- A rail crane for transporting rails, comprising a crane column (8) and, fastened thereon, a crane jib (9) having a trolley (10) which is displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the crane jib (9) by means of a drive (13), the trolley (10) having rollers (11) designed to roll on jib rails (12), a vertically adjustable load chain (16) and a drive pinion (14) in engagement with a rack (15), characterized in that the load chain (16) is positioned at a front end (17) of the trolley (10), spaced from the crane rail (8) with respect to the said longitudinal direction, while the drive pinion (14) is arranged at a rear end (18) positioned nearer to the crane column (8).
- A rail crane according to claim 1, characterized in that an auxiliary jib (21) is fastened at an end (20), spaced from the crane column (8), of the crane jib (9), the auxiliary jib (21) being mounted for displacement in the longitudinal direction of the crane jib (9) and lockable in different displacement positions.
- A rail crane according to claim 2, characterized in that the auxiliary jib (21) has two running rails (26) positioned parallel to the jib rails (12) of the crane jib.
- A rail crane according to claim 2 or 3, characterized in that a distance (a) between the load chain (16) and the drive pinion (14) corresponds to a displacement path (s) of the auxiliary jib (21) between the inoperative position and the working position.
