  • the readability of displays is a major concern in watchmaking, especially for displays of the calendar type, which are difficult to produce in formats that are easily visible and decipherable by the user.
  • Watchmaking displays are rarely produced by rolls because the indications in this form are greedy in thickness, due to the diameter of the roll, comprising for example up to 31 indications for the days of the month, or 52 indications for the weeks of the year. , and incompatible with the particular geometry of a watch.
  • the document FR2220840A1 in the name of GENERAL ELECTRIC discloses a digital indicator for visually displaying digits, comprising a rotatable indicator member having a plurality of digits arranged thereon in sequential order so that they can be successively moved to a viewing position, a gear wheel attached to said indicator element for rotating therewith, a lever having a surface for engaging successive teeth of said toothed wheel to maintain the digits of said rotatable indicator element in particular viewing positions, spring means for urging the surface of said lever towards the teeth of said toothed wheel, and a drive member for incrementally moving said toothed wheel to bring successive digits into a viewing position.

  • the figures 7 to 11 illustrate the rotation and the maintenance in place of the flaps 20 during the rotation of the carrier roller 10, and of their own rotation.
  • the flaps 20 can be driven in continuous rotation relative to the rotation of the roller 10, with a ratio of one half. This solution is simple but requires space over the entire circumference of the roller 10, which is not always possible.
  • This pinion 35 can be driven by a cog comprising the second drive means 32, not illustrated in the figures.
  • the second drive means 32 comprise a segment of fixed teeth, located at a point on the periphery of the roller 10. During the rotation of the roller 10, a flap pinion 35 comes into cooperative contact with this segment, which generates a 180° rotation of the flap 20 concerned.

  • the main wheel 60 is driven by 1/N of a revolution per day.
  • the main wheel 60 carries a main cam 50, which is separated into N different peripheral sectors. These peripheral sectors are of unequal geometry: concentric sectors 51 correspond to the fixed display positions, and sectors with recesses 52 and provided with drive pins 5X correspond to the mobile positions of the display roller. Moreover, the angular amplitude of the concentric sectors 51 can be variable, as will be seen below.
  • This main cam 50 cooperates with a secondary cam 40 in the form of a Maltese cross, via the pins and the notches mentioned above.

  • the roller makes one revolution in six months, in July the lever does not trigger the rotation of the star.
  • the figure 27 illustrates another variant of maintaining the flaps 407 without jumper, and with drive by partial toothing, with guidance by an outer circumference 420 in contact with the flap 407 itself.
  • the shutter 407 is guided in position by two teeth 410, 411, of its drive pinion 409. This may have one or more teeth removed, at a recess 412, to facilitate the function.
  • the support is advantageously made on an outer or inner partial guide circumference, by two teeth defining a rotation circumference crossing the guide circumference. This crossing limits the rotation of the rollers on their axes.
