Die Einrichtung 10 umfasst eine zweite Vorrichtung 2 zur drehbaren Aufnahme der zweiten Spule, eine Andockvorrichtung 3 zum überlappenden Aufeinanderlegen jeweils eines Teilstücks des Umreifungsbandes der zweiten Spule sowie eine Schweißvorrichtung 4 zum Verschweißen der Umreifungsbänder der beiden Spulen in ihrem Überlappungsbereich. Die Andockvorrichtung 3 weist u. a. eine Arretiervorrichtung 5 zum passgenauen Zusammenführen der überlappenden Stücke der Umreifungsbänder der beiden Spulen auf. Die Arretiereinrichtung 5 wiederum umfasst eine Klemmvorrichtung zum Festhalten mindestens eines der beiden überlappenden Stücke. Des weiteren ist eine Schneidevorrichtung 7 vorgesehen, die ein Messer zum Abtrennen des Bandrestes des Umreifungsbandes von der ersten Spule nach dem Verschweißen mit dem Umreifungsband von der zweiten Spule umfasst. Die Arretiervorrichtung 5 ist auf einem Schlitten 6 relativ zu den Aufnahmevorrichtungen 1, 2 linear verschiebbar sowie auf einem Trägerarm 8 aus dem Abwickelbereich der zweiten Spule wegschwenkbar angeordnet.Evident is in the lower left part of the figure, a first device 1 for rotatable Aufnehmung a first coil with a roll-shaped wound strapping. Claims (10)

  1. Arrangement for automatic strapping of packages with a strapping band of thermoplastic material, wherein the strapping band is wound in a reel on a first spool, wherein a first apparatus (1) is provided to rotatably hold the first spool, from which the strapping band can be unreeled for piecewise wrapping around a package, wherein a device (10) is provided to join a strapping band reeled on a second spool to the strapping band of the first spool, wherein the device (10) comprises a second apparatus (2) to rotatably hold the second spool, a docking apparatus (3) for overlapping juxtaposition of a portion of the strapping band of the first spool and a free end portion of the strapping band of the second spool, and a welding apparatus (4) to weld the strapping bands of both spools in their overlapping region, and wherein a detection device is provided to detect the arrival of the spool-side end of the reel of strapping band wound on the first spool,
    characterized in that
    the detection device comprises an optical sensor, in particular a photoelectric barrier, and in that a reflector is arranged on the surface of each of the first and second spools, the reflector being covered by the reel of material wound on the spool and becoming exposed to the optical sensor when the end of the reel is reached.
  2. Arrangement according to Claim 1, characterized in that the docking apparatus (3) has a catch device (5) for precise juxtaposition of the overlapping pieces of the two strapping bands.
  3. Arrangement according to Claim 2, characterized in that the catch device (5) comprises a clamping apparatus for holding fast at least one of the two overlapping pieces.
  4. Arrangement according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the welding apparatus (4) comprises at least one heatable welding pallet.
  5. Arrangement according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the catch apparatus (5) can be pivoted clear of the unwinding zone of the second spool after juxtaposition and docking of the overlapping pieces of the two strapping bands.
  6. Arrangement according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the docking apparatus (3) is arranged on a sliding carriage (6) which is linearly traversable relative to the apparatuses (1, 2) for rotatably holding the first and second spools.
  7. Arrangement according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a cutting apparatus (7), in particular a knife, is provided to trim off the waste strapping band from the first spool after [the strapping band from the first spool] has been welded to the strapping band from the second spool.
  8. Method for operating an arrangement according to any one of Claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the overlapping region of the pieces of strapping band of the two spools that are to be welded together is selected so that it comprises the start of the reel of strapping band of the second spool and a band portion not more than one winding-layer away from the end of the reel of strapping band of the first spool, and in particular the end of the reel of strapping band of the first spool.
  9. Method according to Claim 8, characterized in that the change from the first to the second spool in the removal of strapping band for strapping of packages is made manually.
  10. Method according to Claim 8 for operating an arrangement according to Claims 5 and 7, characterized in that the change from the first to the second spool in the removal of strapping band for strapping of packages is made automatically once the arrival of the spool-side end of the reel of strapping band wound on the first spool has been detected.
