Description

The invention relates to a retractable lateral barrier bed, including a patient bed; it relates more particularly to an improvement to increase the protection height offered by said barrier, all things being equal.

There is a patient bed equipped with a side barrier mounted along the frame or frame of this bed. To allow access to the bed and facilitate care, it is known to combine such a barrier to a mechanical system with deformable parallelogram comprising two pivoting arms attached to the fixed frame of the bed or to an equivalent structure. Under these conditions, it is possible to lower or raise the barrier, substantially parallel to itself, the movement being accompanied by a translation-rotation parallel to the longitudinal dimension of the bed. In such a mechanism, it is desirable to increase the distance between the upper bar of the barrier in the raised position and the sleeping plane. However, in this same position, the lower edge of the barrier must not be located too high.

In addition, in the lowered position, the lower edge of the barrier must be at a sufficient distance from the ground. All of these requirements are subject to a standard. The taking into account of all these constraints would lead to increase the height of the sleeping surface to be able to associate the bed with a higher barrier. This is undesirable because said sleeping plan must be relatively low to reduce the risk of falling of the patient, and facilitate the transfer of the patient out of bed and vice versa.

From a mechanical point of view, it is known to "complete" the deformable parallelogram system by a lower bar articulated to both arms at both ends. This bar which will be called hereinafter "deployment bar", aims to make reliable the kinematics of the system avoiding blockages. Conventionally, this bar is installed in a box fixed under the frame of the bed and relatively bulky.

In addition, the document EP 1 053 735 describes a barrier articulated in its own plane and comprising two portions respectively lower and upper, approximately L-shaped. The kinematics of the deployment system is such that the two parts are farther apart from each other when the barrier is in high position only when in the low position. The space between the two parts can be a cause of accident. In addition, the barrier in the low position occupies a relatively large position longitudinally.

The invention aims to reconcile all the requirements mentioned above while avoiding the disadvantages of the previous device that has just been analyzed.

To this end, the invention relates to a retractable side barrier bed of the type comprising a main barrier element associated with a deformable parallelogram mechanism hinged to a frame of the bed or similar structure, said mechanism comprising two parallel arms each having a joint to said frame and an articulation to said main barrier element, a deployment bar being further articulated between said arms, characterized in that said mechanism is completed by a lower extension connected to said deployment bar by a sliding connection and in that said Extender is slidable along vertical guide means carried by said main barrier member.

For example, said extension can be carried by two axes respectively integral with the deployment bar, each axis being engaged in a light of the extension. The arrangement can obviously be reversed.

Locking means which are not part of the invention and will not be described in detail are provided to define the stable positions, high, low and possibly intermediate of the main barrier element and consequently those of the extension which according to one possible embodiment, is deployed downwards when the main barrier element is in the up position and, on the contrary, retracted inside the main barrier element when the latter is in the low position .

  • la figure 1 est une vue schématique en perspective avec arrachement partiel d'un lit muni d'une barrière latérale escamotable, selon l'invention ;
  • la figure 2 est une coupe II-II de la figure 1 ;
  • la figure 3 est une coupe brisée III-III de la figure 1 ;
  • la figure 4 est une vue semblable à la figure 3, illustrant une variante ;
The invention will be better understood on reading the following description of a side-barrier bed in accordance with its principle, given solely by way of example and with reference to the appended drawings in which:
  • the figure 1 is a diagrammatic perspective view partially broken away of a bed provided with a retractable side barrier, according to the invention;
  • the figure 2 is a II-II section of the figure 1 ;
  • the figure 3 is a broken cut III-III of the figure 1 ;
  • the figure 4 is a view similar to the figure 3 , illustrating a variant;
  • the Figures 5 to 7 are schematic views of the embodiment of the figure 1 , illustrating the kinematics of the system; and
  • the Figures 8 and 9 illustrate schematically another embodiment according to the invention, the device being shown respectively in the high position and in the low position.

In the drawings, there is shown schematically and partially a bed 11 comprising a frame 12 or similar fixed frame, surmounted by a sleeping surface on which is placed a mattress 14. A retractable side barrier 16 is arranged on the side of this bed ; it can move globally by rotation-translation between a high position ( figure 5 ) and a low position ( figure 7 ). The figure 6 represents an intermediate position. The barrier 16 comprises a main barrier element 18 associated with a deformable parallelogram mechanism 19 hinged to the frame 12 of the bed. The mechanism comprises two pivoting parallel arms 20a 20b each comprising a hinge 21a, 21b to said frame and a hinge 22a, 22b to the main barrier element. In addition, in a manner known per se, a deployment bar 26 is articulated between said arms, 20a, 20b, in the example by means of two hinge pins 50a, 50b.

