Definitions

  • the invention relates to a needle holder which is suitable for needles in general and in particular for embroidery needles, such as Schifflinnadeln.
  • Embroidery machines in particular large embroidery machines, are provided with needle bars which carry at their ends in each case a tensioning device for a needle.
  • the needles are also referred to as embroidery needles or Schifflinnadeln.
  • the needle bars are moved axially reciprocatingly to perform an embroidering process to repeatedly pierce the needle through a textile.
  • the GB 387 073 proposes to grasp the needles held on a bar in a turret, which can be converted into, for example, four index positions. If one of the four needles held on the turret breaks, the turret can be rotated 90 degrees to bring a new needle into position. On the turret, the needles are held by a clamping claw, which can be tightened or loosened by means of a fastening screw.
  • a needle holder known in which a plurality of needles are pivotally supported. These can be transferred to either resting or working position. This allows different colored threads to be selected.
  • the US 3,583,345 discloses a needle tensioning device having a hollow cylindrical cap in which a needle clamping part and a needle receiving part are arranged. At the interface between the needle clamp and needle receiving part extends the needle channel, in which the needle can be inserted through an opening in the cap.
  • the needle clamp is elastically deformable. By axial displacement of the cap, the needle clamping part is deformed and expands radially. This creates a clamping force on the parting surface to the needle receiving part, so that a needle inserted into the needle channel is held.
  • the needle shaft is pressed by a screwed against a needle ram or a needle ruler needle clamping member to fix the needle.
  • the needle holder according to the invention has a needle receiving part with a needle clamping part and a fixing element, by means of which the needle clamping part can be fixed in a clamping position.
  • the needle holder is mounted in extension on a needle bar. It can also be integrally, seamlessly connected to it.
  • the fixing is pushed to fix the needle clamping part on this and moved to release the same of this.
  • the needle can be attached in a particularly simple manner with a very simple handle on the needle bar and just as easy of this be solved again.
  • the direction for inserting or for removing the needle is transverse to the longitudinal direction of the needle or the needle bar possible.
  • the needle change is not affected by objects that are located in front of the needle tip The necessary manual effort required for needle change is therefore very low.
  • the needle is securely held on the needle bar.
  • the needle receiving part of the needle holder or the needle bar preferably has, as a seat for receiving the needle, an elongate groove-like recess which is adapted to one end of the needle. This also called “piston" end of the needle forms a holding portion.
  • a transverse pin or a transverse rib can be arranged in the groove-like recess. This pin or rib may be associated with a notch provided in the end of the needle.
  • needles according to the prior art, with flattened piston or end, as they are used today in large numbers in the textile industry, can be used in such a needle holder. It is thus backwards compatible.
  • the needle clamping part is preferably designed as a clamping flap, which is pivotally mounted on the end of the needle and away from it.
  • the end of the needle is received on one side by the needle receiving part. Its other side is caught by the needle clamping part, for example in the form of the clamping flap.
  • the clamping flap or the needle clamping part In the tensioned state, the clamping flap or the needle clamping part is pressed radially against the piston of the needle, whereby the needle is in turn pressed into the needle receiving part and thus clamped.
  • This clamping position is secured by the fixing.
  • the fixing element is released, the clamping flap can be folded away from the piston of the needle. It thus gives of the cylindrical space surrounding the piston a Half free.
  • the needle clamp member upon clamping the end of the needle, the needle clamp member is moved into a space radially above the seat of the needle to the end of the needle.
  • the clamping flap When releasing the needle clamp, ie the clamping flap is moved out of this space area.
  • the embroidery needle can thus be easily removed from the needle holder. A new needle can simply be inserted into the needle holder. It is not necessary to thread or fit these axially into any openings.
  • the needle clamping member and the needle receiving member complement each other substantially into a cylindrical outer contour when the needle clamping member, e.g. the tensioning flap, in clamping position.
  • the needle clamping member e.g. the tensioning flap
  • This allows a slim design and on the other hand, a simple fixing of the needle clamp in clamping position.
  • the clamping flap is pivotable about a pivot axis which is transverse to the needle longitudinal direction and approximately parallel to a parting surface between the needle receiving part and the needle clamping part or pivotable about a pivot axis which is oriented parallel to the needle axis.
  • the fixing element can be easily pushed over the formed cylindrical outer contour to secure the needle clamp in clamping position.
