Description

TECHNISCHES GEBIETTECHNICAL AREA

The invention relates to a weapon station test unit for testing the operational readiness of a weapon station of an aircraft, having an integrated computer which has a weapon simulation device and a testing and evaluation device, wherein the computer is electrically connectable via a weapon station connection with a weapon station of an aircraft. The invention further relates to a method for testing the operational readiness of a weapon station of an aircraft.

When using weapons attached to a weapon station of an aircraft, such as cruise missiles, it is inadvisable for safety reasons to activate the aircraft-mounted weapon on the ground prior to launching the aircraft to test communication between the aircraft and the attached weapon. These tests are performed during the flight, so that a possible malfunction of communication between the aircraft and the weapon, which is first detected at this point in time, can impair the mission of the aircraft or even result in a termination of the mission. Therefore, there is a need to be able to test the weapon station of the aircraft already on the ground by the ground crew.

STAND DER TECHNIKSTATE OF THE ART

A generic Waffenstation test unit is from the US 5,614,896 known. In this known test unit, during the simulation of the presence of a weapon at the weapon station of the aircraft by means of the weapon simulation device, the communication between the aircraft and the weapon simulation device is stored in a memory and after expiration of the Analyzes tests, whereupon appropriate appropriate error messages are issued.

From the EP 0 309 133 a weapon simulation device is known, which is connectable to the simulation of a weapon to the weapon station of an aircraft. Although this weapon simulator allows the simulation of the weapon with respect to the aircraft, there is no check of the signals transmitted by the aircraft to the weapon station and from there to the weapon.

DARSTELLUNG DER ERFINDUNGPRESENTATION OF THE INVENTION

Since the time available to make a military aircraft operational is very limited and always aimed at minimizing this preparation time, it is the object of the present invention to improve a generic weapons station test unit so that the time to test the Operational readiness of the weapon station of the aircraft is reduced.

This object is solved by the features of claims 1 and 8.

For this purpose, in a weapon station test unit having the generic features, the weapon simulation device and the test and evaluation device cooperate such that the data traffic between the weapon simulation device and on-board electronics of the aircraft is monitored by the test and evaluation device during the simulation process in real time and for plausibility and correctness the data supplied by the on-board electronics of the aircraft is checked. Real-time monitoring and verification eliminates the prior art steps of storing the communication data and subsequently reading that stored data, thereby creating a weapons station testing unit that operates much faster than the prior art.

The weapon station test unit preferably has a power supply connection for electrical coupling to the aircraft in order to be able to supply the weapon station test unit with an on-board voltage of the aircraft. As a result, the weapon station test unit is independent of an external power supply and can also be operated in the field mobile, eliminating the need to provide greater battery capacity in the test unit.

It is also advantageous if the weapon station test unit has at least one GPS port, via which the weapon station test unit can be connected to an external GPS receiver, preferably the GPS receiver of a mission charger. This feature makes it possible to provide a compact and inexpensive test unit without its own GPS capability, and then connect it to an existing external GPS receiver present in each mission charger included in the ground crew's technical equipment to check the GPS signals ,

It is also advantageous if the weapon station test unit has externally accessible test contacts to which a conventional current / voltage / resistance measuring device can be connected. By means of these externally accessible test contacts, the ground crew during the simulation and test run can measure certain constant parameters, for example electrical voltages applied to the weapon station connection of the aircraft. As these measurements are carried out parallel to the automated simulation and test procedure, additional time is saved.

The weapon station testing unit may have a display screen; but it can also - alternatively or additionally - have a computer port interface for electrical connection of the integrated computer of the Waffenstations test unit with an external computer, so that, for example, an externally connected laptop can serve as a display device and logger for the simulation and test process.

In a further advantageous embodiment, if the weapon station test unit has a GLU data transmission connection for electrically connecting the weapon simulation device to a mission charger, the weapon station test unit can also be used as a training device for the ground personnel, the ground personnel then operating the mission charger and the operation of the mission charger Loading mission data from the mission charger into the aircraft by means of the weapon station test unit.

The weapon station test unit 1 is furthermore provided with a power supply connection 15, which can be connected to the aircraft 2 via a power supply line 22, in order to supply the weapon station test unit 1 with at least one on-board voltage of the aircraft 2. The electrical supply lines within the weapon station test unit, which inter alia connect the computer 10 to the power supply terminal 15 of the weapon station test unit 1, are for better clarity in the Fig. 1 not shown; however, it is common knowledge to provide such power supply connection lines within the firing station testing unit 1.

