Claims (6)

  1. Feeder (17; 37) for feeding fabric (15) during the operation of a sewing machine (1), the feeder (17; 37) comprising
    - at least one feed portion (28, 28a; 28) which is designed for frictional interaction with the fabric (15) and for performing a feed movement in a needle plate recess (16) of a needle plate (14);
    - a base body (29) by means of which the feed portion (28, 28a; 28) is rigidly connected to a feeder carrier (29a);
    characterized in that
    - a peripheral contour (32) of the feed portion (28, 28a; 28) seamlessly merges with a peripheral contour (33) of the base body (29), seen with mounted feeder (17; 37) in a projection onto a needle plate plane (34),
    - the feeder has exactly one stitch hole (18) or two stitch holes (18, 18a) disposed next to each other in a direction perpendicular to a sewing direction (N).
  2. Feeder according to claim 1, characterized in that a peripheral-contour transition member (35) between the feed portion (28, 28a; 28) and the base body (29) is formed by a web whose width - seen with mounted feeder (17; 37) in a projection onto a needle plate plane (34)-at the transition to the base body (29) equals the width of the base body (29), and at the transition to the feed portion (28, 28a; 28) equals the width of the feed portion (28, 28a; 28).
  3. Feeder according to claim 2, characterized in that the transition member (35) between the transitions has a width that changes linearly.
  4. Feeder according to one of claims 2 or 3, characterized in that perpendicular to the needle plate plane (34), the web (35) has a thickness which, at the respective transition, is smaller than the thickness of the feed portion (28, 28a; 28) and that of the base body (29).
  5. Feeder according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized by a feed portion (28, 28a) comprising two feed-portion subunits (28, 28a) disposed next to each other for use in a double-needle sewing machine, wherein the peripheral contour (32) of the feed portion (28, 28a) seamlessly merges with a peripheral contour (33) of the base body (29) on both sides of the feeder (37), wherein the base body (29) is seen with mounted feeder (37) in a projection onto a needle plate plane (34).
  6. Sewing machine comprising
    - a needle plate (14) comprising a needle plate recess (16);
    - a needle bar (9) comprising a sewing needle (10) attachable thereto, said needle bar (9) being driven for up and down movement above the stitch plate (14);
    - a feeder (17; 37) according to one of claims 1 to 5, the feeder (17; 37) being disposed in the needle plate recess (16) for performing a feed movement.