In the example described, with reference to Figures 1 to 3 and 5 at 7 , the mechanism comprises a longitudinal support 28 fixed to the lower part of the main barrier element 18 and forming an integral part thereof. This longitudinal support delimits with the main barrier element 18 a cavity 30 having a longitudinal opening 32, extending along its lower edge.

According to an important characteristic, the mechanism is completed by a lower extension 34 carried by two spaced apart axes 36a, 36b integral with said deployment bar 26. Said extension 34 extends over substantially the entire length of the main barrier element. It is attached to the deployment bar 26 by a sliding link. Thus, the axes 36a, 36b are engaged in corresponding slots 38a, 38b of the extension 34. The latter is slidable along vertical guide means, carried by said element main barrier. More specifically, these guide means here consist of internal walls of the cavity 30, which houses the upper part of the extension. In the example, the ends 40a, 40b of said extension, longitudinally spaced, are in sliding contact with two corresponding end walls 41a, 41b of the cavity 30. The latter also houses the deployment bar 26 to which the extension 34 is attached to. In the example described, the deployment bar 26 is horizontal and the sliding connection (36a, 38a - 36b, 38b) but this is not mandatory, the arrangement may be somewhat oblique.

In the example, the two parallel arms 20a, 20b are external to the cavity delimited by the support 28. They extend between the edge of the bed and the main barrier element 18 itself.

The extension 34 extends partially beyond the lower longitudinal opening 32 of the cavity, a distance that depends on the position of the barrier member 18 relative to the coating plane. When the barrier is raised to its maximum, the extension 34 comes out of the cavity so that the useful height of the barrier is maximum. On the contrary, when the barrier is in its lowest position, the extension 34 is retracted within the cavity so that a sufficient distance is maintained between the lower edge of the barrier and the ground.

As we see on the Figures 1 to 3 , the deployment bar 26 is engaged in an elongated middle slot 45 of said extension. Each of the two axes 36a, 36b carried by the deployment bar extends on either side thereof and the corresponding light 38a, 38b defined in the wall of the extension, is double and extends from both sides. other of said middle slot 45. In the example shown on the Figures 1 to 3 each arm 20a, 20b carries a hinge axis 50a, 50b connected to said deployment bar. This axis passes through a curved light 52a, 52b made through the wall of the support 28. The shape and dimensions of such a light are determined so that the hinge axis 50a, 50b which passes through it does not meet the wall of the support. The bottom stop of the barrier can nevertheless be done on these lights.

Alternatively, one can adopt the assembly of the figure 4 . In this case, the articulation between each arm 20a (or 20b) and the barrier element 18 comprises an articulation axis 22a (or 22b) which engages in said cavity 30. This axis carries an inner support 56, fully housed inside the cavity. Of course, the arm 20a (or 20b), the axis 22a (or 22b) and the inner support 56 are integral, the assembly being articulated relative to the frame of the bed. The inner support 56 carries a hinge axis 50a (or 50b) connected to said deployment bar 26. Thus, said deployment bar 26 is articulated between the two axes 50a, 50b carried by the two inner supports 56. Of this way, the wall of the support 28 no longer has curved light as in the embodiment described above, which is favorable from the point of view of hygiene.

According to yet another variant, the upper ends of the two arms could be engaged in the cavity.

The embodiment of the Figures 8 and 9 comprises, by analogy with the previous one, a main barrier element 118, comprising a ramp 118a, forming part of a deformable parallelogram mechanism 119 hinged to the frame 112 of the bed. This mechanism comprises two pivoting parallel arms 120a, 120b each comprising a hinge 121a, 121b to the frame 112 and a hinge 122a, 122b to the main barrier element. A deployment bar 126 is articulated between the arms 120a, 120b by means of two hinge pins 150a, 150b. The extender 134 is here a hollow structure which houses in particular the deployment bar 126 and two vertical uprights 155a, 155b of the main barrier element 118.

Ces derniers coulissent dans des guides 157a, 157b du prolongateur 134.The joints 122a, 122b are respectively at the lower ends of these uprights 155a, 155b. These slide in guides 157a, 157b of the extension 134.

The axes 150a, 150b are also engaged in lights 159a, 159b of the extension 134 to form a sliding connection, as in the previous example, between said extension 134 and the deployment bar 126. The kinematics of this variant is similar to that of the preceding embodiment, the ramp 118a of the main barrier element 118 being further away from the upper edge of the extender 134 when the system is in the up position ( figure 8 ) when it is in a low position ( figure 9 ).