The weapon station test unit 1 has a GPS connection 17, which is connected to the weapon station connection 16 via a GPS data line 17 '. To the GPS port 17 of the weapon station test unit 1 is a GPS receiver 30 of a mission charger 3 via a GPS connection cable 31 connected. A mission loader, also referred to as a "Ground Loader Unit" (GLU), typically serves to attach a weapon attached to the weapon station 20 of an aircraft 2 and / or an on-board computer to the on-board electronics 24 of the aircraft 2 on the ground prior to take-off of the aircraft To program data about the aircraft's intended mission.

Furthermore, the mission charger 3 is electrically connectable via a GLU data line 32 to a GLU communication port 18 of the weapon station test unit 1 to connect the mission charger 3 to the internal computer 10 for data transmission. The GLU data transmission terminal 18 is connected to the weapon simulation unit 12 of the weapon station test unit 1 via a GLU data line 18 '. By connecting the mission charger 3 to the weapon station test unit 1 and thus to the weapon station 20 of the aircraft 2, those functions can also be checked and monitored by means of the weapon station test unit 1, which are executed when loading mission data from the mission charger 3 into the aircraft 2 become. In this apparatus configuration with mission charger 3 connected to the weapon station testing unit 1, the weapon station testing unit 1 can also be used to train the operation of the mission charger 3 and the process of loading mission data from the mission charger 3 into the aircraft 2.

The weapon station test unit 1 also contains a computer connection interface 19, which is connected via a third data line 19 'to the testing and evaluation device 14 of the computer 10 of the weapon station test unit 1. An external computer 4, for example a laptop, can be connected to the computer connection interface 19 by means of a computer connection cable 41. The external computer 4 includes a display screen 40, on which data can be displayed, which are supplied from the testing and testing device 14 to the external computer 4.

Finally, the weapon station test unit 1 also contains a plurality of externally accessible test contacts 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105 and 106. A conventional measuring device 5 is connected to these test contacts 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105 and 106 for current measurement, voltage measurement and / or resistance measurement by means of test leads 50, 51 can be connected. A portion of the test contacts 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105 and 106 is - not shown - connected to the power supply terminal 15 of the Waffenstations test unit, so that supplied by the weapon station 20 of the aircraft 2 with the meter 5 electrical Voltages can be measured. This measurement is not limited to applied to the weapon station steady voltage, but also extends to switching voltages that abut only at certain operating phases at the weapon station 20, for example, a bomb lock, with which the weapon is attached to the weapon station to open or close ,

The weapon station test unit 1 is also provided with visual displays, for example LEDs, 107, 108, 109, by means of which specific results of test and evaluation steps carried out in the test and evaluation device 14 can be displayed.

As shown in Fig. 1 Within the integrated computer 10 of the weapons station test unit 1, the checking and evaluation device 14 is arranged between the weapon station connection 16 and the weapon simulation device 12 that can be connected to the weapon station 20 of the aircraft 2, so that all the data traffic between the weapon simulation device 12 and the weapon station 20 of the aircraft 2 can be monitored by the testing and evaluation 14. The weapon station test unit 1, in particular its integrated computer 10, is designed in such a way that the weapon station test unit 1 has the same real-time behavior with respect to the weapon station 20 of the aircraft 2 as a weapon attached to the weapon station 20 of the aircraft 2.

The following is based on the flowchart in Fig. 2 exemplified a method for testing the operational readiness of the weapon station 20 of the aircraft 2.

First, in step 110, a weapons station testing unit 1 is provided. This weapon station test unit is connected in step 112 by means of the data line 21 to the weapon station 20 of the aircraft 2. The power supply line 22 is connected in this step to the Waffenstations test device 1 and to the aircraft 2, for example, at its weapon station 20. This provides a power connection between the aircraft 2 and the weapon station test facility 1 and a communications link between the weapon station 20 of the aircraft 2 and the weapon station test unit 1, the data communication link comprising a Milbus data bus.

Subsequently, in step 114 by means of the weapon simulation device 12, the behavior of a weapon connected to the weapon station 20 of the aircraft 2 relative to the on-board electronics 24 of the aircraft 2 is simulated by corresponding data communication from the weapon station test unit 1 to the aircraft 2. The signal flow between the on-board electronics 24 of the aircraft 2 and the weapon simulation device 12 is monitored by the test and evaluation unit 14 of the weapons station test unit 1, wherein the response of the aircraft 2 is checked and evaluated on the previously sent by the station test unit 1 communication signal , For this purpose, in step 116, the signals alternately exchanged between the on-board electronics 24 of the aircraft 2 and the weapon simulation device 12 are measured and analyzed. Subsequently, in step 118, the test result signals generated by the weapon station testing unit as a result of the measurement and analysis are output, which in the example of FIG Fig. 1 via the external computer 4 connected to the weapon station test unit 1 and / or the visual displays 107, 108, 109. Steps 114, 116 and 118 are in Dependent on the number of parameters to be tested repeatedly and quasi parallel to each other to achieve the desired real-time behavior.
