- a watch of this type is described, for example, in the patent CH 338 150 .
- a mechanical movement of the classic type is surmounted by a U-shaped stirrup whose base is traversed by the roadway. This drives two vertical wheels mounted pivoting in the branches of the caliper and rotating at speeds whose ratio is that of the angular speeds of the traditional clockwise. These two wheels are respectively engaged with the teeth that have two endless ribbons arranged next to each other, around the movement and bearing one the indications of minutes, the other indications of hours.
- Such a construction however suffers from two main disadvantages. Firstly, the power and the energy of the spring contained in the barrel may be insufficient to drive the ribbon for an acceptable duration. Second, the watch is very thick since it consists of the stack of a movement, the ribbon drive mechanism and sufficient space to allow it to go around the assembly.

- FIG. 1 shows, at 10, an endless flexible tape stretched between two parallel identical rollers 11 and 12 driven simultaneously in rotation by a mechanism which will be described later in detail. When rotating, these rollers move the tape counter-clockwise, one or more full rotations per day.
- the flexible tape 10 may be of silk, metal, plastic, paper or any other material. It presents side by side, arranged perpendicularly to the rollers and made by printing, a scale 13 bearing the indications of the hours from 0 to 11 and possibly a scale 14 carrying, in front of the space separating two indications of successive hours, indications of minutes. In this case, the ribbon rotates and 12 hours. Good Of course, the scale 13 can also carry the indications of the hours from 0 to 23 , in which case the ribbon rotates in 24 hours.

- the length of the rollers allows them to form barrels with a spring having, because of its high height, a moment of maximum force exceptionally higher than that of the spring of a conventional barrel. If a single high-pitch spring is not available, it suffices, for example, to couple side by side, on the bung of the barrels, several elementary springs of conventional movements. which makes it easy to reach a moment of maximum force of 20 Nmm for each of them.
- the ribbon drive even if it is relatively heavy, no longer poses any problem in terms of power and energy. A power reserve greater than 48 hours is thus offered.
- each roller 11 and 12 which rotates in the counterclockwise direction, is pivotally mounted between two bridges 17 and 18. - the winding pinion 32 belongs to a central winding rod 34, parallel to the axes of the rollers 11 and 12, operable in rotation and in translation by means of a ring 35 and mounted between the bridges 18 and 33.
