In Figur 1 ist eine Lebensmittelaufschneidevorrichtung gezeigt, bei der ein Lebensmittelriegel 11 mittels eines Messers 12 in Lebensmittelscheiben 1 geschnitten wird. Die abgeschnittenen Lebensmittelscheiben 1 fallen mit einem Ende auf die Produktfaltung 4 und werden dabei geformt; d.h. zumindest gebogen. Die Produktfaltung 4 besteht in dem vorliegenden Fall aus drei Wellen, auf denen drehbar, nicht angetriebene Prismenrollen angeordnet sind. Die nicht angetriebenen Prismenrollen haben den Vorteil, dass die Lebensmittelscheibe nicht in die Produktfaltung eintaucht und verharkt. Zusätzlich haben die Prismenrollen den Vorteil, dass der Flächenkontakt zwischen der Lebensmittelscheibe und der Produktfaltung minimal ist, so dass eine Anhaftung der Scheibe an der Produktfaltung vermieden wird. Die kinetische Energie der fallenden Scheibe reicht aus, dass diese nach einem Kontakt mit der Produktfaltung kontrolliert und definiert in eine gefaltete Lage gelangt. Vorzugsweise ist die Produktfaltung so gelagert, dass sie zum einen in der Papierebene frei verschieblich gelagert und/oder der Winkel α veränderbar ist. Diese Veränderungen erfolgen während des Aufschneidens des Lebensmittelriegels und in einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform aufgrund von Eigenschaften der abgeschnittenen Lebensmittelscheibe 1 und/oder dem zu aufzuschneidenden Lebensmittelriegel 11, die von einem Detektionsmittel, beispielsweise einer Kamera 10, erfasst werden. Derartige Eigenschaften können beispielsweise die Höhe 17 des Lebensmittelriegels 11, die Dicke der Scheibe 1, die Art des Lebensmittels und/oder die Temperatur der abgeschnittenen Scheibe 1 oder des Lebensmittelriegels 11 sein. Der Fachmann versteht, dass das Detektionsmittel und/oder ein weiteres Detektionsmittel auch im Bereich des Lebensmittelriegels - d.h. auf der anderen Seite des Messers 12- angeordnet sein kann. Die Veränderung der Lage der Produktfaltung 4 erlaubt selbst bei sich ändernden Produktparametern eine gleichmäßige Faltung, wobei der Grad der Überlappung der Lebensmittelscheibe frei wählbar ist. Die gefaltete, d. h. geformte Lebensmittelscheibe 1 wird auf dem Transportband 2 abgelegt und mit einer Geschwindigkeit V14, der durch den Pfeil 14 dargestellten Richtung transportiert und ein weiteres Transportband 7 übergeben, das die gefalteten Lebensmittelscheiben mit der Geschwindigkeit V15 in die durch den Pfeil 15 dargestellten Richtung transportiert. Der Fachmann erkennt, dass das Transportband 2 die Produktfaltung 4 beim Falten der Lebensmittelscheibe unterstützen kann, indem beispielsweise ein Ende 1 a der Lebensmittelscheibe 1 schon auf dem Förderband 2 aufliegt und dieses Ende 1 a der Lebensmittelscheibe mit dem Förderband 2 unter das andere Ende 1 b geschoben wird.