  • the fixing element is designed as a latching lever which is pushed from the side over the needle clamping part.
  • the fixing element can be pivotably mounted on the needle receiving part in one embodiment.
  • the pivot axis is oriented, for example, parallel to the needle. It is also possible to rotatably support the fixing element around the needle receiving part about a rotation axis concentric with the central axis of the needle.
  • the fixing element also be pivotally mounted on the needle clamping part to be locked in the clamping position with the needle receiving part.
  • the fixing element can be held by at least one locking means in a fixing position.
  • the fixing element may be formed from a somewhat elastic plastic, which gives the fixing a resilience or spring action.
  • a pivotally mounted lever with a recess of this lever can be pivoted so on the needle clamping part that it engages with its recess on the needle clamping part and this simultaneously clamped against the piston of the needle.
  • FIG. 1 a needle holder 1 according to the invention is illustrated, which is designed as a quick-clamping holder. It has a needle receiving part 2, which is adapted for attachment to a needle bar.
  • the needle receiving part 2 is provided at one end with a pin 3. From this, the remaining body 4 of the needle receiving part 2 extends away.
  • the body 4 has at its end opposite the pin 3 approximately in the form of a longitudinally divided half-cylinder, which has a substantially longitudinally extending, preferably flat surface 5. This is penetrated by a groove-like recess which forms a seat 6 for receiving the end 7 of a needle. This end 7 (“piston”) is used for storage or attachment of the needle.
  • the needle is for example an embroidery needle.
  • the seat 6 is associated with a needle clamping part 8, which is designed as a pivotable jaw. It has a semi-cylindrical shape and turns the preferably flat surface 5 to a preferably flat surface 9 too.
  • the surface 9 may, if necessary, be provided with a groove or other recesses.
  • the end 7 of the needle is flattened, with the flattened side facing the surface 9.
  • the needle clamping part 8 is substantially semi-cylindrical, wherein it has an extension 10 at one end, which serves for the pivotable mounting of the clamping part 8 on the body 4.
  • the extension 10 protrudes into a corresponding recess of the body 4 and is held there by a transverse pin not further illustrated.
  • FIG. 1 illustrates the needle clamp 8 in a release position. In this release position, an acute opening angle of at least 45 degrees, preferably at least 75 degrees, is formed between the surface 9 of the needle clamping part 8 and the surface 5 of the body 4. As a result, the needle with the end 7 can be easily removed from its seat 6. This is done with unfolded clamping part 8 with completely free lying seat.
  • To the needle holder 1 also includes a fixing member 14 which is formed in the present embodiment by a locking lever 15. This is preferably pivotally mounted on the needle receiving part 2 about a pivot axis 16, e.g. is determined by a pin 17 which extends through an opening of the locking lever 15. The pin 17 and the pivot axis 16 preferably extend parallel to the longitudinal center axis 13 defined by the seat 6 and thus transversely to the pivot axis 12.
  • the locking lever 15 consists for example of a somewhat resilient plastic. It is provided with an opening or recess 18 which follows approximately the cylindrical contour which define the needle receiving part 2 and the needle clamping part 8 together when the needle clamping part 8, as FIG. 2 shows, in clamping position.
  • the contour of the recess 18 follows the contour of the cylinder up to a nose 19, with which the locking lever 15, the needle clamping part 8 engages over and clamped against the end 7 of the needle.
  • the lever 15 is seated with a bearing end 20 on the pin 17 and has lying opposite a handle end 21 which serves as a handle to the lever 15 from his in FIG. 1 illustrated release position in the in FIG. 2 illustrated to transfer fixation position.
  • a yarn guide 22 is held in the form of an eyelet.
  • the yarn guide 22 may be formed by a bolted sheet metal bent part.
  • the locking lever 15 is also preferably secured with a locking ring 23 on the pin 17.
  • the locking lever 15, as mentioned, completely made of a slightly elastic plastic and thus even provide the required for the locking effect spring action with respect to the radial direction of the pin 17.
  • the locking lever 15 of a rigid material, such as metal, form and provide in the region of its recess 18 elastic means, for example in the form of spring-mounted tongues or other elements, elastic liners or the like.
  • FIG. 3 illustrates the needle holder 1, omitting the locking lever 15 in side view in the closed state.
  • the end 7 of the needle between the needle clamp 8 and the needle receiving part 2 is clamped.
