Definitions

  • the invention relates to a protective helmet with a gas meter.
  • Protective helmets are used in the area of the fire-brigade, the industry, at rescue forces or in the military area.
  • Protective helmets are part of a personal protective equipment, which may also include a protective suit, goggles and additional components such as a communication device.
  • additional components such as a communication device.
  • appropriate adapters are provided on the helmet to secure functional accessories.
  • the US 5,659,296 relates to an apparatus for monitoring ambient air flowing from the outside environment along a flow path through a respirator cartridge and into a face mask.
  • a processor housing is releasably coupled to the flow path path.
  • a sensor is provided which has the property of measuring the concentration of a component of the ambient air in the flow path.
  • an indicator is provided in the housing, which provides an active indication in response to a concentration signal.
  • the US 2006/0125623 A1 describes a system and method for identifying, evaluating and monitoring dangerous conditions.
  • This system may be worn by security personnel to detect conditions of the device, such as a low supply voltage, environmental conditions, such as temperature, and / or physiological conditions, such as the heart rate of a wearer.
  • the US 2002/0190866 A1 discloses a respiratory system for a worker operating in a hazardous air pollutant environment having a respirator, a helmet, a camera, and a gas sample analyzer suitable for analyzing gas samples.
  • An RF transmitter sends a signal to a remote receiver.
  • a protective helmet with a circumferential module ring protruding having a plurality of spaced apart in the longitudinal direction of the module ring plug-in slots.
  • complementary plug-in elements are provided with which the functional components can be attached to the helmet.
  • the functional accessories include, for example, visors, ear protection, mask adapter, lamps, infrared or video cameras, power sources, mechanical aids and communication equipment.
  • Protective helmets usually consist of a hard outer shell and a flexible interior, which serves to adapt the helmet to the different head shapes of the protective helmet wearer.
  • a protective helmet of the type mentioned is an example of the CH 438 755 A out.
  • the interior features a support ring, which rests on the head of the protective helmet carrier.
  • Gas meters associated with protective equipment in a noxious gas atmosphere are attached as mobile devices to garments or to a belt by means of a bracket.
  • a mobile gas meter with a holder goes by way of example from the DE 198 31 893 C2 out.
  • the invention has for its object to improve a protective helmet such that a monitoring of harmful gas in the field of vision of the helmet wearer is possible without affecting the wearing comfort.
  • the gas meter is subdivided into module-like components, such as a power supply module, a display module, an alarm transmitter module and a sensor module as modules in operative connection with each other, thereby positioning the sensor module so that the gas concentration in the face region of the helmet wearer is detected and evaluated.
  • module-like components such as a power supply module, a display module, an alarm transmitter module and a sensor module as modules in operative connection with each other, thereby positioning the sensor module so that the gas concentration in the face region of the helmet wearer is detected and evaluated.
  • the helmet wearer is warned so early, when the mouth or nose area of the face is contacted with a noxious gas atmosphere.
  • the alarm module which may include both an audible and a vibrating alarm, is preferably mounted near the ears, with the vibrating alarm being transmitted directly to the head. It is particularly useful to attach the alarm module directly to the interior of the helmet.
  • the power supply module is preferably placed in the middle of the protective helmet to achieve a symmetrical weight distribution.
  • the power supply module is located either directly on the outer shell of the Hard hat or it is attached to the interior.
  • the visual display of the display module can be integrated, for example, in the form of an LCD display surface in the protective helmet or attached to the protective helmet respirator.
  • the display module has a projection unit with which measured values or alarm messages are displayed on a projection surface in front of the user, for example a wall or the floor.
  • the projection will enlarge both measured values and alarm messages so that they can be perceived particularly well by the protective helmet wearer.
  • a projection unit it is also possible to use a laser scanner which writes the measured value to the projection surface in front of the user.
  • the projection surface can also lie within a breathing mask attached to the protective helmet.
  • the sensor module is preferably fastened in the face region of the helmet wearer.
  • the helmet wearer is reliably warned as soon as harmful gases reach the inhalation area. This can happen, for example, when the helmet wearer comes with his head in an area laden with noxious gas, for example, when he inspects a pit or a channel.
  • an operating module is provided in the side region of the protective helmet, which comprises a light ring and an operating button located within the light ring.
  • the light ring is designed so that it can emit light in different wavelength ranges. For example, a light blue color indicates that the gas meter is ready for use. If, in contrast, the illuminated ring lights up in red, this is an indication that the gas concentration has exceeded its limit value. With the control button, alarms or status indicators can be confirmed by the helmet wearer or be reset.
  • the light ring is an additional display component that shows outsiders whether the gas meter carried by the helmet wearer is operational and whether there is a warning condition on the measured gas concentration.
  • a U-shaped LED module is mounted on the underside of the helmet.
  • This LED module consists of a large number of individual LEDs, which are evenly distributed on the base surface of the LED module.
  • the LED module is an additional display component that can also be used to display alarm or warning conditions.
  • FIG. 1 schematically shows the structure of a gas meter 1, which includes a power supply module 2, containing an evaluation circuit 3 and a battery pack 4, a sensor module 5, a display module 6 and an alarm transmitter module 7. Further, the gas meter 1, a control module 8 with an operating knob 9 and a light ring 10 and a horseshoe-shaped at the bottom of a in the FIG. 1 not shown protective helmet extending LED module 11.
  • the display module 6 includes a projection unit 12, which maps measurement and status data onto a projection surface 13 located in front of the helmet wearer.
  • Modules 5, 6, 7, 8, 11 are connected via signal lines 14 to the evaluation circuit 3.
  • FIG. 2 3 illustrates a perspective view of a protective helmet 15 with an outer shell 16 and an interior 17, the sensor module 5 and the display module 6 with the projection unit 12 being fastened to an arm 18 attached laterally to the outer shell 15.
  • the operating module 8 is attached to the operating knob 9 and arranged around the operating knob 9 around the light ring 10.
  • the alarm transmitter module 7 is arranged in the form of an acoustic alarm with a vibration alarm.
  • the U-shaped LED module 11 extends.
  • the power supply module 2 is attached to the inside of the outer shell 16 and is located approximately in the middle of the protective helmet 15th
  • the light ring 10 is designed so that displays in different colors are possible.
  • the color red means that a gas concentration limit has been exceeded.
  • a corresponding warning is output both via the projection unit 12 and the LED module 11 and also the alarm transmitter module 7.
  • the helmet wearer is warned in a different way that there is a limit value exceeding the gas concentration. If the light ring 10 is not backlit, the gas meter 1 is not ready and turned off. In contrast, a bright blue field indicates the operational readiness of the gas meter. When changing the color from light blue to green is an alarm to be confirmed by pressing the button 9.
  • FIG. 3 shows an example of a warning message issued by the projection unit 12.
  • the red warning message on the projection surface 13 indicates in the present case a limit value for carbon monoxide.
