühlen der pH-eingestellten Aufschlämmung auf ungefähr Umgebungstemperatur, wobei die pH-eingestellte Aufschlämmung zu der Zeit, zu der der Schritt des Abkühlens beginnt, einen pH-Wert von mindestens ungefähr 8 aufweist;
    Zugeben eines Feuchthaltemittels zu der pH-eingestellten Aufschlämmung während oder nach dem Schritt des Abkühlens; und
    Trocknen der pH-eingestellten Aufschlämmung bei einer Temperatur und für eine Zeit, die ausreichend sind, um den Feuchtegehalt des Tabakmaterials auf weniger als ungefähr 15 Gew.% zu senken, basierend auf dem Gewicht des feuchten Tabakmaterials.
  13. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 8, umfassend:
    Bereitstellen einer Aufschlämmung, umfassend Wasser und ein Tabakmaterial;
    Erwärmen der Aufschlämmung auf eine Temperatur von mindestens ungefähr 60 °C für eine Zeit, die ausreichend ist, um das Tabakmaterial zu pasteurisieren;
    Zugabe einer Base zu der Aufschlämmung in einer Menge, die ausreichend ist, um den pH-Wert der Aufschlämmung auf mindestens ungefähr 8,5 anzuheben, so dass eine pH-eingestellte Aufschlämmung gebildet wird;
    Weitererwärmen der pH-eingestellten Aufschlämmung auf eine Temperatur von mindestens ungefähr 60 °C für eine Zeit, die ausreichend ist, damit der pH-Wert der Aufschlämmung mindestens ungefähr 0,5 pH-Einheiten fällt, nach dem Schritt des Zugebens; und
    Abkühlen der Aufschlämmung auf eine Temperatur von weniger als ungefähr 35 °C,
    wobei das Verfahren ferner den Schritt des Zugebens eines Salzes zu der Aufschlämmung vor dem Schritt des Erwärmens oder des Zugebens eines Feuchthaltemittels während oder nach dem Schritt des Abkühlens umfasst.