  • the positioning of the end 7 will, as FIG. 4 determined by a pin 24 which engages in a notch 25 of the piston or end 7 of the needle.
  • the pin 24 is at least approximately parallel to a seated in the transverse bore 11 pin 26 which forms the hinge joint for the needle clamping part 8.
  • the pin 24 passes through the trough or trough-shaped seat. 6
  • FIG. 9 A further modified embodiment of the invention illustrated FIG. 9 , This is based essentially on the embodiment according to the Figures 1 and 2 , to the description of which reference is made by reference to the same reference numerals.
  • differences lie in the design of the fixing element, which is not designed here as a detent lever but as a clamping lever 33.
  • This is provided in place with a detent with a pivotally mounted eccentric 34.
  • the eccentric clamp 34 is formed by a clamping cam 35 which is pivotally mounted on the clamping lever 33 and is preferably arranged at the outermost end or edge of its recess 18. It replaces the (latching) lug 19.
  • a pin 36 extending radially away from the clamping cam 35 serves as a lever for clamping and releasing the clamping cam 35.
  • FIGS. 10 and 11 Another possible modification show the FIGS. 10 and 11 , This embodiment utilizes similar principles to the embodiments described herein. However, unlike the above embodiments, it is particularly suitable for direct installation in a needle bar 37 while according to the above-described concept, the needle holder 1 is provided as a needle bar attachment.
  • the needle bar 37 thus forms according to FIGS. 10 and 11 their own needle holder 1 ', for which their needle end is designed accordingly.
  • a longitudinal groove is inserted so that the end of the needle bar 37 forms the needle receiving part 2 'with the seat 6'.
  • the end 7 of the needle can be inserted into this seat 6 '.
  • the needle clamping part 8' is designed in the form of a tongue or finger, which is pivotably mounted in the groove and can be folded into the groove.
  • the needle clamp 8 ' is dimensioned so that it protrudes slightly beyond the outer circumference of the end of the needle bar 37 when it is in the clamping position, ie in the groove. Its back edges are how FIG.
  • a flat groove 40 is formed around which a fixing element is seated.
  • This is formed here by a rotary body 41 which sits with an opening on the needle receiving part 2 'in the groove 40 and thereby engages the needle receiving part 2'.
  • the edge of the opening of the rotary body 41 is not closed continuously. Rather, the edge has a passage 42 which can serve as a passage for the needle clamping part 8 '.
  • FIG. 10 illustrates the release position and FIG. 11 the clamping position. In the clamping position, the rotary body 41 is pushed over the needle clamping part 8 'such that it clamps it against the end 7 of the needle.
  • a handle 43 connected to it can serve. Otherwise, the previous description is based on the same reference numerals in addition accordingly.
  • the rotary body 41 may be formed rounded on its outside, such as FIG. 12 otherwise, the description of the embodiments according to FIG FIGS. 10 and 11 applies accordingly.
  • the rotary body 41 may e.g. made of plastic or even from another less compliant material, such as a metal. It is adapted to bias the needle clamp 8 'against the end 7 of the needle as it is slipped over the outer back surface of the needle clamp 8' by being rotated about the longitudinal center axis 13. This thus forms an axis of rotation for the rotary body 41.
  • the rotary body 41 may also be formed as a slender C-clip, such as FIG. 13 shows. This is slightly resilient in the radial direction and presses in clamping position the needle clamping part 8 'against the end 7 of the needle. If the rotary body 41 is rotated away from the needle clamping part 8 ', it releases it. It can be analogous to FIG. 10 be folded out of the groove, whereby the needle is released.
  • the rotary body 41 is formed as a slender sleeve, which is moved to clamp the needle clamping part 8 'in the needle longitudinal direction on the needle clamping part 8'.
  • the groove 40 is wider in the axial direction, so that the displacement of the rotary body and the sliding body 41 is possible.
  • the sliding body 41 is shifted in the direction of the needle bar 37 so far that the needle clamping part 8' can be opened.
  • a quick-clamping holder for a sewing needle, embroidery needle or the like has a needle holder 2, on which a needle clamping part 8 is preferably pivotally mounted.
  • a fixing element 14 is provided which is pivotally or rotatably mounted with respect to a longitudinal central axis 13 of the needle and thus pushed onto the needle clamping part 8 and can be pushed down by this. The operation is simple and safe.
